Speedy deletion nomination of Thy Art Is Murder edit

A tag has been placed on Thy Art Is Murder requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Thy Art is Murder edit

Thanks for your note. I had a look at the contents of the deleted article and I can tell you that it was deleted because it didn't meet any of Wikipedia's three most basic requirements; notability, reliable sources and verifiability. The primary basic requirement that it did not meet was that the subject of a Wikipedia article has to be notable -- special, unusual, better than its peers. The notability guidelines for musical groups are found at WP:MUSICBIO and I think you will agree with me that the group in question doesn't meet any of them. Other than that, there were no reliable sources associated with the article -- arm's-length, third-party sources of expert opinion writing in publications like books and magazines that comment on the notability of the subject -- and there was no way for anyone to verify the assertions about the group by looking at reliable sources. It's for that reason that I'm going to decline the opportunity to restore this article, as you requested; it would be highly likely to be deleted again immediately for precisely the reasons outlined in this paragraph. You can find out more about the basic requirements for Wikipedia articles by following the links in the welcome message above, including "Your first article", and by following the links I've provided in this paragraph. Best of luck with your future contributions. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:32, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Balloonsmakemehappy, I wanted to chime in as I also deleted this article one of the times. Please see WP:MUSICBIO; if you can come up with some reliable sources that can help make the band notable, I'd be happy to move the article into your user area so you can work on it without it getting deleted again. Let me know if you'd like to do that. tedder (talk) 07:48, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
