Hi Ballads2110, I just wanted to give you a heads up that stub templates go at the bottom of articles per WP:LAYOUT. I had seen this edit you made and figured since you were only new, you probably didn't know this. No big deal, I already reverted. Cmr08 (talk) 02:44, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hi Ballads2110, the 500 edits restriction described in the blue box above applies to requested move discussions too (see WP:ARBECR for details). ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:01, 7 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ballads2110; I somehow missed your email and only now saw it when replying to another Wikipedia; my apologies! Unfortunately, I know that I can't help you now with some of the more immediate concerns that you wanted to address, but I hope that you got it all sorted out. If not, or if you have any other issues that I might be able to help you with, then please leave a message on my talk page; I am much more likely to spot a message there than one that comes through Wikipedia's email system! Please accept my belated welcome! Canadian Paul 01:56, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

April 2024

  Hello, I'm Skyshifter. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ecco2K, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Skyshiftertalk 01:32, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Same for Bladee. Skyshiftertalk 01:34, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Why would it need a reference as most other wikipedia languages of the same page all have that same birth date with the exception of English wikipedia with no reference? Excuse me, I am curious to know. Additionally, this is a commonly cited birth date on many websites relating to artists' biographies. I've cited a source and reverted the edit, please correct me if needed. balladsone 02:03, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
no offense, it seemed a bit redundant to be giving a source regarding a full name where it did not previously have a source period, i've also reverted that just now, and have sourced this. balladsone 02:07, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please read WP:V. BLPs especially need inline citations for that kind of information. Even a primary source works (as in, from the artist themselves); regarding Ecco2K, I've already tried to find primary sources confirming the birth date and I couldn't find them. Websites of unknown reliability, other Wikipedias, or "websites relating to artists' biographies", won't work. Also note that Ecco2K is currently a good article nominee, so it needs to meet certain criteria, including not having unreferenced information.
You said Benjamin Reichwald didn't have a source, but it does. It is sourced in the body, first section of the article, to the "Vogue" article ([6]). I've removed the name again as WP:GENIUS is user-generated content and thus unreliable. Skyshiftertalk 10:30, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
thank you for explaining it to me !! apologies for the miscommunication. balladsone 11:26, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
