Rabbi Naftali Zvi Yehuda Berlin edit

A tag has been placed on Rabbi Naftali Zvi Yehuda Berlin, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to add more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Springnuts 16:45, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Springnuts: You are obviously not familar with the subject (one of the most important Orthodox rabbis in the last 100 years) so why do you feel comepetent to judge it? In any case, there is already an article about this at Naftali Zvi Yehuda Berlin. Thank you, IZAK 09:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

User: Springnuts edit

You are correct, as I'm new, I erred.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bachur (talkcontribs)

  • He is not correct, he is obviously ignorant of the subject, you should not apologize, and he should have tried to check it better, such as by contacting the editors who could have helped him at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism. IZAK 09:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:580s.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:580s.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Well edit

I don't think you need adopting, because you seem pretty clued up when it comes to the working with wikipedia, however if you have any questions or need any help you can leave a message here and I'll get back to you. In the mean time, since you seem to know your way around the technical side of things (seeing from your revert, at least) may I suggest having a look at the various wikiprojects or perhaps the requested articles list? Something might strike your fancy. Any questions, let me know! SGGH 11:53, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

What does adopting consist of? There is always more for me to learn, no? What do you think about the Completed parts of the pages that I've done till now?
I noticed that there are quite a number of projects to look at. If I notice any that I'd like to think about doing, how can I let you know?n Thank you. Bachur 05:00, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
You're contributions seem sound so far, all looks good! And you can leave me any messages you want on the sub page of my user page that I created here.

RE: your question edit

The link you gave me leads to a directory of wikiprojects to do with Philosophy and religion, departments, if you like, of Philosophy and religion. When you see a specific one that interests you, say... Wikiproject Buddhism, then click on it and it will take you here. That is the headquarters for that wikiproject, and from there you can begin to find your way to articles that are part of this wikiproject that you may wish to work on.

Most wikiproject pages will have a link to a catagory page which lists all the articles in their project (for the buddhism project, this is here) any of those articles are open to editing. Alternatively, many wikiprojects have a "requested articles" list which lists articles that do not yet exist and need to be created. If one of those takes your fancy, click on the red link and begin typing![1].

For example, on the Law enforcement wikiproject (I know this isn't your interest, its just an example) there is a requested articles list where users can simply click on one of those red links to be taken to that uncreated page, and then you're off! Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions by leaving them here. Regards, SGGH 20:56, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  1. ^ You might want to search for the title first, in case the article already exists but is named slightly differently
How are things going? SGGH 12:11, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Things are going okay. Except for one thing at this time. How do I deal with this - http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shevat&curid=198924&diff=101155937&oldid=101060417 - i used "Passed away" and this person keep on changing it back to "died". And see this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:69.208.78.151#User:Booshakla - where one user complains, and i commented back. Bachur 20:19, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

a) With the passed away/death thing. I don't think it's anything malicious, most likely just because "death" sounds more encyclopedic than "passing over" if you see what I mean. b) With the second thing, is the IP address that that user talk page is part of you? Or is User:Booshakla you? Or are neither of them you, and you just commented there because Booshakla has been doing the same "passed away/dead" thing as you? I don't see anything wrong at the moment but I might be misunderstanding what you're wanting me to look at. SGGH 19:05, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

in response -- A) it's not malicious, but people shouldn't be quoting a non-existent wiki page - SEE THIS LINK - http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shevat&curid=198924&diff=101155937&oldid=101060417 - and you'll notice that the user who changed my choice of words - uses a reason "(changing "passing" + "passed away" to death/died, see WP:Words To Avoid as this makes for better writing and is more npov)" and - WP:Words To Avoid - takes me to a page that is not even created.
B) I only added my comment there bec. it is something that i'm bothered by too, as well as "Aboutmovies". Bachur 20:12, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah I see, well, in the case of b), you're perfectly entitled to leave your own comment there, and regarding a) Wikipedia:Words to avoid is a real page. Wikipedia pages can be linked by both short cuts, such as WP:LE, or full names, such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Law Enforcement. But you can't combine the two as that user tried with "WP:Words to avoid". He means either Wikipedia:Words to avoid or WP:WTA. Any help? SGGH 11:19, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, is this person correct in the "passed away/died" issue? Or as the other person wrote, this person should do some real research and not change what hard work other's do. And since I've noticed this being done a few times already, especially with my material that I started with.
I think died is always a better bet, flourishy statements can detract from the encyclopedia nature of the article. It all comes down to personal preference obviously, though personally I would write "died" also. Regarding "this person should do some real research and not change what hard work other's do" did someone say that about you? If so, where and who? SGGH 23:54, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Not about me - about the person that was picking on the "died/passed away issue". Bachur 03:32, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, that kind of comment happens more than it should on here unfortunatly. Normally because the person who said it is hearing it in his or her head in a much less confrontational tone than the way it comes across to others. Users are encouraged to comment on content, not on user ability, but it still happens. You'll unfortunatly come across worse I suspect! SGGH 20:15, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jewish months edit

I'm still working on some of the months, great job on it by the way. Could you add dates for Av and Elul. I've made a month template, and reworded the sections so they won't be copyright violations. I have to give you a barnstar for your good work. Regards. Epson291 (talk) 21:55, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
