List of Latter Day Saints edit

I want to make sure you understand the scope of the List of Latter Day Saints. The article is a list of people of any of the Latter Day Saint movement organizations, not just The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is explained in the opening paragraph: "This list includes adherents of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormon), as well as adherents of related denominations (as labeled). It lists those who are current adherents of a Latter Day Saint Church and those who were adherents at the time of their death." By "related" it doesn't mean they are connected other than by sharing some common history and/or core beliefs. --JonRidinger (talk) 19:47, 7 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

And added to that, there is a clear distinction between a "Latter-day Saint" and a "Latter Day Saint". "Latter-day Saint"(with lower-case 'd' and hyphenation) is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while "Latter Day Saint" is a member of any of the various denominations that are considered part of the larger Latter Day Saint movement that the LDS Church is the largest part of. See Latter Day Saint movement#Latter Day Saint vs. Latter-day Saint for additional clarification. The list is titled List of Latter Day Saints, not List of Latter-day Saints (which redirects to "List of Latter Day Saints), meaning it is for the broader definition. Probably the biggest reason is that most of the other Latter Day Saint movement lists are so small they would not stand on their own. Perhaps you should propose on the talk page of the List of Latter Day Saints that separate lists be created or organized differently. Simply deleting the info because of a personal view is not the best course of action since Wikipedia works by consensus. And yes, I am LDS, as in a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. --JonRidinger (talk) 04:26, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
