February 2013 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account if you wish, but if you would prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username to a username which complies with our username policy, so that your contributions with this username are recorded as contributions of your new username you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you. Re: your email to me edit

In answer to your question, yes, I did look at your edit before blocking the account. You asked that a change be made to the page based on a website bearing the same name as this account. That is exactly why you are blocked, so I am unsure what point you were trying to make. Whether that website constitutes a reliable source or not is another matter, but you absolutely cannot edit with a username that represents a website or organization. There are basically no exceptions to this policy.

Now, let me ask you a question along the same lines as the one you asked me: did you even read the above notice before sending that email? You seemed to have missed the point that while you are advised to avoid anything that could be construed as promotional editing you are perfectly free to simply create a new account with a username that complies with the username policy and go right back to editing. I hope this clarifies matters for you. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:34, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
