Bletchley Town F.C.

edit

Another editor deleted the article you created because you didn't provide any evidence that the details are accurate. Please reading WP:Citing sources.

If you follow the pattern set by Buckingham Athletic, you can recreated, but you must first find the supporting evidence. This is what you wrote: I've marked where you need to give the evidence. Material in italics is material that I think you need to add for clarity. Material that is crossed out thus is where I think it is confusing or getting bogged down in detail and so should be left out.

The library has the Bletchley Gazette on microfilm, you just need the issue date and page number.

Note that the Wikipedia norm is use F.C. rather than just FC

History

edit

Bletchley Town first formed in 1914 as Bletchley Sports,[citation needed] playing their first game at a ground in Duncombe Street. [The club] was reformed after the 1914/18 war, when the name was changed to Bletchley Sports Club.[citation needed] [The club had] another change of name at the start of the 1930/31 season, when the familiar name to Bletchley Town Sports,[citation needed] and became nicknamed "The Gladiators"[citation needed] has progressed a long way since then.

As juniors they joined the local North Bucks League[when?][citation needed] and after two years obtained entry to the South Midlands League,[citation needed] where in the third season they won the league championship.[citation needed] It was also about this time they moved to Manor Fields after playing all their earlier games at Bletchley Park.

Having gained senior status in the early fifties,[citation needed] they were admitted to the Spartan League[citation needed] clinching the league title at their first attempt.[citation needed] They then followed a period where, as well as deciding to change their name several times,[citation needed] they also changed leagues repeatedly.[citation needed]

In a quick succession of names like Bletchley & Wipac F.C , Bletchley Town F.C again were used and then Following the amalgamation of the two most senior clubs in the district, Bletchley Town United was adopted[citation needed] whilst membership of the South Midlands,[citation needed] Hellenic,[citation needed] and again the Spartan League[citation needed] came and went.

At the start of the sixties, having been admitted to the United Counties League[citation needed] they turned Semi-Professional.[citation needed] During this time they reached the fourth qualifying round of the F.A Cup in successive years[when?][citation needed] and it finally culminated in the winning of the United Counties League Cup.[when?][citation needed] In fact in their eight seasons as members of the United Counties League, they appeared in no more fewer than five league cup finals[which?][citation needed] and won it twice.[when?][citation needed]

After a short spell in the now defunct Metropolitan League[citation needed] they were finally elected to the Southern League in 1971/72[citation needed] and in the nine seasons they had only gained a modicum amount of success mid-table.

At the commencement of the 1974/75 season they changed their name yet again to Milton Keynes City F.C.[citation needed] In 1979/80 they ,s>gained the rewards that were long overdue by having had their best ever season in the Southern League[citation needed] and also making made their first appearance in the County Cup Final winning 2-0.[citation needed] Last known season in 84/85.[clarification needed]

The modern club

edit

Then the newly formed Bletchley Town F.C re-appeared in 2005,[citation needed] (started by the current Bletchley Town Chairman John Snead[citation needed] and nicknamed "The Moles") and entered the North Bucks League.[citation needed] They stayed in this league until the end of 2007/08 when they applied for entry into the Spartan South Midland League season 2008/09,[citation needed] where they entered two teams - one into Division Two and the other into the Reserve Division two. They then started back playing at Manor Fields for the start of 2010/11 season and are improving season by season. And now have reverted back to the original Nickname "The Gladiators". [This goes in the table]]

[And this goes at the bottom]

[When you created the new article, let me know and I'll update the template for you.]

Good luck with this - if you need any help, drop me a note ( please start a section called Bletchley Town.

About Wikipedia

edit

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Anyone can change what you (or I) write in the article space. New articles are likely to be deleted if they don't have evidence that they are true or notable. For the record, I didn't delete your article but I felt that the person who did so (quite correctly) was a bit harsh in not telling you why. As someone who has written many articles about the Milton Keynes area, I felt I should intervene and help out. If you don't want my help, that's fine and you are perfectly entitled to ignore what I say. But if you put the article back up as it was, it will be deleted again. At the very minimum, you need to say that BFC is a team that plays in the Spartan South Midlands League. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 19:06, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bletchley Town F.C. article created

edit

I have created a standard 'starter' article for Bletchley Town. As is everybody else, you are entitled to change it or add to it provided only that you provide reliable evidence to what you write. NB because your log-on name suggests that you may associated with the club, please read WP:Conflict of interest. Especially try to resist over-praising your team as it is not Barcelona. If you would like to add the team colours as per Stony Stratford Town etc, either just copy with changes or drop me a message. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 23:21, 25 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
