Jab We Met: WOW edit

I'm amazed.... That's great work on the Jab We Met article... I was not really aware of that article and your dedication...

I had only one problem: The reviews section.

First of all the section was mainly concentrated on the performances rather than the film itself, and it was somehow everywhere, in the first, the second and the third paragraph... There is no problem with praising the perfs, and mentioning them in particular, but it has to be done gently, and collectively.

In Jab We Met's case, the performances were the real power behind the success. That's why, instead of writing, "The lead performances were received positively by the public as well as the critics." it's better to write "Most critics agreed that the main highlight of the film was the leading pair and the chmistry between the two". I highlighted in bold the words that show how it is done via the film description. And then, collect all the quotes re performances, chemistry into that.

Why am I saying it was a problem? Because reviews were divided through the section. Parts of quotes from the same review are spread all over the section and it makes it hard to understand who and what and why... Taran's review for example appears several times in different paragraphs, which is odd considering he wrote only one review. Haha :))) Same for Subhash K Jha...

Thirdly, there are still several unreliable sources.

Nevertheless, I'm very proud of you Rahul, the article is very well made. In fact, writing a section of critical reception, is the toughest work. So kudos to you. Regards, ShahidTalk2me 17:08, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey you're welcome! BTW it is now still divided into three paragraphs of the production, perfs and directing.
I came back! On 24th, we had a short departure to Stanley in Tasmania (I could still use my dad's PC there LOL), then we took an airplane to Adelaide... It was sooo great!!! Then we had to shorten the trip unfortunately.. But it was still a big fun, and we'll come back sometime later!! Regards, ShahidTalk2me 07:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can we start the article now please? With the cast of Sanju Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta an a cameo from Katrina. It's definitely true. Read [1] where Lara talks about it. Universal Hero (talk) 13:18, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'll watch UMAH in a few days, probably on thursday or friday, and maybe even earlier. I'm really looking forward to watching the film. I was very impressed by the reviews. Re edit

Hey friend! I'm enormously impressed with your willingness to make the articles better. Although I will be very busy in real life during the coming months, I'll do my best as well. However, there are some articles, like Amitabh Bachchan for example, the making of which would take ages. This article needs so much info about his early life and career, critical comments about his 70-80-90 films, and to do that, we need books, not net sources. All my Bollywood books are in Mumabi, so I think it will be easier to reach high status for articles of relatively new actors -- SRK, Salman, Kajol, Akshay (their articles are somewhat better in terms of footage). Kareena, Rani, Shilpa are very close. On the other hand, Aishwarya for example, is much a controversial figure (because she is regarded as one of the most beautiful) and to raise it, we'll need to make much more. We'll have to cover all the Miss India and then Miss world space etc, which is very difficult.

I also wanna work more on the Manisha Koirala article, which I have already expanded substantially.

Also, making a BLP actor/media person article, is the most difficult task, I know that from my own experience. ;) So I would like to work on a number of film articles, which is easier.

That's a great idea, let's do that. Once my longstanding relationship with the Zinta articlee is completed, I'll be happy to take part (again, I'll be very busy, but I'll make my best). Regards, ShahidTalk2me 13:28, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

After Zinta, we'll begin with Kareena. ShahidTalk2me 14:53, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Of course I know. When you wanna request one, let me know. But it still needs some work as of now. ShahidTalk2me 16:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
No no don't get frightened. The problem is, well, if I were a reviewer I would say, the career section is OK, although needs some bits of copyediting and prose issues, but after that, the article doesn't flow as well as before. The commitments section needs copyediting, as does the PA section, I believe. There is some problem with flow, and probably WP:MoS, which I know nothing about. But the article is definitely a close GA, depends on who the GA reviewer will be! LOL!! There are some very tough and strict! As you see, one editor did not pass the Zinta GA nomination, despite it being a sure GA. You should not be concerned, my friend - the article is overall great. Regards, ShahidTalk2me 17:17, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thats good, I wondered whether it didn't work out or something. It would be easier if we could upload images more freely but I am glad the screenshot/poster thign is written into the rationale to avoid what happened before. Perhaps you could upload Zinta and Amitabh photos? As for copy editing, well I;m a pretty good writer but am often too busy to dedicate too much time to a single article. but if you need help give me a buzz. Yes I'd like to see a few more GA'S on the way, Amitabh for me is a priority and should try to be taken to FA eventually. I for one would gladly help develop that article if adequate sources can be found. Hope you are well ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your're off for the summer now?? Wow I bet it feels great to suddenly have months off. Get cracking them buddy!!! Yes I'll try to read over it and adjust if I can, I did also promise MS Praveen I would help him too with Riya Sen and his film GA's. Some of them are already pretty good and could pass GA fairly straightforwardly ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:39, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I mean these sections are not as well written as the career section. ShahidTalk2me 18:41, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stub- B class usually anybody should be able to make a judgement based on the criteria. Have a read of the guidelines for start and B class and decide whether you think it fits the criteria. Anyway such is the size of this site that if you make an incorrect assessment, somebody from one of the various wiki rpojects who deals with tagging will put it right eventually anyway. Hey Rahul! Tell me, can we upload images and leave them on the commons page without adding them to the article? ShahidTalk2me 17:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, here are the images which I would like to have on Zinta's commons page so that I can later change and update:[2][3][4][5][6]. Could you please send them for me Rahul? ShahidTalk2me 17:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hahaha not adding all of them, but changing from time to time. Also, the commons page is also an article for itself. :) I can't believe we now have images. It's so great! And all that thanks to your great efforts. I'm very proud of you! Yeh she looks good! I also think Kareena looks beautiful in the images on her page, BUT, I still think without make up she looks prettier (ie Dev, Yuva, Omkara)...:) ShahidTalk2me 17:47, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've seen You, Me Aur Hum!! Nice film! Kajol was damn good! Have you seen that? ShahidTalk2me 13:06, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
OMG the film is being amazingly criticised. Taran Adarsh and Khalid Mohammed hate the film, giving it 1.5 and 1 out of 5 stars respectively. Rediff was more flexible, but still average. Different people I contacted with via internet said it was a disaster, other said it was great. My cousin told me it was horrible. I'm confused!!! But I like making conclusions for myself. I will watch it for the actors, as I always watch films, regardless of what the critical reception is. Let's work on the reviews. What reviews have you found as of now? Did you find praising ones? ShahidTalk2me 19:08, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Are you serious? LOL! hehe not really, we must now keep an appropriate sourcing style. Remember what happened back in time with this user who started blanking articles? That's why I collected the most reliable sites. I have also taken some time to cleanup articles from non-RSes. I now want to prove the reliability of one site, but for now I don't wanna say nothing.
Well yes.. Akki was praised more than anyone else, Kareena follows him. All critics praised her, but I didn't like that they mostly talked about her looks. Saif I see was criticised for a particularly small role.. Well.. I'm going to watch it! ShahidTalk2me 09:46, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kajol edit

Hi, I have a general question regarding your changes on adding a reference for Kajol's father's funeral. My question is why did you think that it is important to add this reference? It is not a controversial information (nobody is going to raise a doubt as it can be easily verified on web). The problem is that later nobody will be able to remove this reference (someone tried today and got slapped back by a bot) and later, it will look like a useless reference. (that is my POV :)) Earlier, I had removed similar references from Rahul Dravid's page, where references were there for his marriage ceremony and birth of his son. My question is why do we need reference for such things, which can be easily proved. I asked the same question on Rahul Dravid's talk page, nobody responded so far. Thanks for your time. Hawaa Productions Ltd. Motion Picture Awards?? edit

Hey!

These "awards" are clearly non-notable, and clearly not awards whatsoever. First of all, what is Hawaa Productions Ltd?? There is no such production house, so it may be just a fansite by someone who wants to make his own awards. A google search has nothing related to it. That is said especially considering that the "awards" site is, non other than... Tripod!!! It is an unreliable site in which everyone can create his own site of nonsense and fiction.

Other than that, there is no even minor notability to this "awards" function:

  • It is certainly not an award ceremony, because if it were, we would have known that.
  • It has no recognition in any reliable net site. Again, Google seems to be quite clear about that.
  • It is, as pointed above, conducted by Tripod, a mere blog. So we can't really know is a jury exists at all.
  • Again, there is no such production, meaning, these "awards" are pure fiction.

As of now, I'm removing it. I would be happy to add that back. Preity also won some awards for KANK, but it doesn't make sense. This is not an award ceremony, not even a notable poll, not a reliable source, not a recognised function, there is no such production. If you find some recognition for these "awards" on the net in reliable sources, as required by WP:N, we'll add it back. But otherwise, this fictional function will only encourage users to add that in every possible page, spamming the articles to the extent of making them look like fansites.

Dhun edit

Hey,

I've kinda understood your reluctance to see announced films going up on profiles, but most of them are true. Like here, Dhun ]http://www.naachgaana.com/2008/05/01/rajiv-menon-next-with-aishwarya-and-abhishek/] is a definite project. Rajiv Menon is a family friend, and he has the dates and script sorted out, just waiting for Rai and Bachchan to finish their current schedules. Is it worth putting it on the page now or later. A bit like Kambakth Ishq or Robot, which will start. Universal Hero (talk) 19:15, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Zinta images edit

If those images are still pending for clearance with India FM they shouldn't have been uploaded. Did you upload them? I thought they had to be cleared first. Because the fact they ar enow in the commons means that legally they should be free to use which is not the case. Let us know when it is sorted huh? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:56, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah I see we're still waiting fomr them to be OTRS ticketed. Some of my images uploaded back in February still haven't been sorted out! They ought to make me a commons admin so I can OTRS things! We'd have them done in minutes! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:01, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely I know what its like. Remember I've made tons of flickr agreements and half of them still haven't been ticketed. Ten of my images were deleted despite messaging to the commons admins that I have clearance for GFDL use in many statements which I've bothered to chase up. Despite this Riana who hasn't been here much in the last month and the others still havne't restored them or done one single thing to sort it out. Thanks. Mate trust me before you know it you'll be 25. Every year of your life seems to pass quicker and quicker. I swear it only feels a year or two ago I was 16 and I mean it. It didn't seem that long ago I was waking up the morning to go to school and seeing stuff on the news about the Gulf War and that was incredibly 17 years ago. Oh my birthday was May 4 and Universal told me it is Trisha Krishnan's birthday. It happens to be the exact year too!!! Trisha and I share eactly the same birthday!!! Holly Valance was born exactly a week after me too!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:41, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've seen a few which have aired on Channel 4 over here such as Dhoom 2 and some of the 1970s films a while back but very restricted over here. There is an Indian cable channel which uses to air 1970s Bollywood movies with Amitabh, Kapoor and Rekha but we don't get those any more. I've also seen one or two early 1990s action films with Salman Khan and SRK I think although i didn't really know too much about them at the time. Of course I've tried to see many clips on youtube and get hold of some dvds uch as Sholay etc but they are very expensive to import. I would love to see as many films as I can and all the way through the. I love the look and sound of the playback singers of 1970s Bollywood I must admit and of course now the top Bollywood actors and actresses seem to be even more glamorous and attractive than Hollywood in my view. Personally I would like to wikipedia start using film trailers of the films in the article like some of songs articles have sound clips - this site would become a lot cooler to film buffs if this could be done ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:54, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. I've a question on an image that you uploaded. Image:MadhuriDixit.jpg seems to be taken from IndiaFM and there seems to be some arrangement for the usage of images from indiafm.com. However, I think this particular image is a copyrighted material of Sony Entertainment Television since it is a still from the show. Do you think this image was taken by indiafm.com photographers and that they were allowed into SET's shooting sets? I am not convinced about this. Can you please clarify on this? Cheers! Thankyou so much for the kind words and award, that means a lot that you noticed, I think each of us has played our part in a way and helped it but I bow my bald head down to Shahid who stuck with it every day for six months. I tried to help with what I could, it wasn't always accepted but its not easy giving advice to somebody who probably knows more about Preity Zinta than any of us!! even after reading the fabulous article. It would good to work with you on promoting some of the other articles, not necessarily to FA for at least to GA. Some of the articles you have worked on would require little work to reach GA level.
