Deletion of Genie-soft

edit

Hi, I am not an admin so I don't have access to the deleted versions of articles. I can't therefore really comment on the content. On the deletion log, I see that it was deleted under G11 (blatant advertising) or A7 (no assertion of why the company is notable enough to be included in Wikipedia). The best you can do is contacting one of the deleting admins (their name is on the deletion log) to ask them to review their decision. Ultimately, you can seek a Community deletion review, but the best way is to directly ask the admins. -- lucasbfr talk 12:36, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The reason I deleted Genie-soft is that the page did not make out a claim to notability. I note Cryptic has also deleted the page. It did not identify any secondary sources which have covered the subject, nor did it claim a particular notability over and above any ordinary software company. If you can demonstrate that the company is particularly notable, and has been the subject of multiple non-trivial mentions in independent publications, then an article on it might stand a chance of inclusion. It's really not me you have to convince. As long as you can demonstrate the notability of Genie-soft, which is best done through referring to multiple independent non-trivial mentions, then it will not be a candidate for speedy deletion. I'm bound to say that I'm not sure that a review, even a positive review, in a PC magazine counts as a particularly useful mention because they will review almost all significant software. Genie Backup Manager

edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Genie Backup Manager, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Dynaflow babble 09:18, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Genie Backup Manager on List of backup software

edit

Please stop adding Genie Backup Manager to List of backup software when it is already in the list. While I'm sure it can do both single computer or networked backups, so can many other utilities in that list. Still, every product is only listed ONCE. --Karnesky 15:24, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
