Managing a conflict of interest edit

Hello, Ayanda Olushola Sunday. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article International Journal of Chemical, Material and Environmental Research, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Randykitty (talk) 13:54, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am the Editor-in-chief of the journal and i also write all that is contained in the journal website. What do you advise that i do in order that this might not be deleted?--Ayanda Olushola Sunday (talk) 16:47, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't think you should do that. The journals is very new and does not yet meet our inclusion criteria. Please see WP:NJournals and WP:GNG. --Randykitty (talk) 17:29, 4 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

October 2014 edit

Hi Randykitty, i have read and understand about managing a conflict of interest on wikipedia, kindly reactivate my user page.

Moreover, i remembered that i inquire from wikipedia if i can put all my information on my wiki userpage and i was replied yes (at that time i initially wanted to create a page for myself and was advised not to do so, this prompted a user to agree i can put all information about me on my wiki userpage

I am saying this because i am not sure if my user was blocked as a result of the international journal of chemical, material and environmental research page i created or as a result of all my information on my wiki userpage--Ayanda Olushola Sunday (talk) 02:41, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • On your user page you can indeed put as much information as you want, related to your WP activity. In addition, you can put a limited amount of personal information (something like "in real life I am an xyz". WP is not a social networking or webhosting service. For that, you have LinkedIn and Facebook. See WP:USERPAGE for the relevant guidelines. Thanks. --Randykitty (talk) 08:03, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi Randykitty, i understand now, kindly reactivate my userpage and i will revise accordingly. Moreover, kindly answer if i can retain my pic on the user page and if i can give brief introduction of my self, to avoid been blocked the second time. Once you reactivate, can i send you what i write before i save the page so that you can have a look?--Ayanda Olushola Sunday (talk) 09:51, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I don't see any reason to undelete the previous content, you can just create a new page. And, yes, you can give a brief intro to yourself as relevant to WP. If you follow the guidelines that I linked to before, your page will not be deleted (and note that you have not been blocked). --Randykitty (talk) 10:33, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • This is what i intend to put now. kindly assist to check if i its ok
