Welcome to Wikipedia edit

Hi, axolotl is a pokemon. My favourite one is Alolan Ninetales. Anyways, I noticed that no one welcomed you to Wikipedia yet, so I figured that I should probably do so. How are things going so far? If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or at the Teahouse which is a friendly forum for new editors like yourself. Figuring things out here can take a lot of trial and error, so please know that you're not alone. I noticed that you created the redirect Sherk Forever After. Same goes for Sherk The Third etc. While I admire your intent, I personally don't think it is a likely typo. I'd advise you to stop creating redirects like that for now. Have you read this page? It's okay if you haven't, but it offers useful advice about the situations in which one should create redirects. Clovermoss (talk) 01:55, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

At least three of my friends misspell "Shrek" as "Sherk". Axolotl is a Pokemon (talk) 01:58, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
While I believe that your friends mispell it as that, I still think that this is typically an unlikely typo. The key word is unlikely. It's not impossible someone could make it but I personally don't think it's common enough to warrant countless redirects. That's why I gave the advice that I did. I could be wrong here but I'm just writing down my perspective, as you've written yours. I'd still encourage you to read more about redirects before continuing to create them, though. Regardless, I hope you are finding Wikipedia in general to be a nice place to contribute and that this isn't too discouraging. It's never great for someone's first interaction to be "hey, I don't think you should be doing this thing in particular", y'know? I was sincere in my offer of answering any questions you might have if you think that may be helpful. Clovermoss (talk) 02:15, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
OK I'll focus on building an encyclopedia afterwards. Axolotl is a Pokemon (talk) 02:33, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
You can still do redirects, I just wanted to make sure you were aware a bit more about the nuances of when redirects should be created. But if you're interested in creating content, that's great too. Feel free to explore your interests. Have you checked out the community portal yet? You might find something you're interested in there. Or maybe a wikiproject (where people colloborate in regards to certain topics) would be more your style? Clovermoss (talk) 02:38, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

October 2022 edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Which Georgia am I from?? edit

The U.S. state. However, the namesake of my Wikipedia user name is the way I was referred to one day in 2004 in a discussion on the "Georgia moving poll" that talks about how Wikipedia articles on each Georgia should be titled. At that time I was un-registered. Somebody said, "If you are the Georgia guy please put on my talk page..." Georgia guy (talk) 14:31, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

"Egris" is a stupid romanization of "Igirisu", Japanese for the United Kingdom. As the word "Igirisu" sounds like "English", Japanese people may say "Egris" instead of "English". Axolotl is a Pokemon (talk) 23:22, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Name origins edit

Hi. I see you adding "possible" and "probable" name origins while providing no reliable source demonstrating that such serious speculation exists. This makes it look like the assertions you're adding are your own suppositions. That's considered original research, which isn't permitted. Do you have any sources demonstrating that these origins are considered serious possibilities/probabilities? Largoplazo (talk) 03:19, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
