Proposed deletion of Inquivesta edit

The article Inquivesta has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:N

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Avinash dash1997. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Inquivesta, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID). Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 10:37, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the article Inquivesta edit

@Muhandes: Hello, Muhandes. Thank you for having taken the time to let me know regarding the issues with the article Inquivesta. I am a student of IISER Kolkata currently in second year of the five year Integrated BS-MS course. Inquivesta is the official cultural festival of IISER Kolkata. I understand that I am an alumnus of IISER Kolkata. I have tried to manage any conflict of interest (COI) in the best way I could. Inquivesta is an event which is entirely student run. Being a member of the organizing committee of the festival, I have permission to use all files mentioned in article, without any copyright violation as such. I have edited the article so as to make the article as neutral as possible, i.e. removed any part which might have sounded boosterish and/or promotional. Specifically, I have removed the following sentence from the article:

"Founded in 2011, Inquivesta is widely recognized as one of India’s foremost science festivals[1]."

I have also modified the sentence, "A highly recognized and accomplished personage is invited to deliver a lecture on some field(s) kindred to science, technology or entrepreneurship on the first day of the fest." to "A recognized personage is invited to deliver a lecture on some field(s) kindred to science, technology or entrepreneurship on the first day of the fest."

Being an official representative of the organizing committee of Inquivesta, I assure that all the information provided in the article is official and authentic. The details of the events taking place in the festival, about which I have provided concise, to-the-point and neutral information in the "Events" subsection of the article Inquivesta, can be found at the official website of the fest, to which I have provided an external link in the article. I believe that any further citation is not required in regard to the information mentioned in the article, such as the information mentioned in the "Inception", "Events", "Notable appearances", "Structure and organization" and "Sponsorship, publicity and media coverage" subsections of this article. However, as and when certain details regarding Inquivesta are mentioned in reliable sources on the Internet over the course of time, either myself or any other Wikipedia user from the future organizing committee of the festival shall provide necessary citation(s) in the in the corresponding part(s) of the article.

I should bring to your knowledge that I am not the owner of Inquivesta. Inquivesta is owned by IISER Kolkata. According to institution policies, Inquivesta shall be entirely organized by a student body every year. This student body is renewed every year. As for the coming edition of the festival to be held during 2-4 February 2018, the current organizing committee includes myself as a member. I might not be involved with the organization of future editions of Inquivesta.

I bring to your notice that I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice from the article Inquivesta, under the assumption that the points I have mentioned here are sufficiently valid for justifying so. Thank you again for your involvement towards this article. I shall strive to contribute towards making Wikipedia a better place. Avinash dash1997 (talk) 15:04, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Left you a note below regarding the main templates you removed, please stop removing them, as they all very obviously apply, especially the {{COI}} one. --Muhandes (talk) 17:58, 27 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid even in a second look I can't find evidence this is a notable event. Since you denied a WP:PROD, I started an WP:AFD. --Muhandes (talk) 18:44, 27 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Image without license edit

Unspecified source/license for File:Logo of Inquivesta.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Logo of Inquivesta.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 17:46, 22 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Logo of Inquivesta.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Logo of Inquivesta.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Victor Schmidt (talk) 17:46, 22 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

File:Logo of Inquivesta.png edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Speedy deletion nomination of Inquivesta (festival) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Inquivesta (festival) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.) that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Recreation of deleted article edit

Are you going to do that every year? Nothing has changed, and the festival still isn't notable. --Muhandes (talk) 17:04, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Muhandes: I assure you that this festival is notable, especially among collegiate students in and around Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is just that there aren't many media websites on the web citing this festival's individual events or notable appearances. The only hard and fast references to its happenings are on its official Facebook page in the form of posts and photographs. I do not wish to draw comparisons, but take for example this Wikipedia page of another college fest: Karavaan. Certainly its Wikipedia page is still intact, and by certain metrics it can be shown that this festival isn't quite as notable as Inquivesta, but still is worthy of a Wikipedia page. Note that Karavaan is the flagship fest of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, a sister institute of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata, of which Inquivesta is the flagship fest. All in all, I understand why Inquivesta's page was taken down, and I'm working my best to generate some reliable source of references of Inquivesta's happenings via media contacts. It is just that I believe that the flagship fest of an Institute of National Importance like IISER Kolkata is worthy of a Wikipedia page. --Avinash dash1997 (talk) 22:25, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

We went through this a year ago. The subject went through Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Inquivesta and consensus was that the subject is not notable and that the article should be redirected. Nothing has changed since then, and you created an almost identical article this year, under a different name, against clear consensus. You also have a very clear conflict of interests so should not be editing this article at all, even if it was notable. I ask that you stop being disruptive. If you wish to contribute to Wikipedia in other subjects you are welcome, but please don't recreate this article again. If you think there is new evidence that shows significant, non-routine coverage that persists over a period of time, in multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject, I'd be happy to assist you in creating an article. --Muhandes (talk) 01:00, 24 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Avinash dash1997. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Seems you forgot about this, so here is it again. Muhandes (talk) 17:07, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:50, 24 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
