Siege of Badajoz (1812)

edit

Could you please have a look at the latest corrective edit regarding the 4,000 civilian casualties. I have ask this editor to provide a verifiable source to justify the figure.

If you read further into the edit I made, including the links, you will see that there is now a verifiable and trustworthy source for the lower numbers I have quoted.

As you can see, this type of re-edit has happened regularly over the years :

> 7 May 2019‎ 86.241.175.56 talk‎ 18,951 bytes -33‎ Reverted to pre-vandalism numbers. > 5 May 2019‎ Richard Tennant talk contribs‎ 18,984 bytes +1,168‎ revised civilian casualties

> 23 September 2015‎ Crystallizedcarbon talk contribs‎ m 16,759 bytes +24‎ Reverted edits by 163.1.19.1 (talk) (HG) > 23 September 2015‎ 163.1.19.1 talk‎ 16,735 bytes -24‎ Muir's biography of Wellington (p456) says that the highest estimate of civilian deaths at Badajoz is 100, so `massacred 4000 civilians' seems inaccurate.

> 5 January 2015‎ 83.113.239.186 talk‎ 15,494 bytes +4‎ restored numbers from before british revisionism > 7 December 2014‎ 83.47.32.151 talk‎ 15,490 bytes -9‎ The troops killed between 100 and 200 Spanish civilians, otherwise they would have masscred the entire population of Badajoz, which at the time had less than 5,000 inhabitants.
