Ric Flair/4 Horsemen/WWE HOF

Please don't remove Ric Flair's 2012 WWE Hall of Fame induction from his bio page.

They've already announced that he's in (via the Horsemen). The ceremony is just for show, Once you're announced as going in, you're in.

Your arguement is like saying that the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Title, but can't be recognized as such until they raise their banner in the rafters of their arena.

WWE.com already has Edge and the non-Flair Horsemen members listed on the HOF roster.

Bottom line: they're in.

I don't really agree with that logic. You're inducted once the induction ceremony is done, not before. But anyway, there's an easy compromise. Simply use future tense.--Atlan (talk) 01:02, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Sock puppet

Andrea Ljubicic (talk · contribs) has not yet been confirmed as a sock. Please be careful spreading that accusation around until the investigation has been completed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:45, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

It's an obvious sock per WP:DUCK. I don't need a checkuser confirmation for that. Besides, what investigation? I haven't started one and neither has anyone else.--Atlan (talk) 18:49, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Actually, yes I have. (See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ana Sušac.) I just didn't inform the suspect (which, in the case of persistent vandals, is an acceptable option). WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:53, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Oh yeah I didn't scroll down when I looked, my bad.--Atlan (talk) 18:55, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 17

Hi. When you recently edited Peng Zhen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wu Han (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You may be better off filing an SPI, it may be quicker than waiting on DQ. Darkness Shines (talk) 13:54, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Yeah good point, but last time nothing happened for 6 days at SPI, which is why I didn't file one yet. Maybe an ANI report will be quicker.--Atlan (talk) 14:00, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
I filed an SPI [1] If you have extra evidence can you post it? Darkness Shines (talk) 14:04, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Alright I have done so.--Atlan (talk) 14:15, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Note

Can I ask the reason behind this revert: ([2])? Soviet King In Soviet Russia, page edit you! 10:29, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Of course. It was a pointless note that won't draw any attention from "all admins", nor will it affect the judgement of those that read it in any way. Besides, the statement was untrue, as the user isn't even close to being one of the largest sockpuppeteers. The sockmaster tag is enough, no need to clutter the user pages of blocked users with such notes.--Atlan (talk) 10:48, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh ok, thanks for the heads up. Have a nice day. Soviet King In Soviet Russia, page edit you! 11:02, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, same to you! Happy editing.--Atlan (talk) 11:41, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Request for help

Hi Atlan. I noticed that your userpage suggests you have a pretty solid grasp of Japanese, and I wondered if you might be willing to lend me a hand with something. I've recently created the article Chikaraishi, a subject in which I've become (to my considerable surprise) quite interested. However, I'm now at something of an impasse; I've exhausted all the (reliable) sources I can find in English that deal with the subject, but there are still aspects of the article that need exploring. In particular, I'm interested in covering the religious/divinatory aspects of chikaraishi, something tantalisingly hinted at in the English sources, but never expounded.

My Japanese is beyond poor ("hello", "a beer please!" "where's the loo?" is about my limit - useful, but only in very specific situations), so I was hoping I might be able to persuade a more skilled Nipponophile to have a bit of a rummage through Japanese-language sources. I've run Google searches on 力石 and found loads - trouble is, I can't read any of it. It doesn't help that 力石 is also a surname, of course...

If you'd be up for giving me a hand, please drop me a line (or just jump in and start editing the article). I can't offer much in the way of incentives, but there's definitely a barnstar in it for you. Cheers, Yunshui  09:13, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Dont be a knob. what I meant was your link on his talk page does snot work :o) How the hell did you know I have been drinking? I do not recall posting that at all :o) Darkness Shines (talk) 23:44, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Yeah you posted "when I sober up" at ANI, implying you're editing drunk. Your recent behavior and the fact you don't even remember saying it strongly suggests you were telling the truth. I suggest you really do sober up, as you're not helping yourself.--Atlan (talk) 23:50, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
When do I ever actually help myself :o) But you are correct, going to pass out now, shall seek satisfaction form the grumpy on on the morrow Darkness Shines (talk) 23:55, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Huanggang

Atlan: with due respects, I have reverted your edit to Huanggang. I have stated the reasons are on the talk page: the article at http://en.hubei.gov.cn/hubei_info/administrative/201204/t20120421_346631.shtml , dated 2012-04-21, has paragraphs and sentences from several sections of our Huanggang article, some of which (Economy) date back to Feb 2006, others (Education, a few sentences on "population") were added by other editors during several years to follow. Now, one can imagine that an earlier version of the article on http://en.hubei.gov.cn existed for 6+ years prior to its current date, and several editors copied pieces of its during several years, but I think that this is rather unlikely without further proof. -- Vmenkov (talk) 17:30, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

P.S. I was really curious if the Hubei.gov.cn writers indeed use Wikipedia, so I took a good look at a few other articles there. There was no wholesale copying, but in the Transportation section of their Shennongjia article, there are a few sentences straight from Shennongjia#Transportation - written by myself (based on a local trip and atlases) and User:Zanhe (based on a news article) in 2009-2011. So it seems that the writers for hubei.gov didn't generally copy wholesale from Wikipedia, but they didn't mind using a few sentences or paragraphs of ours here and there, when they felt that the text is appropriate for their needs. Pretty intelligent use, I'd say, and quite commendable in my view :-) -- Vmenkov (talk) 17:53, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

I've reverted again, because with copyright, it's better to err on the side of caution. You might be right, it might be the other way around. But we need to look a further into it before we restore a possible copyright violation. I haven't done so yet, as I was at work when I removed the material. But I do intend to investigate. Of course, we can also take it to Wikipedia:Copyright problems for wider input.--Atlan (talk) 18:10, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Since it's been like this for 6 years without incident, I've put it back with a tag to fix the problem.--Atlan (talk) 18:20, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I've looked at the article history in some detail, so I am pretty confident that my theory is more likely. You're welcome to verify independently. And, as another piece of evidence, http://en.hubei.gov.cn/hubei_info/administrative/201204/t20120421_346640.shtml has quite a few sentences from Ezhou, some of which I remember writing myself years ago (land area, rail service), and some going back to 2006 (ports). -- Vmenkov (talk) 18:28, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

A kitten for you!

Hey, so I know you're a legit Wikipedia editor and I'm not. I'm mean you no disrespect but I've quite noticed that you've been changing most my revisions lately and I quite appreciate it. But is there something wrong with my revisions that I need to change? Thanks ;)
