Innodisk Corporation page deletion

in re: Innodisk (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Innodisk Corporation (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
see also: Special:Contributions/Jojo Chang, User talk:Mikeleetpe, and User:阿豆仔/sandbox (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hi Athaenara,

Full disclosure, my colleague was the one who created the original Innodisk Corporation page that was deleted, and she asked me to look into it. As it was mostly copy-paste from our website (and blatant advertisement) the page was rightly deleted.

I wrote a draft for a new page in my sandbox User:阿豆仔/sandbox and I wondered if you could take a look and see if it is more in line with Wikipedia standards.

I know that this comes off as a WP:SPA, but the company should be notable enough for an article. I've also been a long time lurker around Wikipedia, so I'm already halfway familiar with how things work and I would like to start contributing more once I have the time.

Thank you for your time! 阿豆仔 (talk) 02:02, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

The October 2016 Innodisk version by registered user "Jojo Chang" and the July 2017 Innodisk Corporation version by "Mikeleetpe" were very different in style but both seemed designed to convey the impression that the company is very important and we all should think so. That's the kind of thing one expects in a business listing on some other web site that isn't an encyclopedia. What we have here on Wikipedia are three users with some connection with the company, trying to promote it via advertisements masquerading as articles.
Many enterprises try to use Wikipedia for that, and many apparently succeed, so it's understandable when some who register accounts here, but aren't active editors in a variety of subject areas, may think that hijacking the encyclopedia anyone can edit for that purpose is legitimate. It isn't, and I don't want to help any company, partners, or employees who are trying to do it. – Athaenara 08:24, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the swift reply!
I'm not trying to make any excuses for my colleagues here, they went at it without really knowing anything about Wikipedia policies for purely promotional purposes. So I totally understand your reaction to this.
Yet, I truly believe the company has enough notability to warrant an article. A quick google search will give plenty of independent secondary sources to back this up and there are also several existing pages on Wikipedia that mentions the company. However, being a B2B company based in Taiwan, there really aren't that many people capable of writing an article for the English version of Wikipedia. So what I'm asking you is to look past my biased position here and evaluate if the draft I wrote is in any way acceptable.
PS: I fully understand if your decision still remains unchanged, but I would still love some feedback on what I wrote as I did my best to approach it from a neutral point of view, and I found it quite helpful in learning how to edit and navigate Wikipedia. I do sincerely wish to start contributing more to the encyclopedia.
Again, thank you for your time!

Speedy deletion of Zapproved

in re: Zapproved (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
see also: user Cbright67's 2008 post at User talk:Brandon/Archive 7#Zapproved, Kasey.kaat (talk · contribs), Usterday (talk · contribs), User talk:Spasage#Zapproved, Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 715#‎Speedy deletion of page AND accused of being sock puppet

Hello,

I'm the writer who put up the new Zapproved page. Please see my note on my talk page about the sockpuppet reference--I am not the user you referenced and have no affiliation with him.

I've also substantially modified the page from earlier versions, which I believe lacked citations to credible third-party sources and also copied text from the Zapproved website. This version did neither and provided an objective third-party view of this company, which does have merit as it is revolutionizing the ways the businesses govern their information and store it for use in lawsuits through the legal hold procedure: Zapproved was the first to allow businesses to do this in the cloud, which is incredibly significant for the legal industry. Moreover, the significance of this company has been recognized by Gartner, Inc., Deloitte, the Wall Street Journal, and the like.

Would you please reconsider your decision? I'm happy to revise the page if you find something about it particularly troubling.

Thank you.Kwalinsk (talk) 13:44, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

It is par for the course in your profession for practitioners to be appear charming, persuasive, and very reasonable. That's not going to help you much here. Your client hired you and your "scribe on demand" firm to promote it here, and you're apparently not the first it hired to do that. The problem here is your choice of venue: I cannot emphasize strongly enough that you should stop right now. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a free business listing website. If you persist, your account will be blocked from editing, your client disappointed, and your reputation sullied. Deletion of Franz Erhard Walther

in re: Franz Erhard Walther (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi Athaenara because I'm watchlisting Venice Biennale I noticed that you removed a redlink to the article that you G11'd on 2018-01-24. I'm not sure what the issues were with that article at the time of deletion, but I did want to let you know that in my informed opinion (I have been following his work since I found a 1972 monograph of his work in the early 1980's) Walther is highly notable; he meets almost all our notability criteria for artists, except for 4(b). Isn't there anything that can be salvaged? If so, may I ask you to reconsider the deletion? I would consider starting over by translating de:Franz Erhardt Walther otherwise. Al the best, Mduvekot (talk) 14:47, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's part of a case of undisclosed paid editing; see WP:COIN/Masterknighted creations, Sockpuppet investigations/Rudra.shukla, and User talk:Masterknighted#Other accounts?. If Walther's notability is sufficient, editors who aren't being paid to puff up his reputation can probably write an encyclopedic article about him. BTW, what's "4(b)"? – Athaenara 15:14, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
It seems unlikely that someone paid for an article on FEW. The subject is German, they would have attempted to turn the German article into an ad first, and that hasn't happened. The German Wikipedia (to my great dismay) is far more tolerant of paid editing than we are. But if you think his gallery is involved, check some of the pages on their other artists: William Anastasi, Miriam Cahn, Francisco Tropa, Clemens von Wedemeyer. I have encountered Masterknighted on occasion, most memorably at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joan Melnick where BigGuy, Brainplanner and Georgewienbarg also voted in support of keeping the article. I've always assumed they were some sort of radical inclusionist, but not a UPE.
Wrt 4(b), I meant 4(a), not 4(b); it is a mostly unused notability criterion in WP:ARTIST: The person's work (or works) either has become a significant monument. That specific one doesn't apply to FEW, but every other one does. I'll await the outcome of the investigation and then see about writing something neutral. You recently recommended deletion of a page that I created for "Chromocell Corporation"

I would like to ensure that I adhere to Wikipedia policies and did not intend for the article/submission to come off as an advertisement of sorts. I have re-worded the article and attempted to write from a neutral point of view. I have copied and pasted it below (not sure if you would have time to, or are able to review it here before I re-submit for review). I just did not want to keep submitting if it is nowhere near ready for publication. I would really appreciate any feedback you can provide. Thank you so very much.

Hi,

I would like to inform you that this article is false and utter rubbish: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muneesh_Sappel and should be deleted immediately. In future, we should make it the point that only admin can create this article.

I am sending you because you are in this article’s View History and you took initiative earlier to delete this article and ignored it later. Muneesh Sappel took advantage of this and written more rubbish than his previous articles.

He is using wikipedia page for his publicity and propaganda. I am quiet shocked there is no article about him on Indian newspapers and on google, what you find one …. Is only one liner. Even images on google also posted by him….. not a single newspaper photos.

In his article most of the awards has won by other cast/ crew but he is showing in his article like he won!!!

Please do see his sixth article which he has written again in 2015: He says he is “Indian and International production designer, art director, costume designer, hair and make-up artist” but there is not a single hint about AWARDS. In his recent updated version he won so many awards, he has become now Indian production designer, art director and costume designer from previous claiming being INTERNATIONAL production designer…

Now he has become an actor, writer, director, poster design, publicity set construction, theatrographer, production assistant, art director… blah blah….

His article deleted many times since past (10 – 12) years and I see he writes article about himself again…. than some same user:Sapna Shrivastav: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:SAPNA_SHRIVASTAV who use to write earlier on fake name user:Shruti Narayanan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Shruti95Narayanan takes-over…..

“CONFLICT OF INTEREST”

He is a paid IMDB member, which you can understand… if you are not IMDB paid member. You can’t write anything. Rediff References are bullshit because Sapna Shrivastav works at Rediff. Just see how cleverly he created and designed false newspaper article for reference on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=551791188210278&set=a.345572122165520.79274.100001382062100&type=1&theater

How someone could use his website as reference, he used it: http://www.indianproductiondesigner.com/PL/profile.php?ref_=nm_awd

Is there enough evidence for WP:SPI about those WP:SPAs that were IMDb-carpet-bombing that article? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:34, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
My technical knowledge of SPIs is nearly nil, I just remember seeing comments here and there that some accounts are "too old" to check, and most or all of those four accounts are old. I think the tags and the resulting category links are useful with or without SPIs and with or without creating the actual category.
We could block all those SPAs and just await events. He/they will either give up or come back and register yet another account to re-create content which some naive administrator gave him/them or which he/they saved somewhere else.
Or we could do nothing and await events (if any). – Athaenara 22:48, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Athaenara,

Excuse me, but who are you to delete a page purely on speculation? Don't you have better things to do? I don't know who Chandalupa is. It's true that I work for Magnitude Software but I don't work in Marketing and I am not paid for editing the Wikipedia. Besides, who else is going to work on the company's page if not for the people who work there? Did you also delete IBM and Informatica's pages for "unambiguous advertising"?

I made some updates to the page because I like my company a lot and I'm passionate about what we do. I am sorry if the changes I made weren't "encyclopediac" enough; I am very new to editing on Wikipedia. Still, that is no reason to eschew communication and proceed directly to deletion.

Why didn't you talk to me before deleting this page? I am more than willing to put in the work to make it meet your editorial standards. But I am honestly furious that you had the gall to do this and I will do everything in my power to get it back. Explain yourself!

P.S. I can prove that I am not Chandalupa. Google "Sara Singh Magnitude Software" and you will see my LinkedIn. I started at the company in October. Chandalupa was making edits to Magnitude/Noetix as far back as 2011. In 2011, I was 14 years old. Please untag me from the sockpuppets list and restore the Magnitude Software page.

Ssingher (talk) 18:18, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

I disabled the sockpuppet tag on your user page. Unfortunately, there is no earlier version of the page about your company to be restored which is not unambiguous advertising or promotion. – Athaenara 21:40, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
By the way, user Chrissymad (talk · contribs) brought the page to Wikipedia administrators' attention by adding the {{Db-g11}} tag to it. You might drop her a line asking her to warn editors of such pages with a {{Db-spam-notice}}. – Athaenara 21:48, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Athaenara I did notify the creator and I'd hardly call the few promotional edits to it significant enough to go down the whole list of everyone though. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 21:52, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Understood. I noticed the three single-purpose accounts in the page history, so those are the ones I would have notified. – Athaenara 21:56, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
You are lucky that Athaenara did not block you and the creator for being spam-only accounts. It is the approach I have started taking to obvious spammers of G11 articles. I do not want to speak for her, but if you decide to recreate it, try the WP:AFC process, and don't publish directly into mainspace. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:57, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Can someone please explain what exact language was so unambiguously promotional? The only part I can think of is the brief section on awards/recognition. I can take that out, but I honestly don't see how the rest of the article could possibly be construed as unambiguous advertising. It isn't any less neutral than the articles for other technology companies. I'm sorry we don't have more scandals to talk about. Why does the whole page have to disappear because I mentioned an industry award? On Informatica's history section, it says "In December 2015, Gartner recognized Informatica in its December 2015 Magic Quadrant for Data Masking Technology report." And look at IBM's brand and recognition section! Is this not a double standard? They didn't get taken down, so how was I supposed to know not to model the Magnitude page after the pages of similar companies? Ssingher (talk) 14:39, 9 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Just to say that Informatica no longer says that. WP:OTHERSTUFF is a common argument, but doesn't hold any weight here. SmartSE (talk) 15:26, 9 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi - johnsaavn here! Want to make you happy and will absolutely play by the Wikipedia rules! You have removed a page Icelandic Provisions based on a7 and g11 objections (notability/advertisement). Let me make some alterations - happy to improve the page - but also, let me share some info first. Re: notability. This is a product with ~100,000,000 USD or so in annual sales in major stores across the USA. I'll see if I can get some stats on that (which should solve the notability issue). Also, it's been written about in sources (many of which I cited) like New York Times, Bon Apetit, WSJ, Marie Claire, Food Network and such. Many were already cited but happy to add more... On the advertisement part, I will re-do the page to make sure all citations do not have a PR-flavor; we did a lot of that already, but we can strip out adjectives and such to make it strictly fact-based to meet the requirements better. Give me a couple of days, and we will do better. Thank you for upholding Wikipedia standards; sorry if we erred on our initial foray here, but we will make changes requested to address your concerns and hopefully, get the page live. I will make you happy here - I promise! Thanks! Johnsaavn (talk) 18:48, 27 February 2018 (UTC)johnsaavnReply

The above referenced article had valid citations from sources other than the company's website. The page was deleted so quickly I didn't even get a chance to contest it. New Dork City tried to delete the page, and Chrissymad stopped him. I thought it was taken care of, so I was quite surprised to the page actually got deleted after that. If there is a problem with the citations or some other issue with the page, please let me know, and I'll correct it. I think it's very unfair for someone to just say, "well I think this is promotion" and delete an article. The article I did for Ericom was very similar to the article about Citrix's XenApp - XenApp . I'd also like to get a copy of the deleted article back. I wasn't aware of how quickly an article could be deleted, I now know to archive it myself as HTML. I can redo it and repost the article, but it's rather tedious doing so from Word. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rabcfi (talkcontribs) 21:26, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Athaenara, you deleted my draft of Volt Europa on the grounds that it was unambiguous advertising. To be honest, first, I don't think this is true. The article is framed neutrally and is stating facts without any positive judgement. There are multiple references to other sources. I cannot quote any critics because so far we have none and also won't make up criticism for the sake of ambiguity. Second, a number of people from our movement would like to work on the draft which you made impossible by deleting it. I don't know what is wrong with your principles but why would you just delete a draft and not provide a copy for us to edit? We are a small political movement with the best intentions and people sabotaging this without reason is the last thing we need. So I'd be really thankful for some comments on the deletion and a copy of the draft.--TiberiusvVS (talk) 10:24, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

The reason given for the previous deletion of the page for Joseph Kropschot was that he was considered non notable because he was an amateur mma fighter. That reason is nonlonger valid, as he is now a professional fighter. Is there a new reason why his page should be deleted? NorCal4Life (talk) 01:17, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

"Going pro in 2018", had his first professional fight and won it. I don't know why you're promoting him. My best advice is to wait until he acquires (if he does) sufficiently more notability to survive another AfD. – Athaenara 04:33, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Joseph Kropschot has six fights total as indicated on the wikipedia page, including his most recent fight after he turned professional. His overall fight record is 6-0, 5-0 as an amateur and 1-0 as a professional. I listed plenty of links that demonstrate this on his page. Before turning pro he was the number one ranked amateur in California. He also competes in professional grappling competitions, and is 2-0 in the professional grappling Fight to Win series. He has competed in and won numerous other grappling competitions. I am an MMA expert and pay particular attention to MMA in Northern California. Joseph Kropschot is, without a doubt, a notable MMA fighter, and any MMA expert or even casual fan would agree. I'm not trying to 'promote' anybody, but I would like people that want information on this fighter to have a non-biased source for this information. Considering the reason for the original deletion is no longer valid (Amateur fighters are not considered notable), and the original deletion was quoted as a reason for this deletion, I would like a new (valid) reason for the deletion of this page please. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NorCal4Life (talkcontribs) 22:56, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Dear admin, Mollywood.lover is an incarnation of Muhammed.suhail. Starting from the common dot in the username to the editing pattern and common articles of interest, it is likely. Like Muhammed.suhail, Mollywood.lover is also a single purpose account created to promote actor Mammootty by adding inflated box office numbers in related articles. Edits were challenged and undone by various experienced editors. Mollywood.lover was created two months after the last block. I think that account is also promotional due to narrow self-interest in promoting an actor, and is always battling with other editors for content disputes. Mollywood.lover is just continuing what Muhammed.suhail was doing. Range Block

in re: 32.218.0.0/16 (block log)

I noticed that you put a 3rr template on an IP's talk page an hour or two ago, which has since been removed by the IP. Would you (or previous blockers @Bishonen: and @TonyBallioni:) consider a range block for 32.218.0.0/16? This rather widely dynamic Connecticut IP edits almost exclusively Wisconsin related articles and is rather disagreeable to deal with as you can see from their talk page history. If you would like more diffs since Bishonen's block expired, feel free to ask me and I'll send some your way. Thanks! -- Dolotta (talk) 02:08, 25 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Athaenara. I saw you edited Future Investment Initiative last month. I submitted it as a draft article via Articles for Creation, as a disclosed employee of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The article was given a COI tag but it was then added to significantly and copyedited. I don’t think that tag is needed anymore. Would you have time to have a look at the article and give your view? Riyadhcafe87 (talk) 07:27, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

While it's not as neutral and totally non-promotional as it could be, it's certainly not irredeemable WP:CSD#G11 spam. I edited it only once, noting the "Davos in the Desert" nickname and citing a Bloomberg News article about some corporate participants withdrawing after the Khashoggi murder. – Athaenara 08:59, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reviewing my page User:Tomasmath1991/sandbox, but unfortunately, it has been deleted, since your team thinks it is a violation when it come to promoting an organisation instead of the wikipedia guidance.

Could you please re-create my content for the page, so I do not need to write everything from the beginning again? I will modify the content and then submit again. But when I enter my Sandbox, my content is gone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomasmath1991 (talkcontribs) 08:28, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I took another look, saw again that Legacypac had tagged it for WP:CSD#G11 deletion as spam, read the content again. Do you really believe that lines like "If you have a dream of becoming an entrepreneur in the future, DSG is the right place to start" belong in this encyclopedia? The tag was 100% appropriate, as was the deletion. – Athaenara 08:40, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi again.

I am a new user in Wikipedia, and this is my first time writing an article in here. I am just trying to make things work. The purpose is not to promote the organisation. Of course I will delete the line, if it is a violation to your policies. I totally understand. I am just asking to get my text/content back, so I can modify it? When I enter my Sanbox page, The content is gone.

Do I really need to write a whole new page? Could you please give the text back or where can I access it?

SEFLIN pages

see also: NEFLIN, Miami-Dade Public Library System, Tampa Bay Library Consortium, and users Neflin, Dukeofw, Petercannon usf, Cshermanusf, Nevinburk, Kmccook, Mosca23, Ejrod117

Hello

You deleted a page for SEFLIN on the grounds that sounded promotional and at the same time objected its notoriety. The article was only listing the achievements and avant garde services put in place to help libraries with the advent of the Internet. As for notoriety, SEFLIN is a non-profit with precisely a long list of services that for more than 30 years have been supporting South East Florida libraries. It is hard not to sound promotional if we are forced, at the same time, to prove notoriety. Before your deletion, there were included more than 10 references and articles discussing SEFLIN's accomplishments published in newsletters and reviewed journals. I think, in all honesty, that the deletion was extreme and unfair. Isn't the purpose of Wikipedia to convey information to users? What's wrong on mentioning the actions of a group with a far-reaching vision? For instance, SEFLIN provided emails to libraries before even Yahoo existed. Don't you think that is an important accomplishment? What about the international conferences to let libraries in Florida and the Caribbean share knowledge and experience? Or sending books to Armenia? We are talking a non for profit organization walking the extra mile to give libraries a platform to grow. I have seen humanitarian organization pages mentioning long lists of efforts in Wikipedia and nobody says they are promotional. Are libraries -and consequently education- less important? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mosca23 (talkcontribs) 10:01, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I'm glad to hear from you, and I hope your fellow editor Ejrod117 will be reading this too.
I left a message last night for the editor who sent me an email identifying him/herself as your teacher, at User talk:Kmccook#Page deletions (please click on that link to read it). I first quoted the email in its entirety, and that part is still there, but Kmccook removed my response and replaced it with a single unsigned line, so I will deliver it here again:
(Begin quote)
Page deletions
Today, you sent me the following email:
"Hello, my library history class has been working very hard on the SEFLIN page. Two students attempted this and I asked them to merge. Your curt speedy deletion comment is going to utterly destroy their spirit.
"Could you be a little more expansive in why you have deleted a page on which they have labored? The edit summary was not very helpful.
"I am going to cut back on trying to encourage young people to edit for Wikipedia as I can't explain to them that they will mostly fail and not be told why.
"Any help that you can give in expanding the rationale would be appreciated.~~~~"
You, and your students, need to understand that this encyclopedia is not just about articles you write, and understand as well that user talk page messages about pending deletion and deletion summaries in deletion logs contain a lot of information which is linked in those messages and summaries and is intended to be read. I think it would be a mistake to "cut back" on encouraging students to learn to edit competently and enjoy it. We all learn as much or more from our mistakes as from our successes. – Athaenara 04:10, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
(End quote)
Now, the issue you're running into here is a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. If your primary goal in editing here is to use this encyclopedia to raise the profile of an enterprise you care about, rather than becoming a dedicated volunteer editor with a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, that can be an uncomfortable collision. I'm very sympathetic to your predicament, but this is probably enough for you to study and absorb at this stage (take heart, it's only two paragraphs!), so I'll sign off for now. – Athaenara 14:37, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • (Kmccook later removed the entire section, so I reproduced it above.) – Athaenara 05:54, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy Deletion: MONQ, LLC

Hi, I need to continue working on this draft for my class. Please let me recover the material and revise. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexob1212 (talkcontribs) 14:22, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Alexob1212: I do not know what is being taught in your class, but you have been writing what Wikipedia calls spam. Several standards, policies, and guidelines, which I encourage you to read and share with your class, are pertinent to this, including
The page you have repeatedly recreated under various page names is an advertisement for a company. Are you associated with it? Is the person who runs it teaching the class you're in? I do not know why you chose it as a topic, but this encyclopedia is not the place for such material. It is customarily tagged {{Db-g11}} for speedy deletion as unambiguous advertising or promotion. Experienced editors, including John from Idegon, tagged yours, which were subsequently deleted by Cullen328, RHaworth, Jni, and me.
I will not restore such material. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. – Athaenara 23:40, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
I also will not restore this overtly promotional content. Everything you add to Wikipedia must comply with our policies and guidelines. This draft didn't. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:42, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'd also request that the several administrators involved here please watch this user closely. If it weren't that this was under Wiki-ed's umbrella, I'd have been looking at this as likely WP:UPE. It has all the "tells". Anyone know, has this come up before? John from Idegon (talk) 23:57, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
It has: Jessewalker1106 (talk) uploaded Commons:File:Dr. MONQ in 2017.jpg in August 2017, and wrote the now-deleted spam Draft:Dr. MONQ (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) the same day. – Athaenara 02:52, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@John from Idegon: Initially I took your question specifically, today I'm seeing it more generally: has the issue of spamming via WikiEd programs come up before? That, I do not know. – Athaenara 21:34, 9 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Upturn15

in re: Upturn15 (talk · contribs), Ashley mansour (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Draft:Ashley Mansour (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hey Athaenara!

While I in no way mind at all with this block, they did disclose their financial relationship on their userpage (a few hours after me asking of course) and I was working with them towards creating a draft [2]. While I did have suspicions of socking (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Back Roads (film)) I was working with them towards creating a draft and teaching them our guidelines. Doesn't blocking them make them not want to disclose financial relationships and work with us, therefore leading us to deal with undisclosed paid editing in the future for fear of a block? I understand they can always appeal the block and the community is, deservingly, hard on COI editors so if that is your reasoning I 100% get it but I just wanted a further explanation. Thanks, no hard feelings please! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:44, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@HickoryOughtShirt?4: Paid or not, it was obvious that advertising and promotion is Upturn15's only purpose in editing here. That's what {{Uw-soablock}} means. – Athaenara 04:58, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks for the response. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:00, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome! – Athaenara 05:10, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Plaqad As an Advertising

see also: Draft:Plaqad (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), User talk:Domdeparis/Archive 7#Speedy Deletion of Plaqad, User talk:Athaenara/Archive 12#Plaqad

Hi https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Plaqad&action=edit&redlink=1

You deleted this page as a result of ambiguous advertising

Can you return it so I can edit it as i do not intend for it to look like advertising as I have removed all advertising words and frames and would do same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ladispeaks (talkcontribs) 17:10, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not ambiguous: unambiguous advertising or promotion. – Athaenara 18:40, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for deleting this article.

Please kindly provide me with additional information so I can recreate the article following the guidelines.

To address your concerns about the advertising or promotion please see my text below:

I am a student and art critic historian and I am writing a research paper on this artist; I have seen his work in important art galleries. I saw his CNN interview and chose to add to the article. I was not aware of the guidelines and I understand now I went against the rules. I intend to fix these issues and address all the Wikipedia guidelines. Please let me know if I am free to edit this page and if there is any further guidelines I should follow before I go ahead recreating this page. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artlover06 (talkcontribs) 00:45, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

All the content will be original written content. If you can please let me know if I am able to use images from public web? Or is that against the rules as well? TV Snap shots that I took myself? Please advise on any further guidelines and they will be followed.

I also made some changes to more artists: Roy Nachum - if you would like to take a look at it. Thank you for your help — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artlover06 (talkcontribs) 00:56, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Artlover06: The original article was created and expanded by user Kdv06 (talk) from November 2015 through June 2017. That version of the page, which never had copyvio issues, could perhaps be restored and further improved.
Your first edits to it began in May 2018, leading eventually to its deletion as promotional and a copyvio (copying text and images from someone's website is not proper encyclopedia article writing). A few hours later, user MarkZusab (talk) began an {{Artist-stub}} page but that was subsequently deleted per WP:CSD#A7 as lacking a credible claim of significance.
I don't adopt other editors or personally shepherd them through unfamiliar processes, but perhaps someone at WikiProject Visual arts (talk) can respond to your requests for specific assistance. – Athaenara 05:08, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for involving WikiProject Visual arts (talk) I wait for further assistance. Meanwhile, How would I restore the article by (talk) ? Can you help me do this? Or would I do this myself by going into the article's history? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artlover06 (talkcontribs) 05:37, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Artlover06: I haven't involved them, I suggested that you ask them about it. – Athaenara 06:17, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
I asked Galobtter about this (see discussion at User talk:Galobtter#Franz Klainsek page and Artlover06) and he's kicked it up several notches. – Athaenara 09:09, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Artlover06: is user Kdv06 also you? – Athaenara 09:27, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
No it is not.
Thank you for involving additional help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artlover06 (talkcontribs) 18:33, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

  The Original Barnstar
I appreciate you looking out for my page. I want to created an article on Michael Ikharo. am not sure what seems to be the problem and issues. The page has been deleted so am contact you to know how to go about it. i have the page on my SandBox now.

Thanks Meccoworld (talk) 07:10, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Meccoworld: The page that you wrote is not an encyclopedia entry but a combination résumé and press release for publicity. None of the references you cited qualify as independent reliable sources; on the contrary, you used things like the subject's Linkedin page and a twitter account purporting to be for his company.
Please read Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion. – Athaenara 07:44, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Zivame Page Deletion - Thanks for addressing as promotional/Advertising

Dear Athaenara,

Thanks for addressing about the promotional type of content. Actually I am inspired with their 2 theories like Women running business & Online-offline concept.

Let me start from scratch from the wizards for creating page with neutral point of view.

Also will be looking for help from you & several other members to make it happen.

@Vishgohel: That page you wrote was unambiguous advertising and promotion and similar in many ways to the draft linked above which was written by another (now blocked) editor. – Athaenara 07:10, 21 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Athaenara: Apologize for my content, already started reading Wikipedia Rules for page creation. I can see message of Socketpuppet, reading that as well. Question - Am I blocked for editing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vishgohel (talkcontribs) 07:39, 21 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
