on Anne Bradstreet

  • The page on Anne Bradstreet does not really talk about speculation on whether or not Bradstreet really accepted the burning of her house, which I might fix. It does mention that she is often sarcastic, but it completely writes off that poem as being hopeful right after. I will probably add more speculation about this on the page specifically about that work.
  • Bradstreet is said to be a transcendentalist in the wikipedia page, so I will either try to back that up or revise it since I don't think it is actually true.
  • Annebradstreet.org is mentioned, but upon visiting the website, it does not seem like it is legitimate so I will probably delete the mention.
  • I will add important information to the wikipedia pages that she is linked to about her works, because they are generally sparse.

Summary

edit

on Anne Bradstreet I plan to add a section about the reception that Anne Bradstreet was met with during her time. According to a scholarly article online, prominent figures like John Winthrop did not believe Bradstreet should have been writing since she was a woman. There is nothing on Bradstreet's page that mentions this, and the only comment about her reception is that it was positive in the new and old world, which does not seem to be entirely true.

on Verses upon the Burning of our House I will add a copy of the actual poem to this page, since the copyright is up. I will also add some other information about the poem, such as a little bit more in depth information about the style it is written in and the implications that go along with this- such as the possible sarcasm present.

on Anne Bradstreet Toward the bottom of the Bradstreet page, there is a list of her works. I will add a page for the poem "Contemplations," as I have found some interesting information on the form and meaning of the poem. I will add some analysis of this to the page, as well as a section for the actual poem to be printed since it is relatively short and the copyright is up.

on Anne Bradstreet There is a website called annebradstreet.org that is mentioned on the page, which upon visiting I have realized is not a legitimate website. I will delete this mention since the information is invalid.

on Anne Bradstreet It is mentioned that Anne Bradstreet is a transcendentalist on the page, but I can not find any information to back this up, and Bradstreet was not around during the transcendentalist period. Based on the definition of transcendentalism, this appears to be invalid information. I will delete this information.

All of these edits (and your posts on the Article Talk pages) look good, Astrode2. I wonder if you can find a source for the "transcendentalism" claim. I think it sounds, fishy, too, but it won't hurt to see of you can verify the claim by finding a scholarly source for it. Otherwise, deleting it is absolutely in order. Keep up the good work! All of these topics are promising, Astrode2. However, you haven't linked to the internal Wikipedia pages so i can can easily navigate to those pages, as well. Always make sure to use internal links and external links whenever warranted, which means your text will look like this: Harriet Jacobs.

So far as your topics go, any of these will work. Be aware, however, that major author pages (like London) may be heavily policed by other users, so it may be difficult to find a way to contribute substantially to them . This doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't -- by all means, be bold! You may also choose to create or alter an existing article about a specific work by one of these authors. Click around each author's page, and especially check out the Article Talk pages for each to get a good idea of what kind of work might be done one each. Ways to improve Contemplations (poem)

edit

Hi, I'm Skamecrazy123. Astrode2, thanks for creating Contemplations (poem)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. See The Raven for pointers on how the page needs to be set out. I think (although you may want to ask a second opinion on this) that the poem in its entirety should not be set out on page. I could be wrong.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Skamecrazy123 (talk) 12:10, 4 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
