Christopher Attardi edit

Hi, I saw your note at User talk:(aeropagitica) and since you hadn't received a reply, I thought I'd see if I could help. I've given you a template above with links to our policies and to information about how we do things. Here's a link to a summary page about requirements for a new article, and here's the page specifically about criteria for making a biography of a person. Frankly, I'm not seeing it with Christopher Attardi. I cannot see extensive press coverage of him, and his sports career seems to have been all at relatively low professional levels so he would not qualify on those grounds (has to be top-tier). The charity is laudable, but that does not weigh in the decision unless it has led to multiple writers writing at length about the charity, in which case the appropriate topic for a new article would be the charity, not the person. Can you find three extensive treatments of him, in books, newspapers, tv, radio ... ?

Also, if the article is created, it should be at the simple title Christopher Attardi, and be written neutrally and factually (in a boringly encyclopedic tone). The difficulty of doing this regarding a person or institution with which one is emotionally invested is one reason we have a policy against conflict of interest editing, and frankly, the name you have chosen for your account suggests you are connected to the charity (an administrator might also decide it is inadvisable under our username policy, which forbids usernames that are names of groups or organizations). If you have enough sources and still want to write the article, I strongly suggest you do so at Draft:Christopher Attardi (click that link and write it there or paste in your text from your word processor) and submit it via Articles for Creation (the code to add to submit it through that process is at the end of the first paragraph on that page); experienced Wikipedians will then evaluate it and suggest improvements before adding it to the encyclopedia when it is ready. Using that process makes it far less likely that it will get nominated for deletion. Yngvadottir (talk) 05:52, 4 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
