Khushab District

This article could use some help — I saw your name on Wikipedia:WikiProject Pakistani districts and thought you might be interested. - Special-T 14:36, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Certainly! I just tried to clean up some structural issues, but really can't contribute or edit the content (other than removing the chaff). I'm glad that someone who knows about the region is on the case. - Special-T 01:46, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I know nothing about Khushab - I think I came across the article in a "Random Article" moment and noticed that it needed organization, copy editing, trimming, and formatting. So I wasn't planning on continuing work on the article - I'm sure there are other editors with knowledge and sources to contribute. I'll keep it on my watchlist, though, and if I can help make it better I certainly will give it a shot. - Special-T 23:43, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Request for photos for Hyderabad, Sindh

Hello! you added {{reqphotoin}} and {{reqfreephotoin}} in the article Hyderabad, Sindh in your this edit. If you want to request for photos related to a specific article you need to add {{reqphotoin}} or {{reqfreephotoin}} on the Talk page(at the top after project banners) of the article not on the article pages itself. Hope you understand. Happy Editing! --SMS Talk 19:24, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the thanks

Just thought I'd say thanks for your note on my talkpage :-), by the way further to the above notice - I've added the request to the talk page. Regards, Pahari Sahib 20:29, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Hyderabad (disambiguation)

Just thought I'd let you know, I have requested that Hyderabad (disambiguation) be moved back to Hyderabad, I don't think that Hyderabad should be redirecting to Hyderabad, India, especially as when doing a websearch there are over a million results for Hyderabad Sindh. Add your comments to Talk:Hyderabad_(disambiguation)#Requested_move if you agree or disagree with this. Pahari Sahib 12:18, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of List of Pakistani video jockies

A tag has been placed on List of Pakistani video jockies requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Julesn84 (talk) 15:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I just viewed some articles which were previously in B class, all criteria points listed are crossed out but still the article is showing the rating B - class. So I want to ask that can this be done that if any single criteria point is crossed out it shows Start rating and in case of Stub it can hide the criteria points. --SMS Talk 20:01, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Prostitution in Pakistan

Hi, thanks for your message. However I will say that I have used references for each and every sentence because it needed for FA status. It is not overreferencing, it is simply use of reference per sentence. You can use a reference for supporting a paragraph, it is generally good to provide ref for every single sentence. Hi, thanks for your message. I have self-reverted after evaluating your comments. That was my misunderstanding on the Pakistan wikiproject related guideline. The other user who statrted mediation cabal is nonsense. There is no serious dispute in the article ZOU. The problem with the article is solved. Prostitution in Pakistan should be rated B class I think. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 05:11, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

No worries, I did that as well. By the way, check out the article on LGBT rights in Pakistan. It was seriously under-cited and I have done my best to make it readable. Not being a gay man, that is perhaps the best I have written. Please express your concerns. I am not yet done with it, but would surely give it into consideration for B-Class. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 16:08, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your support for Pakistan Military task force, I have looked at the article and it is quite well referenced but still some reference gaps exists(or only 1 .i.e. the issue of chief minister of Sindh) and I think it may already qualify B class. Just need to improve the LEAD section, WP:LEAD may help you in writing a more comprehensive introduction. Actually I lack the knowledge of the of this article's subject so may not be able review the content of the article much. --SMS Talk 19:04, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome!

Re: This debate requires your attention, buddy

I just saw that debate and yes you are right that this matter is not that much difficult to resolve and I have seen many edit wars on this issue so there was a virtual consensus among some editors not to mention the sects or faction of religion in the infobox as only religion is asked in that field, so anybody's edit that added sects was undid not only be me but also by some other editors. But some days ago an anon(77.42.190.154 and 77.42.187.213) started edit war and violated WP:3RR and WP:CIVIL and that edit war was later continued by User:LahoreKid at Benazir Bhutto and Muhammad Ali Jinnah and each time he reverted edits and marked them as vandalism even some neutral edits of mine were reverted by him in which to be neutral I mentioned both the sects(incase of Benazir Bhutto) or removed sects(incase of Muhammad Ali Jinnah) with references, you can find the related talk at the talk page of these articles, the dispute at Muhammad Ali Jinnah is still continued I think. And yes I am not going to participate in the discussion at the Project Notice board unless it is extremely required. --SMS Talk 15:24, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Re:

I found it disturbing to see you lie when you stated that the edit war started when two anons changed it from Islam to Shi'a Islam. I'm sure you were aware of these edits (as was user:Smsarmad) 1 2 and 3, by this anon before you wrote your comment on the project talk page. User:Smsarmad knew this before he wrote his reply on your talkpage. None of you, and especially User:Smsarmad, are trying to remove sectarianism from these articles. It can be seen clearly Smsarmad's earlier behavior that he wouldn't accept that Jinnah and the Bhuttos and Shi'a Muslims. Now I have spent time and effort fighting their sectarian vandalism, and I was happy to see that issue has been resolved. I ask not to undermine my effort by bringing this up again. Nice to see you and others working on WP:Pakistan related articles. I apologize if I offended you in any way, I will be more civil in future discussions. Meanwhile, I hope you and the other editors could watch User:WWGB and revert his edits because he insists on vandalizing the articles. LahoreKid (talk) 18:31, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Bro, LahoreKid's apologies are meaningless as he continues to launch personal attacks on others, see for example my talk page. I am taking the issue of uncivil, personal-attack attitude of LahoreKid to the page CommentOnUserConduct (,one example of which is my talk page Syed.Nedian-TalkPage). Have your say at that page, if you think you should act in some way over this issue. NEDian (talk) 20:47, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
After I was extremely polite to you, you were the one who told me: By deleting Zanjani, you have showed your ignorance and hasty nature. God forgive. LahoreKid (talk) 21:27, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Request

I'm leaving Wikipedia soon and I really hope that you and other editors could make sure that no vandalism is inflicted on the Jinnah and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto articles, especially concerning the religion, because as I've noticed, User:Smsarmad hasn't bothered to do so even after the issue has been resolved. Peace. LahoreKid (talk) 21:30, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU has a new format

Due to popular demand, HAU has a new look. Since the changes are so dramatic, I may have made some mistakes when translating the data. Please take a look at WP:HAU/EU and make sure your checkmarks are in the right place and feel free to add or remove some. There is a new feature, SoxBot V, a recently approved bot, automatically updates your online/offline status based on the length of time since your last edit. To allow SoxBot V to do this, you'll need to copy [[Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot]] to your userpage. Obviously you are not required to add this to your userpage, however, without this, your status will always be "offline" at HAU. Thanks. Useight (talk) 17:14, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Battle of Yarmouk

Asalamualikum, Hi, great work there at Yarmouk battle maps, but I fear that the scale you gave for the map is not correct, the battle front was 13-kilometre long, (11 miles), it would be good if you correct it. Waiting for your next maps for the other days of battle. check the battlefield at Google Earth it would help you in selecting scale for maps, or check the map in David Nicolle's book, Yarmouk 636. Regards ... Mohammad Adil (talk) 07:55, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I checked it, it should not be 0 to 1 miles its should be 0 to 5 miles, if you are understanding what I am saying. you can confirm it from Google Earth maps etc. Thanks Mohammad Adil (talk) 08:06, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
I understand you concern, but I had no idea of the scales of the battle field. However the terrain is perfect, it took me quite a while to gather information on the Yarmouk terrain. Kindly help me with the scale. The best thing about having SVG images (which I am using) though is that you can change them any time. I calculated the infantry and cavalry proportions and made the symbols in accordance with those proportions but the above scale mentioning 0-1 mile needs attendance. Thanks for your reply. I will amend it later today and hopefully produce the other maps. Please kindly tell me what other battle maps you need. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 08:15, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Asalamualikum, I have uploaded few images of the map of the battle they will help you,
Also another map that I was to made was of the route of the Byzantine armies sent by Heraclius, i will make its raw form and will show you if you can make it still beautifully than I will be thankful to you. Regards.
And yes the edits you did in Battle of Yarmouk's prelude section are quit conflicting with authentic sources, like Akram's Sword of Allah and Nicolle's Yarmouk 636, I will discuss them in discussion section before editing them. Regards, Mohammad Adil (talk) 13:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Brother, I know that this article is dear to you as you are the only person on the talk page of this article. Seems like you just talk to yourself all the while :D. I have downloaded these images for safe keeping and will use them to make a better map than the one already there. This map that I am creating would be a 3D map and not just a simple 2D rendition to show the mountainous regions this war was fought on. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 09:04, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
LOL, yes its dear to me, as iI was the only person defending this article against the western bias from users like User:Wiki1609. The main issue was the strength of armies, User:Wiki1609 was misquoting Nicolle and stated that he mentioned 25,000 Byzantine army personnel, while in reality Nicolle says 100,000!
So as the discussion of the strength is over now and User:Wiki1609 is down and out, I can now concentrate on improving the article. I will edits its infobox soon and I am waiting for your maps. I dont like them, I love them! And check my replies on the talk page of the Battle of Yarmouk. Mohammad Adil (talk) 13:14, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
I have made the latest map, please check it here. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 23:05, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 22:19, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Battle of yarmouk and your edits......

I suggest you to make a sandbox and first creat an article of Yarmouk there, like this as i did [1] for almost of of my articles, it will avoid confusion, and the current article will remain readable.

I am reverting your edits from Yarmouk's article and putting this edited article in a sandbox in your user page, once this new and improved article will get ready, then it should replace the current article at once. I hope it will not offend you. The maps are great and beautiful, but again there is problem with scaling. According to the scale shown in the map of the battlefront is just 3.5 miles long while it was 11 miles long stretching from tip of Wadi Allan ravines to the end of Wadi ur-Ruqqad. And the place where you have shown the battle being fought, is wrong, here the last phase of the battle was fought, i fear the source you are using is misleading or you are not completely familiar with the terrain.

I am sending you an image from David Nicolle's book, that shows the armies stretching on 11 miles front, and also i am sending you a google earth 3d image of battle field with the positions of armies I will inshallah help you a lot in understanding the terrain and making a more accurate map.

Moreover, there is no crossing over the ravines of Wadi Allan, and Muslim camps were not there as you have mentioned it in the map, muslim encampments were at the east of Yarmouk plain, it is not certain where exactly they were but Nicolle, suggested that there might be a series of camps in the eastern part of Yarmouk plain. I appreciate your work, I didn't mean to argue with you but I just want to improve you, and you are doing great work.

And yes, hill al jumma is wrongly placed, you can clearly see it in Google Earth and you might know it was named so as Amr's men gathered over it and it was in the right flank of Muslims army.

I have some new things to add, see this user page and I will be waiting for your comments on it.

Let us discuss all the disputed point the battle article, like camps, etc. Mohammad Adil (talk) 07:46, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Here is your sand box. Complete the article here, [2]. Mohammad Adil (talk) 07:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Also check this, what I have prepared to add in Yarmouk's article. One thing more, what I have learned from the writing the articles of battle is that, one should avoid the unnecessary details and emotions in the encyclopaedia article, I read your work it was good, but had some stuff which should not be there in encyclopaedia article. Mohammad Adil (talk) 08:01, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Thismapis taken from Kaegri's work and is not acurate, kaegri's reconctruction of the battle is quit unacceptable and is rejected by many other including david nicolle, kaegri says battle was fought in 635 ! and lasted only one day !.

i am sending u a mail and init there are google earth images of the region + where armies were stationed and map from nicolle's book, i cant upload them here at wiki[edia asthey are copyright.

Mohammad Adil (talk) 08:54, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Check tthese images, the id is (omitted). open it g0 to inbox and check the mail. They are actuall images of battle field and will help you a lot in making 3d maps and moreover I have marked a white line in it that shows the Byzantine front, (+ a scale is there in corner), covering the ancient roman road to Egypt and the gap between wadi Allan and Wadi riqqad. Muslims front was just in front of it and was 10 miles long. The sources mention a bridge in wadi riqqad, there was actually no bridge but a ford some 500 m wide you can still see that ford, a safe crossing across the steep ravines of wadi riqqad, in google earth, my mistake that I have forgot to mark it. I if you don’t know where it was, then I will send u another image marking that ford.

For the battle event, I will suggest you that you must not follow amateur military historians, as they are not as reliable as the classic one. From classic once I mean like David nicolle for example. And for the event of the battle I will personally suggest you that you should follow, Akram’s work. As he himself was a soldier and knew how thing work in the battles, and what a general decided back then 1400 years ago, he being a soldier can give it more accurate reconstruction. I my self being a soldier, can judge what’s correct and whats a blunder, and I have pointed out many mistakes from Nicolle’s work, as well as from Akram’s ( but in Akram’s book, it was not related to military event it was the logistic base’s stuff, the logistic base of 3rd Byzantine army … I will inshallah discuss it later, and my assumption was supported by nicolle’s work, when I read the same thing suggest by nicolle). Well, there is a clear difference between a “Professional” and an “expert”. A professional is also an expert, where as an expert is not always a professional, this is the basic difference between akram’s and nicolle’s work. Akram being an expert and professional can give a more accurate view. Neglecting akram’s work only becoz he was a bit bias towards religion while writing is not fair ! Yes, he left the numberes for the battles, unclear and didn’t gave any estimates for them and relied only on primary sources. The same thing is done by most of the historians, they don’t give any estimates and usually copy other histoirians simply.

I totally disagree with Kaegri’s reconstruction, its some thing new ! not related to the event mentioned in the primary sources, and is some thing based totally on assumptions. Nicolle done a great job, he took the chronicles from Wadqidi’s work and converted them into modern military term and thus is a reliable source. He quoted akram in many places, and the section of Ajnadyn, fahal, and Damascus and other conquest and nearly a copy from Sword of Allah.

I hope that the maps you will make will be accurate, and again I am doing all this becoz I really appreciate your efforts to improve the article and thankGod there is some one else who can assist me there at yarmouk’s distorted article…. And man … I don’t like your maps, I love them ….. ! I will be writing a new article of Battle of Qaddsiyah, as the current article is way too poor for being an encyclopedia article, I hope you will help me in making its battle charts, if you will be free. Regards….. Mohammad Adil (talk) 17:21, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Check, my comments on the image page... they are excellent man... ! Are you done with the yarmouk article ? or still some thing is to be added by your side ? Mohammad Adil (talk) 11:23, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Arun. I was wondering if you plan to make the Newsletter a simple but regular feature of the project?--IslesCapeTalk 09:52, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Veena Malik

Veena Malik is a very well-polished and complete article for a DYK. Kudos. - House of Scandal (talk) 04:37, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, but I am not really someone who can advise you of how to craft your article to good article status. I suggest you get some advice from the good article people, they should be able to help you much more. Gatoclass (talk) 09:09, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Facelift

I was looking at WikiProject Pakistan and saw how great it looked. I have a request for you. WikiProject Ohio is in need of some organization and a nice facelift. There are a few pages at the prefix finder, that cannot be included on the project page due to space constraints. I was wondering if you could help us out, or if you could recommend someone who might be able to help us out. Thank you for your time. §hep¡Talk to me! 17:45, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi

Hope you don't mind me adding Bilquis Edhi but it seemed odd that the actress had a better article than the woman she played. Hopefully the double nom will give each article more attention. I am not pakistani (or been there) so please feel free to add change or remove bits of "my" article. Cheers Victuallers (talk) 19:10, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Go ahead, there still time for consideration. I can be a double nom. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 20:00, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
