References for awards edit

I had missed that you had inline links but were missing the tag that caused them to display. I'll move this to main WP space, but it still needs a few links for the awards. I'll look, but you may already have those. Great article, and of course you can keep working on it. LaMona (talk) 16:24, 23 December 2015 (UTC)}}Reply

I have digital copies of some of his awards from his personal papers (provided to me by his son). I could not locate any online sources for these awards since they were received prior to the internet existing. Can I upload these copies as source material? Please advise. Thank you. You can reference newspaper and journal articles that are not online, but not what we call primary sources. So if what you have is a copy, say, of the certificate that came with the award, that's a primary source, and what you are doing is original research. Also, most likely any materials that you have, if they were created after 1923, are under copyright, so you cannot upload them. Could you say what kind of materials they are? Then I could give you more specific advice. Thanks, LaMona (talk) 18:25, 4 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have copies of the award certificates and one photo of the actual award that his son sent me.Artist4Equality (talk) 18:36, 4 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't think those can be used. Let me see if I can find the right notice board where we can ask. LaMona (talk) 16:08, 5 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Aha! It's Wikipedia:No_original_research/Noticeboard. You should go there, give them the link to the article, and then describe this situation in a few sentences. I've marked the page so I'll see when you add your question and when anyone answers. LaMona (talk) 16:11, 5 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
