VT Shooting

Arsonal:

The Virginia Tech massacre shooter Cho Seung-hui apparently is a '03 grad of Westfield High School according to to the Washginton Post. Just a heads up, the article may get ugly. Zidel333 16:31, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I don't know what to say either. The whole thing is just terrible. Zidel333 17:25, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I have speedied Image:Collegiatetimes041707.jpg. The fair use claim is not valid for high resolution images. You are welcome to upload a low-resolution image and add a detailed fair use rationale. Thanks, BanyanTree 22:36, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

WHS

OK, I'll keep an eye on it then. At least it is semi-protected. Your work on it the past couple of days has been awesome. Zidel333 05:44, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

You like the History section? Do you think it's too slanted or off kilter? It needs work, but I don't know what to add at the moment. Nor can I think of how to use those random articles we found yesterday. Zidel333 05:59, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Indonesia collaboration

New collaboration...

Hello everybody. I’ve updated the current Indonesia collaboration to > > > Central Java < < <

This article’s not in a very good condition but such a significant part of Indonesia, the cultural heart of the Javanese. Please contribute! Thanks to all those contributed to the previous collaboration Sidoarjo mud flow particularly Indon.

The next collaboration...

For the next collaboration in a fortnight, I’d like to try something different. Let’s chose a stub rather than an already well-developed article. Here is a list of Indonesian stubs to choose (there’s two pages). Please check the article's importance rating – let's chose an important and significant article that will appeal to a broad range of people. Please do not choose an obscure and/or esoteric topic that is not very important. Please place your nomination here.

Any questions, please let me know. Kind regards --Merbabu 05:01, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

The Guardian Cont.

Hi Arsonal, I looked through the 2006 yearbook, and haven't found anything yet. When I have time later today, I'm going to do a page by page review of the entire book for any references to trailers. If we wait a month, the 2007 yearbooks come out, and the need ref. may be in there. Also, when I manage to fanagle to go to WHS for teh pictures, in the main Counselor Office there is a collection of all the past Watch Dogs newspapers, I can look through those too if they are acceptable.

Also, do you think we should work in the Watchdog's issues with its alleged criticism with Muslims? I believe CAIR had an issue with it, in any case ithere was a definite Muslim community response. It caused Mr. Paugh to lose/leave his position as the teacher in charge of the Watchdog. Zidel333 15:17, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Positive, Mr. Paugh told me himself, and the Watchdog has at least 1 article, and an opinion on the entire affair which can be cited. Personally, I want to go throught the entire Watchdog articles to see if there is anything else worth mentioning. Hopefully by June this can be done.... PS No luck on the Yearbook. cpop music portal

Perhaps we should give this thing a go.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Portal/Instructions. You seem more familiar than me with Wiki language, so yeah. - Pandacomics 20:30, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

I think it's fair to include Mayday and say, FIR and Beyond. Because they're popular, and I guess we could broaden the word "C-pop" to mean "music sung in a Chinese dialect that is well-received, i.e. 'popular' ". - Pandacomics 00:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:JolinCastle.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:JolinCastle.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:38, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Translation of user page

Hello Arsonal, I'm hoping you have some time to help Wikipedia out a little. While I was going though the pages proposed for deletion, I found the user page of User:Azmsdm. I think it's written in Indonesian. I was hoping you could have a quick look and let us all know if it's nonsense or what exactly the author is trying to accomplish. Thanks for your time. — The Storm Surfer 12:04, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Secret (2007 film)

Hello Arsonal, really great job on the Secret (2007 film)! Thanks also for all the updates to Jay Chou! Much appreciated! SeleneFN 18:24, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

C-pop workgroup

I'm gauging interest for a C-pop workgroup, and seeing as you contributed quite a bit to a number of articles, I was wondering if you'd be interested. - Pandacomics 18:25, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:K_one.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:K_one.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 11:44, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

DC Meetup 6/21

Hi,

I don't know if you're in the area or not, but there is the DC Wikipedia Meet Up this Saturday, the 21st. I'm trying to go, but I may be out of town. Thought I should give you a heads up. Zidel333 16:57, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia Questions

Hi,

I am an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at Boston College, and I am researching the development of the Wikipedia article on the Virginia Tech Massacre. You were among the top 2% of editors for that article, and I was wondering if you’d be willing to answer a few questions by email. Please also indicate at the bottom if you’d be willing to participate in a short follow-up phone/Skype interview as well.

All of your responses and your participation will be confidential. Please cut and paste the below questions and respond by email to gerald.kane@bc.edu to ensure confidentiality.

I appreciate your help on this project, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Please also let me know if you are interested in receiving a copy of the paper when it is finished.

Thank You, Gerald C (Jerry) Kane, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Information Systems Carroll School of Management Boston College 140 Commonwealth Ave 326 Fulton Hall Chestnut Hill, MA 02478

What do you think? Pandacomics 21:04, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Personally, I don't mind album pages being created, so long as they have translated tracks, release dates, an album cover and some sort of chronology. Pandacomics 20:58, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

DYK

On 25 July, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Deserts Chang, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

no secrets

It's actually being done as a summer drama by a couple of Hong Kong DJs along with Jay Chou. I looked it up, and it seems pretty legit, even if it is for a few episodes.

It most certainly looks like him.

And I quote : "而呢套劇無獨有偶亦都係TEENPOWER第一套劇----沒有不能說的秘密" ("And this drama, with all idols and no nobodies, also happens to be Teen Power's first drama - No Secrets ") Pandacomics 18:09, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Good call. Oh, and while you're at it, check out the Templates page on the new workgroup (as well as the naming conventions). Pandacomics 04:50, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

wpchina

Haha! We're both trying to edit the same template. I see you're trying to put a portal link in there. The portal code is leaking onto all China articles. I'm trying to include a second importance field because our importance scale differs from that of WP:China (since we deal with music, and they deal with...all other Chinese topics.) Pandacomics 06:18, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

It's alright. We're probably the biggest banner noobs ever. Pandacomics 06:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Phew, haha. This is tough stuff. Pandacomics 06:39, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

short-term solution

I think a short term solution to the importance discrepancy between us and WP:China is simply not to tag the importance thing just yet. If we get more members coming along, then we can probably relax knowing that it's not just the two of us tagging categories, putting up banners, collaborating on articles, etc. etc. Having the importance to deal with is just going to make things more stressful. My head is tired from categorizing last night. See Category:Cantopop artists and Category:Mandopop artists, and all of their sub-categories. Pandacomics 01:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

...you do realize that the bulk of the Fahrenheit (Taiwanese band) article consists of rumours coming up, and them denying it, right. Pandacomics 19:43, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I was referring to that section. But having rumours denied doesn't exactly serve an informative purpose. We could, however, edit the thing to describe how they've stuck together in spite of media speculations of bad chemistry. Pandacomics 20:05, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Indonesia fortnightly collaboration = Jakarta

Hello there Arsonal/Archive2, this fortnight's Indonesia project collaboration is > > > Jakarta < < <. Please contribute. The most important thing is to find reliable references for all existing information, and for any new info added.

Also, please help nominate an article for the next collaboration at the collab nomination page. An underdeveloped or stub article is preferred over a long and developed article. Please nominate up to two articles. any questions, please let me know. Kind regards and happy editing. --Merbabu 11:34, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

hello hello

Thanks as well. And nice to see you back. A new policy was implemented within the last month or so on the removal of flags from infoboxes for the sake of not provoking nationalistic sentiments and all that politically charged stuff. So for the time being, myself, Benjwong, and Hong are removing flags as we pass by pages and stuff. Pandacomics (talk) 18:47, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
