April 2013

Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to The 20/20 Experience, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you to seek consensus for certain edits. Thank you. Dan56 (talk) 03:15, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:MGMT album cover art.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:MGMT album cover art.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 02:39, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Your adds on Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack article

Hi, As per my descriptions on my reverts of your edits, the Favored Nations article and the band are not related in anyway. The article is about the record label and doesn't have any relations to the band itself. We only link articles if the article is related to what we want to link too, which is not the case here. I hope you take this on board in your future edits and first find out if the article has any relation to you want to link before making the edit. TheDeviantPro (talk) 00:46, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, I misread your description a bit for the revert. Thanks for letting me know. Aria1561 (talk) 01:06, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

Please stop adding stuff about the new album of Muse before they clearly confirm the title. It's still all speculation. Last album the single Madness was released before the The 2nd Law, so it could be a single. There is no clearness. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 23:20, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kendrick Lamar - Untitled album cover art.png

A tag has been placed on File:Kendrick Lamar - Untitled album cover art.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation pages

Hello, Aria1561. When you changed Doom (video game) to redirect to a disambiguation page, you may not have been aware of WP:FIXDABLINKS, which says:

When creating disambiguation pages, fix all resulting mis-directed links.
Before moving an article to a qualified name (in order to create a disambiguation page at the base name, to move an existing disambiguation page to that name, or to redirect that name to a disambiguation page), click on What links here to find all of the incoming links. Repair all of those incoming links to use the new article name.

It would be a great help if you would check the other Wikipedia articles that contain links to "Doom (video game)" and fix them to take readers to the correct article. Thanks. R'n'B (call me Russ) 12:13, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your work on FFS. Unfortunately, disambiguation pages do not follow the same stylistic rules as normal pages. In particular,

A-ha - Take on me

I wonder if you are responsible for reverting all the effort I took in regards to the "A-ha - Take on me" page. If so, I would like to recieve your feedback. JustChecking1970 (talk) 04:46, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

I've noticed you reverted a few things once again which is ok but I rather would like to see you contact me so we can discuss some differences(?) regarding the info on this page. It's not that I have the moral highground when it comes to A-ha but I know a lot about 80's music. Looking forward to hear from you if necessary. JustChecking1970 (talk) 03:09, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Forgot to mention that the main reason why I am being miticulously about this page, has to do with the fact that there are TWO versions merged into ONE page. Especially for this song it's "important" to know that there's a Tony Mansfield/John Ratcliff version and an Alan Tarney version. I thought this wasn't made clear enough. I thank you though for keeping the tracklist intact. Maybe we can learn ftom each-other. JustChecking1970 (talk) 03:20, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

There's one minor thing I don't understand. Why you won't agree on adding the B-sides in chronological order. It also doesn't make sense to differntiate between a 7" or a 12" and adding the year of release in the infobox. That kind of info is meant for the "formats and tracklisting" subject. I am a newbie and I checked many websites to see how the layout is being handled before I made any changes at all and I stick to that. It's against common consensus the way you are handling the layout when it comes to B-side information. Don't take this personally but I've noticed that there are many people here on Wikipedia who have the tendency to favor their own preferences instead of sticking to the facts and respect the (unwritten) common consensus how the lay out of a Wikipedia page should be. I am only referring to music in this particular case. Contact me anytime... JustChecking1970 (talk) 17:45, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I've notice you reverted the capital letter of the genre Synthpop at the infobox, which is fine. I only thought it was legitimate to use a capital letter because it's a seperate categorie. Nevertheless I respect your choice. Thank you for agreeing on the first release date of Take on me. Once again: I don't have the moral highground when it comes to A-ha or (certain) music in general but let's learn from each-other if necessary. JustChecking1970 (talk) 23:19, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

Genre

Money for Nothing won the "Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal" in 1986 and, if you know the lyrics, it is obviously a satire about pop culture and other things. It is not meant to be read literally or praise MTV. Listen to it sometime. Secondarywaltz (talk) 03:07, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

That. means. nothing. It doesn't mean anything if the award has "rock" in the name. "Rock" doesn't belong in the infobox because it's misleading. For all we know, if we left "rock" in the infobox, people would think that it could sound like Nickelback or Nine Inch Nails or Radiohead or whoever, really. You have to be specific. If you can't solve an issue on the specifying, then you leave the parameter blank, which is what I did. Leave it that way until you find a source that calls it something aside from "rock". Oh, and your view on the lyrics being "satirical" is WP:OR. Aria1561 (talk) 03:17, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

I Knew You Were Trouble

Some template help

You remember how when you nominated something for GA last summer, you had a note in the nominations page saying you'd be on vacation for a certain duration? Well, I have suffered an untimely computer death (power brick quit working and I don't have a replacement of the proper strength), and I'd like to indicate that I may need a bit more time to finish the tasks of my nomination. Got any idea how to help me indicate that? I have two GA nominations coming really soon (no. 5 and 6 on the album list). dannymusiceditor what'd I do now? 14:35, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

@DannyMusicEditor: – Ah, yes, I remember that. You can add a note in the GAN box on the talk page for the respective articles saying that your computer broke down. Just add "|note=" at the end of the GAN box (it could already be there), and after the =, list your reason why, followed by your signature. It should show up on the GAN list underneath the article name, as well. Here's an example, which is what I did for when I was on vacation:

Hello, there, and thanks for the GA review for my Crime Cutz article. I'd suggest that if you have that the time to review my No Stairway article for GA, thanks! :) editorEهեইдအ😎 19:49, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

I Like It When You Sleep - vague pop genre

I am further confused by the article's talk page comment that there are sources claiming vague "pop" genre. Can you reach its consensus first? 123.136.106.104 (talk) 14:17, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Adding albums to List of 2017 albums

Hey, I saw you added Lupe Fiasco's new album to List of 2017 albums. It might not be important to you, but when you add new albums, you should check to see if they have redirects yet (and if they don't, create them), as people watch that page and create redirects for new albums if they don't yet exist. It just seems like since you were the first to include it, you might care more about being the initial creator of the redirect. Ss112 08:38, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

"Run Up" genre

Hi User:Aria1561, on "Run Up" article the genre is called dancehall, but the source given only described it as "dancehall-inspired production". Maybe this would be better? [1], here described as "future bass, dancehall beat", just not sure if beat refers to the song as a whole. Would like to know what you think, cheers.--Theo Mandela (talk) 09:22, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela: I'd say the source you provided is better as it actually labels the song as such. "Dancehall-inspired" isn't enough to have dancehall in the infobox. "Dancehall beat" would be enough in this case. Aria1561 (talk) 19:10, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

O.N.E. (song)

Hey, I see you created the content for Yeasayer's O.N.E. (song) (then located at just "O.N.E.") in 2015. We now have the user In ictu oculi debating (after moving it to One (Yeasayer song), then me semi-reverting that) that the song's title is even an acronym (despite how it's written on the front cover). Are you aware of sources stating that it's an acronym? I always took it as a given after reading it around various places, but not actually sure if the band said this (if they even felt they needed to explain an obvious thing) or if there are news sources reiterating this. Thanks. Ss112 13:20, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

@Ss112: I don't think there are any news sources or publications that have explicitly noted this in an article before. However, this interview with the band might help. One of the members notes that the song is about alcoholism, which is what "one's not enough" is referring to. It would only make sense that the name of the song is an acronym and not just called "One". It could likely be taken as either one, but the single cover art and album liner notes both list the name of the song in the form of an acronym, therefore the article's title shouldn't be adjusted. Aria1561 (talk) 20:15, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Killing Joke (1980 album)

We need to include a "title" next to the url in the source. Do you have the article of Melody Maker mentioning the release date or did you find a scan on an website? Woovee (talk) 20:12, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

@Woovee: I couldn't find any scans of this issue of the mag anywhere. A user (named Secondedition) on Discogs noted that this issue of Melody Maker mentions the 5 October release date. I'd imagine it's true, otherwise the date would have been changed by now for that Discogs release (the date was added to it six years ago). This isn't enough to you, probably. Aria1561 (talk) 20:44, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
I'm gonna assume good faith from the user of Discogs, and change a bit the source for not having anything written in red at the bottom of the article. Woovee (talk) 21:29, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
@Woovee: Taken care of. Aria1561 (talk) 21:55, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

Your post punk userbox

Hi Aria1561, Devo is a strange choice for your post-punk userbox picture. Good on you for going out on a limb and not picking on the usual suspects like Joy Division or The Sound. Cheers. Peter Greenwell (talk) 10:31, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

Still though, I very much enjoy Devo's works, especially their debut and Freedom of Choice. Other post-punk acts like Joy Division are awesome though I wouldn't call them my favorite (Talking Heads would probably be my favorite first-wave post-punk band). File:Rammstein - Stripped cover art.jpg

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. The file File:AcePhoenix007 - 22 27 cover art.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

DYK for I Turn My Camera On

On 12 September 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article I Turn My Camera On, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Spoon frontman Britt Daniel was inspired by Franz Ferdinand's 2004 song "Take Me Out" while writing "I Turn My Camera On", and was influenced by Prince to sing it with falsetto vocals? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/I Turn My Camera On. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, I Turn My Camera On), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

@Levivich: Glad that you enjoy the song! It's one of my favorites by Spoon. Thanks again for reviewing the DYK nom! Aria1561 (talk) 21:39, 12 September 2019 (UTC)

rammstein

Hello,

I made an edit that added the Mein Land information on the Rammstein Wikipedia page. I was IP user 197.234.221.63. I contacted a moderator on Wikipedia IRC channel and they said I had the right to remove the sourced content I added. I'd really appreciate it if you'd help with this. This type of thing will not happen from me ever again. It would mean the world to me if I could remove what I added. Thank you Wario064 (talk) 05:30, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Well you should have the moderator directly contact me then, because I refuse to believe a "moderator" allowed you to remove sourced content. On paper, that sounds ridiculous as well. What is the reason for removing sourced content? It's relevant to the political views section and it's backed up by a reliable source. That content is staying on there unless the moderator tells me directly that there is indeed a valid reason to remove it. Aria1561 (talk) 19:33, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
The moderator said I couldn't just removed sourced content, they said I could remove sourced content that I added. I edited under and IP and added the Mein Land stuff. I really regret putting that on there. You wonn't see anyone fromt aht IP readd id becuase I was the one that added it. I know this sounds weird to you, but I have though about this so much all day. I have OCD. I really regret putting that on there. can you please comprise this one time? I promise I won't ask of something like this from you ever again. Wario064 (talk) 04:12, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
There's nothing to regret adding. It's appropriate, sourced content. Regardless, you didn't listen to me when I said that I want the moderator to tell me directly that you can removed sourced content. Therefore, it's staying up. Aria1561 (talk) 04:45, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
I think it comes off as too anti-american. I see no reason why I can't remove content that I added. I'm not against leaving that quote up (that was not added by me), I just want to remove that stuff I added. Wario064 (talk) 08:12, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
It's not "too anti-American"; it's literally just three sentences of a writer's opinion. This section, in its current state, is neutral. It doesn't include unnecessary detail or try to unfairly make the band seem anti-American. Critiquing America through songs doesn't necessarily make someone anti-American. You can open a discussion on the article's talk page if you feel that way, but I will tell you right now that it isn't "too anti-American" and you'd just be wasting your and other people's time. I'm certainly not removing that content and I won't be responding to you any further. Aria1561 (talk) 20:36, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Jesus Is King with hip hop in infobox

"healthy doses of bass, pretty chords, hip hop sensibilities", "evangelical hip hop testimonials" and "own hip-hop missionary lens in an attempt to bring something new" are hip hop sources that doesn't only ref influence, so this works Kyle Peake (talk) 22:15, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

It really doesn't as it's still painfully redundant, especially given the amount of prose dedicated to the album's Christian theme, but I can't be bothered to continue going back-and-forth with you as you clearly won't let this go, for some weird reason. Pretty weird that you're so dedicated to having an identical genre listed twice in the infobox. Aria1561 (talk) 23:10, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

"We never include the artist's "main band" in the opening sentence like this."

I can imagine reasons for this, and I don't necessarily think it's a bad move. But would you mind explaining the rationale?

It also creates another problem: the lead for The Eraser, for example, no longer explains that Yorke is the singer for Radiohead, leaving the reader to puzzle that out for themselves. Popcornduff (talk) 18:25, 23 November 2019 (UTC)

I would've assumed that it wasn't that necessary to mention that he is a member of Radiohead in the beginning of the lead, given that it's about a solo album (which explains why I said "We never include the artist's 'main band' in the opening sentence like this"), but I've adjusted it nonetheless to incorporate it in a reasonable way. Aria1561 (talk) 18:33, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
I think it's necessary to mention Radiohead somewhere in the lead for The Eraser at least, because the lead mentions that it was recorded during Radiohead's hiatus. If we don't tell the reader Yorke is in Radiohead, that seems irrelevant, or confusing. The reader might wrongly assume it was just when Godrich was available.
I'm always cautious of overloading the lead sentence, and I'm inclined to think removing it is the better move. But a part of me thinks the fact that it's a solo album (and we say so) makes specifying the main act up front is relevant and interesting. Popcornduff (talk) 18:40, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
I find my compromise to be the right way to get at it; not in the opening sentence, but still in the opening paragraph. Seems out-there enough for the reader to be further interested in the album, without trying to make it seem like Thom is only known for being a member of Radiohead (especially considering that he now has three solo albums and a film score). Aria1561 (talk) 18:58, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, good move I think. Thanks. Popcornduff (talk) 19:16, 23 November 2019 (UTC)

Did you know nominations/Possession (Joywave album)

Hello! I left some comments on your DYK nomination for Possession (Joywave album). Everything is fine, with the exception of the date you requested the hook to appear on the Main page. Please read my review and add your comments. Regards, --Paparazzzi (talk) 01:12, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the review! I did notice the special occasion rule on the reviewing guide, but I figured it was worth a shot asking anyway. I understand completely if it isn't allowed in the end. Aria1561 (talk) 01:55, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Please take it to MR

I see that you have raised a new RM to contest my closure of your previous attempt.

I'm afraid I regard this as disruptive. Please note, I didn't say deliberately so. But the correct place to contest the close is on the closer's talk page, and then at WP:MR if needed.

I suggest that you now request a speedy close of this second RM, to clear the way for a move review if that's what you want. You could still take it to my talk page, but I'm happy for you to now skip that step and take it straight to MR. Andrewa (talk) 16:47, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

@Andrewa: I would like to take this to WP:MR. I didn't know it was a thing, to be honest, which is why I reopened the request. Aria1561 (talk) 17:07, 9 February 2020 (UTC)
OK. Please at least state at the new RM that you're now taking it to MR instead. Then any uninvolved editor can close that RM.
And please note I'm not saying you're being deliberately disruptive. There is a lot to read, and we encourage people to be bold. See also wp:creed#bold for my personal take on that, and hang in there. Andrewa (talk) 17:27, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

FAC: Aftermath (Rolling Stones album)

Hi Aria1561. I opened a featured-article nomination for Aftermath (Rolling Stones album) a few weeks ago, and it's pretty close to a solid run of reviews so far. I found your name at a rock-related article's edit history, and wanted to welcome you to offering one more review, if you are interested. isento (talk) 02:56, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
