Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributor's help page, or you can write {{helpme}} below this message along with a question and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I intend to revise the article about the company ARCTIC into a piece of neutral piece instead of a commercial-like advertisement, supported by substantial references and facts. It is a pity that I am not aware that my username can be considered a commercial tool, and therefore I would like to use a real name for my username. Please "unblock" me and allow me to edit the article into a neutral and informative article for Wikipedia readers.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline: no response to COI concerns in > 2 days (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:30, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Arctic.ac (talk) 11:27, 28 December 2011 (UTC) I am working for ARCTIC COOLING which makes it more important to ensure the article a neutral piece, please understand and I would like to be unblocked. Thanks.Reply

That's rather problematic, due to conflict of interest - you should not be editing articles about to a company/organization you're directly related too ... especially if you're being paid to do so. Also, are you aware of the potential problems with editing using your real name? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:55, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • In what way do you think the article is currently "a commercial-like advertisement", and what sort of changes would you like to make in order to make it more "neutral"? JamesBWatson (talk) 11:28, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
The article was there long ago and I came in afterwards, I am here to solve this matter, in order to make it neutral, the tone of the article has to be unbiased and objective. Instead of praising the company, facts and descriptions are essential, at the same time, these information has to be backed by references. There is no way I can prove to you editors if you block my account forever.Arctic.ac (talk) 02:08, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Well, first of all, you'll need a username change. That'll be hard, still, with your conflict of interest.Jasper Deng (talk) 02:11, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Arctic.ac (talk) 06:24, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Thanks for your feedback, how do I change my username?, or can i just open another account?Reply

Similar to what you did before, you need to post the same unblock request message, but in the "reason" section, you need to explain clearly your understanding of WP:COI and WP:PROMO, and how you won't violate them. If accepted, you will be provided a link to where to go to make an unblock request. I would also recommend a quick glance at WP:REALNAME to ensure you understand the potential issues surrounding using your real name on Wikipedia (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:27, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have seen the complications involved in here and I have no clue how to proceed with this unblock request as I have been rejected every time with different reasons by different persons.Reply
