Use of © and similar in image captions

Hello – I've noticed from your contributions the use of the copyright symbol (©) in image captions, such as here and here. I just wanted to give you a heads-up that per the Manual of Style on trademark and copyright symbols, copyright and trademark symbols – ™, ©, ® – aren't used in article text or citations, unless "unavoidably necessary for context".

Your contributions are wonderful – I love seeing museums collaborate with Wikipedia to make their collections more widely accessible, I wish more collections did as such – but since the copyright information for the images you've uploaded and added to articles is already listed under the 'Licensing' heading on Wikimedia Commons, it's not necessary to add copyright and attribution to the caption for each and every photo, and it can detract from an article's content if image attribution isn't 100% relevant to its subject.

I hope this makes sense; it really is a small detail, but it's the small details that prop Wikipedia up at times. Thank you for your contributions, and happy editing!--Ineffablebookkeeper (talk) ({{ping}} me!) 11:13, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
