Well, fortunately I am the one to ask. First of all it depends what you want to write about? Is it a building? Notable architect? If you are hesitant, you can use a sandbox and yes you can be mentored. Bravery here is refers to bold editing and yes, it is encouraged. But small edits count as well, as long as they aren't vandalic.
