A tag has been placed on Hypernova (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. W.marsh 15:31, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Googoosh Edits edit

Thanks for putting in a source for one of the citation needed tags. Were you aware that you removed two tags but only inserted one reference? I will replace the second tag. If you have another source (or if the source you added also verifies the second statement, please indicate that). Arcayne (cast a spell) 16:29, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

After a closer look at the source you cited, it is her website. Is there a better source that makes the same claim? I am comcerned about a conflict of interest issue; it is her fansite, after all. I think it might be better to find a more reliable source for the statement. Thoughts? -Arcayne (cast a spell) 16:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Um, I thought the link went right to her fansite. I might have clicked the wrong link. Sorry about that.
Say, while I've got your attention, could you go through and translate the filmography? I don't speak farsi. I can look for the fim dates, although i will take any assistance you can provide on that front as well.
Some issues of fiar use have come up with the images, and we might need some more, so if you happen to come across them, grab them up and put them in the talk page. Thanks -Arcayne (cast a spell) 16:59, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Great work! edit

Outstanding stepping up, Arash! Thanks for helping out. Would you happen to have some of the release dates for the movies or albums? Arcayne (cast a spell) 15:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree. There is still some stuff that needs citation, but none of it warrants a tag. I'll remove both immediately. Again, nice work! :)Arcayne (cast a spell) 21:48, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
You are awesome, Arash! Great job on filling the blanks! :D -Arcayne (cast a spell) 02:04, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering if there isn't a better picture of Googoosh to use as the main picture. I find the strange hexing to be distracting. I could look about for a version that doesn't have one, unless we want to go with a more current picture. What do you think? Arcayne (cast a spell) 07:46, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I don't like the image either. You are right, since she is active now it is better use a more recent image in the infobox. I will look for a better picture.(Arash the Archer 17:35, 29 April 2007 (UTC))Reply

Your edit to Mapna edit

Message posted on Thursday, May 3, 2007 edit

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Mapna. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.ameinfo.com/103170.html and http://sbox.kompass.com/profil/I_en_N_IR009564 in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Mapna with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Mapna with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Mapna saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your original contributions are welcome.

Request for mediation edit

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Shatt al-Arab (Arvand Rud), and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible. -- tariqabjotu 14:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you're not aware already, you need to follow a few procedures (i.e. e-mailing Daniel about something) in order to get the ball rolling on the request for mediation, since it apparently will be occurring on a private wiki. See #Decision of the Mediation Committee for more information. -- tariqabjotu 21:09, 27 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sayed Shirazi edit

Help with the "Sayed Shirazi"-article is requested. I saw you editing a lot to it; perhaps, you care to improve it even further; help is needed here! I also saw you saying he died in 1999, and than removing it. Why? May I have your sources for that statement? -)-(-H- (|-|) -O-)-(- 15:48, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Now, we both know all the information on the artickle by Haggawaga - Oegawagga was false and he just made it up. But it seems you know about him, how otherwise would you have known he was killed in 1999. I got a question about him, is he called sayed because he is a decendent of mohammad or is it just his second name? The Honorable Kermanshahi 21:14, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

No he is not Sayyid (a decendent of mohammad ). His first name is Ali and his family name is Sayyad Shirazi. Checkout the farsi article. Therefor we can delete Sayed Shirazi completely. Arash the Archer 21:36, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

No we shouldn't delete Sayed Shirazi, some only know him by this name so if they type in Sayed Shirazi the do get to the right page. The Honorable Kermanshahi 09:24, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have a favour to ask of you edit

Once, You've uploaded an image Image:Arvandrud-Shatt al-Arab.jpg to English Wikipedia. I've moved it to Commons, because of a simple reason: there it's avaible for all projects, not only en.wiki.

Problem is that it's requested to send the permission text to permissions-commons at wikimedia dot org - it's nessesary for verification. Could You please do that? Ofcourse, in Your mail please inform which file is it about.

I cannot do trhat on my own because of a simple reason: I didn't uploaded it originally and I don't have the original copy of an e-mail with the permission.

If You need to contact me please use my Polish talk page.

Thank You for your understanding. With regards, Galileo01 19:21, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Googooshchildhood2.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Googooshchildhood2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:37, 4 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 19:37, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Googoosh_iran's_daughter.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Googoosh_iran's_daughter.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 19:38, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Rumi Sarcophagus.jpg edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Rumi Sarcophagus.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Rumi Sarcophagus.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[3][4]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Rumi Sarcophagus.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Gharib e Ashena.ogg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Gharib e Ashena.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:22, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Persian names edit

I wish to know the original Pesian names of the following Persian saints from the court of Shapur II martyred by Shapur II. In orthodox church we use only their Greek translations. Can you translate them back into Persian from English?

As is often the case in church hymns, there is a play on the meanings of these Persian saints' names here. Acindynus means "unimperilled"; Pegasius is derived from pegazo--"to gush forth"; Aphthonius is derived from aphthonos-"abundant"; Elpidephorus means "hope-bearing"; Anempodistus means "unhindered." These are all Greek translations of their Persian names.

It is important to me becase my two twin boys were born on their day (in Orthodox church we celebrate their memory Nov 15) and so they appear to be heavenly patrons of my children. You can read more about these Persian saints at: http://www.goarch.org/chapel/saints/270

Anti-Iranian article edits edit

I am concerned that the addition of The Wrestler is without citation. Do you have a citation that addresses anti-Iranian overtones in that film? We cannot use our own personal observations as to what constitutes anti-X behavior; we must find reliable, notable, verifiable folk who say that and cite them. If you cannot find a citation in the next day or so, I would need to remove it. Out of my respect for you, I came here to let you know that it needs to be fixed, instead of just removing it. Let me know if you have any questions.
It's n ice to be editing with you again, AtA. :) - Arcayne (cast a spell) 05:01, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Arcayne. A quick search shows that the The Wrestler is being accused for Anti-Iranian sentiment from Iranian government and media. I will try to find a RS or I will reword that part. (Arash the Archer (talk) 20:46, 9 February 2009 (UTC))Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
