Edits to Condom

edit

I noticed you have added an external link to the condom page, with the explanation that you had "Added opposing view point link". The article is quite upfront that condoms are not 100% effective even when used perfectly (and that many people do not use them perfectly), nowhere in the article is claimed that condoms are the "solution" to any of society's problems, and none of the current external links are to sites that argue "condoms will solve aids" - I'm confused as to what your link is supposed to be a counterpoint to.

I also removed your commentary on programs that promote condoms as a tool for reducing the spread of sexually transmitted infections from the "causes of failure" section. That section is addressing the failure of the condom itself as a sperm and/or disease barrier. Your discussion was talking about the failure of the programs, not of the condom itself. I believe this type of commentary works better in the section "role in sex education", which is devoted to discussing programs in which condoms feature prominently. I would be happy to discuss how to address your concerns with the condom article either on my talk page, or at Talk:Condom. LyrlTalk C 22:08, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Condom. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors.

Just as a comment to your recent edits, consider that "The rate of HIV transmission with sexual intercourse is much lower than with other sexually transmitted diseases-approximately 0.3% per sexual contact with an HIV-infected person." (from here). If an HIV-discordant couple had condom-free intercourse every day of the woman's menstrual cycle, the risk of the HIV-negative partner contracting the disease would be about 10%. By contrast, the average couple having random condom-free intercourse 2-3 times per week has a 20-25% chance of pregnancy per menstrual cycle - correctly timed intercourse may increase this figure to 60-80% (see Fertility awareness#Achieving pregnancy). It is simply false to argue that the risk of HIV transmission from condom failure (or failure to use condoms) is higher than the risk of pregnancy. LyrlTalk C 22:18, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blogs

edit

Please note: the Wikipedia guidelines on external links don't approve of links to blogs by non-recognized authorities. (Moreover, if that is your own blog, there is double the reason to omit it as a conflict of interest.) Thus, I have deleted the blog links that you added. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Flex (talk/contribs) 21:11, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Iron Dragon.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Iron Dragon.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Iron Dragon.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. That that is is that that is not is not is that it it is

A tag has been placed on That that is is that that is not is not is that it it is, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mvjs (talk) 06:12, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
