Synaptotagmin

edit

Hello Antonmaximov & welcome to Wikipedia. I wanted to have a chat with you about your edits to Synaptotagmin. Whilst we welcome your contributions you need to be careful when making substantial changes to pages. I note in your edit summary that you thought that the 'article was totally wrong' and that you 'posted the new article containing correct information' [1]. Whilst Wikipedia of course wants editors to make sure that everything si as accurate as it could be, the problem with you r edits was that you deleted the entirety of a properly sourced and verified article and replaced it with one with no inline sources at all thus leaving no option to other editors but to restore the sourced version. The recommended way to go about making such a drastic change would be to have discussed it on the article's talk page and to try and reach a consensus with other editors before making the changes. If you need any help then please either reply to this message or drop me a line on my talk page. Kind regards & good luck with your future editing, nancy 10:15, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. Thanks for your reply [2] however I think you may have slightly misunderstood the point I was trying to make. It may well be that your replacement is factually correct but Wikipedia can only consider this proven if reliable sources are cited within it. I also note your comment about the text that you posted being from a review that you wrote and I would therefore encourage you also to read the policy on original research; your review may well not contravene it but it would be better if you were aware of the boundaries in any case. As I said in my first message, as you are proposing the complete deletion of the existing article and replacing it with an entirely new one the preferred course of action would be to open a dialogue on the article's talk page first.
