Abelmoschus Esculentus' User Scripts

Dear all. Recently, our community lost a dedicated user, Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk). Among their projects were a number of user scripts that they left behind. I (DannyS712) have copied the scripts, and have taken over maintaining them. You currently import one or more of Abelmoschus Esculentus' scripts, and I thought that you might want to import a maintained version. Links to each script are provided below.

If you have any questions, please reach out and talk to me. --DannyS712 (talk) 00:30, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Karcher Nationalist Convention Wikipedia Page

You said "Wikipedia is not for things made up one day" but if you knew ANYTHING about the current political climate of Nampa Idaho you would not be saying this was made in one day. The moment is popular among many people and I found there was a lack of serious information provided. The KNC it has gained serious traction in the local political climate of Nampa Idaho and Boise Idaho. So I respectfully ask you to change your decision are you even involved in Nampa's local politics or even live in Nampa this is actually a serious political movement with 153 members and growing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Camdinner500 (talkcontribs) 05:38, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Camdinner500, It does not appear that any reliable sources have reported on the "Karcher Nationalist Convention". Under the Wikipedia verifiability policy, information that has not been reported by reliable sources does not belong on Wikipedia. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 15:22, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

A message from David Fort89

Dear AntiCompositeNumber,

I don't want to sound like a pill but I you flagged my webpage and due to my position I don't know what to do.

I am one of Jack-David Carson's teachers so I know his life very well from our conversations and I even sent what I wrote to him to make sure it was correct. Unfortunately, there is nothing particularly on the internet about him (he has not been part of any public interviews). What should I do because I know that he deserves a page? David Fort89 (talk) 04:02, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello David Fort89, apologies for the late reply. Wikipedia content depends on reporting by independent reliable sources for our content. If you would like to create an article about Carson, you will have to wait for multiple independent reliable sources to write about Carson. For more information, please see the verifiability policy, the general notability guideline, and the notability guideline for biographies. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Reply on Picture

Regarding image (ColoradoDesertImageOfCA.jpg) on Charles Robinson Rockwood (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Charles_Robinson_Rockwood) article that I submitted on 3.5.19 about a message from you on 3.6.19.

...sorry but I'm not sure exactly how to do what you requested. I think I corrected the issue.

I obtained the base satellite image from a NASA web site and added in the names and outline of the larger Salton Sea myself. So it's a government photo modified by me. I looked at another similarly licensed image and copied the appropriate 'code', modifying the copyright information as necessary. Hopefully that fixes it. If not, may I request you modify it to reflect my statement above that it is a NASA image from circa 1970 that I modified. Thank you.

Here are two links.

NASA.gov Web Site: https://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/station/crew-36/html/iss036e011034.html ...also found it on WikiCommons: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ISS-36_Salton_Trough.jpg

I made a mistake on the date. I have another similar NASA picture from the 1970s, but it looks like I picked the 2013 picture from the international space station as my base image. I thought I had used the early photo. Oh, well.

...no, thank you for making all the changes and additions to the image page. I should have included that from the beginning. Sorry. Terrawide (talk) 01:46, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Please participate to the talk pages consultation

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

  • Two more administrator accounts were compromised. Evidence has shown that these attacks, like previous incidents, were due to reusing a password that was used on another website that suffered a data breach. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately. All admins are strongly encouraged to enable two-factor authentication, please consider doing so. Please always practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.
  • As a reminder, according to WP:NOQUORUM, administrators looking to close or relist an AfD should evaluate a nomination that has received few or no comments as if it were a proposed deletion (PROD) prior to determining whether it should be relisted.

Administrators' newsletter – May 2019

News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2019).

  Guideline and policy news

  Technical news

  • XTools Admin Stats, a tool to list admins by administrative actions, has been revamped to support more types of log entries such as AbuseFilter changes. Two additional tools have been integrated into it as well: Steward Stats and Patroller Stats.

  Arbitration

  • In response to the continuing compromise of administrator accounts, the Arbitration Committee passed a motion amending the procedures for return of permissions (diff). In such cases, the committee will review all available information to determine whether the administrator followed "appropriate personal security practices" before restoring permissions; administrators found failing to have adequately done so will not be resysopped automatically. All current administrators have been notified of this change.
  • Following a formal ratification process, the arbitration policy has been amended (diff). Specifically, the two-thirds majority required to remove or suspend an arbitrator now excludes (1) the arbitrator facing suspension or removal, and (2) any inactive arbitrator who does not respond within 30 days to attempts to solicit their feedback on the resolution through all known methods of communication.

A message from Blue Riband

Hello, I'm Blue Riband. User:Dreamweaverjack has removed the Copyvio tag from the article MV Doulos Phos but didn't specify how the issue was resolved. The diffs don't show any other changes. I've left him a message to ask how he thinks the copyvio problem has been addressed. As of this writing it looks like the copyright clerks have not yet moved my re-write to the main space.Blue Riband► 23:39, 12 May 2019 (UTC) Blue Riband► 23:39, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

About my file move

Hello there. I apologise for my request. I never realised that the name was never in English. I just thought it was a bit vague. I just thought I'd apologise since I want to be mature and acknowledge my mistakes. This also wouldn't look good on my file mover application if I tried to get out of apologising. I assure you it is a one off. Thank you. The Duke 14:57, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

  Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC seeks to clarify whether WP:OUTING should include information on just the English Wikipedia or any Wikimedia project.
  • An RfC on WT:RfA concluded that Requests for adminship and bureaucratship are discussions seeking to build consensus.
  • An RfC proposal to make the templates for discussion (TfD) process more like the requested moves (RM) process, i.e. "as a clearinghouse of template discussions", was closed as successful.

  Technical news

  • The CSD feature of Twinkle now allows admins to notify page creators of deletion if the page had not been tagged. The default behavior matches that of tagging notifications, and replaces the ability to open the user talk page upon deletion. You can customize which criteria receive notifications in your Twinkle preferences: look for Notify page creator when deleting under these criteria.
  • Twinkle's d-batch (batch delete) feature now supports deleting subpages (and related redirects and talk pages) of each page. The pages will be listed first but use with caution! The und-batch (batch undelete) option can now also restore talk pages.

ACC tool access request approved

Thank you for your interest in the account creation process. I have verified that you have signed the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information and approved your request.

You may now access the interface here pending a tool root marking your account as identified in the tool database. Before you begin handling any requests, please ensure you have read and understood the account creation guide and username policy to familiarize yourself with the process.

Please subscribe yourself to the private ACC mailing list by clicking here and following the instructions on the page. I also highly recommend that you join us on IRC. We'll be able to grant you access to our private channel (#wikipedia-en-accounts connect), where a bot informs us when new account requests arrive, and where you can chat with the other members of the team and get real-time input, advice, and assistance with requests and how to handle certain cases that are giving you confusion or trouble.

IMPORTANT: Please note that repeatedly failing to correctly assess and process account requests and take the correct resulting actions will result in suspension of your access to the ACC tool interface. Processing account creation requests is not a race, and each request should be handled with your upmost diligence, care, and attention. Closing each account request correctly, accurately, and within full compliance of the ACC tool guide is your goal and your priority; never sacrifice accuracy and compliance of policy in exchange for quantity, or to close a high number of requests that are in the queue.

ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL: Releasing any kind of personally identifiable information or any kind of non-public data listed in the access to nonpublic personal data policy (such as the IP addresses or email addresses of account creation requests), whether intentionally or unintentionally, is treated as an extremely serious violation of policy and breach of confidential information, and will generally result in immediate suspension of your access to the ACC tool interface. Depending on the severity of the offense, the intent, and the level of misconduct that occurred, the violation and the breach of the confidential information will be reported to the Wikimedia Foundation, which can result in further sanctions and actions being taken against you (such as being blocked, banned, or having your access to nonpublic personal data status revoked). If you have questions about this, or aren't sure about anything in regards to this policy, please ask a tool administrator.

Your current user rights allow you to create up to six accounts in a 24 hour period. After this limit has been reached, you won't be able to create any more accounts. However, you can still process ACC tool requests without any issues; just place any approved requests back into the queue so that another tool user can perform the account creation step and finish the process for you. You also won't be able to create an account with a similar username to that of another account that exists; these requests are listed in a separate queue on the interface, titled "flagged user needed". However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Account creator after you've demonstrated a few months of experience and proficiency with processing and handling new account requests.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions, and I'll be happy to answer them. Thank you for participating in the account creation process, and we're glad to have you as part of the group! Welcome to the ACC tool user team! stwalkerster (talk) 23:00, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

  • Following a research project on masking IP addresses, the Foundation is starting a new project to improve the privacy of IP editors. The result of this project may significantly change administrative and counter-vandalism workflows. The project is in the very early stages of discussions and there is no concrete plan yet. Admins and the broader community are encouraged to leave feedback on the talk page.
  • The new page reviewer right is bundled with the admin tool set. Many admins regularly help out at Special:NewPagesFeed, but they may not be aware of improvements, changes, and new tools for the Curation system. Stay up to date by subscribing here to the NPP newsletter that appears every two months, and/or putting the reviewers' talk page on your watchlist.

Since the introduction of temporary user rights, it is becoming more usual to accord the New Page Reviewer right on a probationary period of 3 to 6 months in the first instance. This avoids rights removal for inactivity at a later stage and enables a review of their work before according the right on a permanent basis.

Hello

Hello! I have been working on my Draft: Milen Manoj Earath which you had looked into earlier via the IRC. It was declined about 5 weeks back by Cameron due to a promotional tone. I had worked on the tone and asked editors both in IRC and in their talk pages if it had improved, they had given me positive answers. I had submitted it for re-review about 4 weeks back. But, Cameron had just emailed me that he will be out of town for the next 2 weeks and it would be better if I ask someone else to re-review. If time permits, would you mind taking a look and if possible re-review the draft? Thanking you, Yours Sincerely, Refluxdonut (talk) 11:42, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

I have read the above message. I will reply when I have a moment. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 18:40, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, Refluxdonut (talk) 18:45, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi there! I know you have been busy, so I didn't want to pester you, but I wanted to put in a gentle reminder 😊 Thank you, Refluxdonut (talk) 14:47, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

@Refluxdonut: Thank you for your patience. Drafts in the WP:Articles for Creation process are reviewed in a random order, so I won't be accepting or declining your draft out of respect to the others waiting for a review. I will, however, give my opinion on what other reviewers likely will decide when they look at the draft.

First off, I notice that you've had problems with the copyright status of images. Until you are familiar with the copyright rules here and on Wikimedia Commons (a sister project to Wikipedia that holds freely-licensed images), please do not upload any images that you have not taken yourself. I would suggest that you not worry about images in the article at all until it has been accepted, since images are not considered in draft reviews.

Now on to notability. According to the notability criteria for musicians and ensembles, musicians are likely to be notable if they have received significant coverage in reliable sources, have had their music on a national music chart, were nominated for a major music award or major music competition, has had their music played regularly, or otherwise have meaningfully impacted musical history. Additionally, people who have received a well-known and significant award or honor are likely to be notable. I'm not sure if the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement would be considered well-known or significant, so I won't be considering it. That leaves us with significant coverage in reliable sources. Having looked through the sources, source 3 appears to be the best. Sources 2, 4, and 5 provide less information, and the information provided by sources 4 and 5 is very similar. The other sources, while useful for citing specific information in the article, do not contribute to notability. Earath appears to be in the gray area between "clearly not notable" and "clearly notable" right now. Assuming that Earath continues to grow in his career, I believe that he will become clearly notable, but it is difficult to tell right now. I think I would lean toward accepting the article, but I would not be surprised if it went to a deletion discussion soon after.

You've done a lot of great work with this article, and it's come a long way from when it was first reviewed. I encourage you to work on improving other Wikipedia articles while you wait for your draft to be reviewed. If you have any questions, let me know and I'd be happy to answer them. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 21:40, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Raoul Bhatt

Hello, I while a go I got declined for the submission of Wikipedia article “Raoul Bhatt”, I’ve revised the post, hoping you can take a look? Thanks! Tonystargazer (talk) 06:15, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

IMDB titles, were added through 3rd party involvement of productions by Raoul Bhatt, it’s all I could find as most coverage is social media from 3rd party, verified instagram accounts. Is this article valid if these social media links are removed? Do you have recommendations on how to make this a valid article?

Also, I reached out to the people that have the social media links of Raoul Bhatt, and asked if they are posting on their main websites. Some say “we're going to update the wesbite with all the profiles we got over the summer and new tools”

So it’s delay from them, but their social links must be valid because it’s directly from them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonystargazer (talkcontribs) 01:36, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, just to follow up, maybe this doesn’t fall into the notable tag, but it would fall under expert in his field, right? Thanks in advance for your help. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability Tonystargazer (talk) 02:36, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Tonystargazer, there is only one thing that matters: reliable secondary sources. I do not know why you would think that social media links would be relevant or helpful at all. Drmies (talk) 14:54, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

I understand what you’re referencing but they are from world wide and recognized accounts. Most companies now don’t even post content on their own master sites, but focus on micro blogging on social media.
