Bolding and dating

Wikipedia guidelines are that ONLY the subject of the article appears bolding, as the first use, in the Lead's first paragraph. Please do not bold other content. Also, dates of months should NOT have th or rd superscripted. For example 20 May 2020 is accepted, 20^th May 2020 is not. David notMD (talk) 11:34, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Scam details

I happened to see your userpage and saw your report there about being targeted by paid editing scammers. I have yet to come across this in the Wikipedia wilds, but am very keen to help in any way I can with stamping this out. I really don't know enough about how this unfolds to know whether any of them have an on-Wikipedia presence, but if they do, I would love to learn how to find any such users (so that I can start tracking them/block them, etc.). So, I was just wondering if you could describe how you were contacted; what they offered; any other relevant details of what's involved. Thanks--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:00, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Sure. They somehow found out my Email Address and sent me a mail. They said they will do all the editing and give me all the fame (or something like that) by making an account with the same username as mine. They also said that this can be done by some amount of money every month. I don't quite remember the price, since this happened over 2 weeks ago. I was suspicious about this at first, then when I was about to apply for their "offer" 1 week from now. So, they teased me to apply for this for a whole week! Then, after this, few days from now I had got the details about this scam. So, I did 2 things. 1) Block the person who was sending the mails and 2) removed my mail ID from my account. Thanks very much for this description! Unfortunately, they (I suppose cannily) didn't do anything to identify themselves. (If ever get such an email I will string them along, asking for examples of articles they have created:-) I suppose I ought to create a new account just to do this, as it would make sense that they only target new accounts, and avoid old accounts like mine (and administrators) like the plague.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:02, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
