 Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Grayfell (talk) 22:03, 25 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

November 2023 edit

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia, and articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Pig War (1859). Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, please use your sandbox instead, where you are given a certain degree of freedom in what you write. There is so much to unpack with your Don’t be boring it’s for the memes edit summary. First of all, you made a disruptive edit against the general consensus by edit & not within agreement with the discussions at Talk:Pig War (1859). Second, this is an encyclopedia, not a social network, so any effort to insert eye-catching, humorous memes is inappropriate. Thirdly, your Before the Pig section heading violated the Manual of Style guideline for section headings: Section headings should generally follow the guidance for article titles (above), and should be presented in sentence case (Funding of UNESCO projects in developing countries), not title case (Funding of UNESCO Projects in Developing Countries). You write Don’t be boring; I respond with Don't be a boor. Peaceray (talk) 18:30, 26 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your reverted my edit with the edit summary Do not call my edits a “joke edit”. It’s a very minor change and can bring no bad, only make some people laugh. By that statement itself, it is obvious that you are not serious & are trying to inject some humor. Please stop this behavior. It is not welcome & continuing it will merely get you blocked. Peaceray (talk) 22:36, 26 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Breakfast cereal. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Please see MOS:NOSECTIONLINKS & MOS:OVERLINK. Peaceray (talk) 18:42, 26 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Pig War (1859), you may be blocked from editing. Joyous! Noise! 20:53, 26 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
