Ways to improve Briohny Doyle edit

Hi, I'm JamesG5. Anniethel, thanks for creating Briohny Doyle!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Page needs a short, clear lead. Reorganization in to proper sections for life & career needed. Needs categories. Needs additional sources, several (such as LinkedIn) are not acceptable WP:RS.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. JamesG5 (talk) 05:50, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Briohny Doyle edit

Hello, thanks for writing this! I'm not sure that this person yet meets notability for an author (although they may this autumn when their book comes out, I imagine). What I'm not seeing is significant review coverage, media profiles and interviews - most of the sources you cite seem to mention her in passing rather than profile her work, and she doesn't seem to be notable for her academic/teaching career. (Those are all links to guides.)

Is there anything else you can add? Let me know if you have any thoughts. Blythwood (talk) 05:53, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Briohny Doyle edit

The article Briohny Doyle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of satisfying Wikipedia's notability guidelines. No sources except a publisher's promotional announcement. Two as yet unpublished books, published essays etc. Also, the article is distinctly promotional in tone.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Possible conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Anniethel. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 11:43, 5 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've been struggling to figure out how to communicate with mods, hopefully this is the right place to chat to you?

I don't have a conflict of interest. I don't know Briohny or work with her and I don't stand to benefit in any way from the publication of her forthcoming books. I'm peripherally involved in Melbourne writing communities, which is how I'm familiar with her work. She's just a writer I admire. I didn't write anything evaluative about her in the article, so I dispute the imputation this is promotional in tone.

Wikipedia hosts a lot of pages on minor figures, many with less info than this, so I figured my subject would be okay. The page will obviously be added to in the near future as her books are received. Anniethel (talk) 00:21, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
