Anchors for characters

I have noted that you have been adding a lot of anchors lately. Please consider when and what anchor templates (such as {{Visible anchor}}) to use. – Allen4names 06:03, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Is there a particular page that should use a different method besides anchors? I've done subcategories for character lists before then, mainly to link actors and characters. AngusWOOF (talk) 06:27, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

No, but you should use {{Visible anchor}} outside of headers (which provide anchors automaticly) instead of {{Anchor}} unless you have a reason not to anchor visible text. – Allen4names 06:33, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Prototype Logo

I want to tell you something. A new prototype Wiggles logo was first seen in Wiggledance! (Live in Concert) released in early 1997, but the Wiggles were in plain colored shirts shown on the footage. And they didn't have this new prototype on their shirts until their Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas video footage was released on early September except the black outlines were removed. Heart to Heart EP/Single confusion?

Actually, an EP and a mini-album are the same thing, since an EP is an Extended Play and not a full length album....but yes, it's a single, since it's been edited on the 4Minute page, I decided to check it on music.daum.net and it's entitled as a single, not an EP. However so, when I started editing, I wasn't aware that a separate article for the song already existed. I think putting the single article into the song article would be great, I just didn't know how to do it really. I guess I can do the part where I just copy everything form article to the other, I'm not sure how to kind of remove the other article though. Fairy Tail FLCs?

FLC or GA? I'm not sure what it takes to nominate to FL. The list of volumes doesn't sound like it could progress any further than a list. I'm trying to figure out how to list those guild characters better, should we use bold for names? more bullet listings? AngusWOOF (talk) 00:01, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

As for the list of manga volumes, we should format it to make it appropriate for a featured list. For example, see List of Naruto manga volumes as reference. We should not use bold for names in the character article, and remove less important characters from the article. If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Ah, I get it. Lists -> FL and Characters -> GA goal. Any words from the assessors and wikiproject leaders on how to improve the article? I would like to see more development on character creation, but I think we did well with backgrounding major characters and incorporating all the Afterword/Translation Notes. ANN encyclopedia

List of The Facts of Life episodes

Hi. I spotted your note on Talk:List of The Facts of Life episodes about many of the episode summaries having been "copied word for word" from Sitcoms Online and decided to investigate whether there is a copyright issue. Comparing the version of the page before you started your copy edit with the Episode Guide on the Sitcoms Online page, Duplication Detector did not find any phrases of 5 or more words common to both pages. Was I looking in the wrong place? If there's a genuine copyvio there, we should at least report it. --Stfg (talk) 20:37, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

My difficulty was that clicking the "Episode Guide" link in the Sitcoms Online sidebar caused it to load into a frame, and the URL display wasn't changed. Well done finding the underlying page. Gangnam Style

This is regarding the MTV Awards reference at the introduction of the article, I think its okay to include any nominations and awards at the introduction as long as its a huge and important one. MTV Awards (even if just nominations) are usually included near the end of the article's introduction (see Touch My Body and Bad Romance) - A1Candidate

What I mean is, a towel is a piece of absorbent fabric or paper used for drying or wiping. It draws moisture through direct contact, often using a blotting or a rubbing motion. That clip is from TV series 1 opening credits. Why don't you ask the person who uploaded all those chase scenes to Youtube? CPDRC Dancers

Thanks for your comments and for pitching in with this page so dear to my heart you cannot believe. These prisoners are an inspiration to me personally and just watching them makes me a firm believer of humanity in everyone of us... They are just adorable... And of course you are absolutely right! CPDRC main should be about the prison itself and the music activities should be moved to CPDRC Dancers which I am effecting with immediate effect Please refer to Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center now a page for the prison and CPDRC dancers dedicated to the dance online phenomenon. In recognition for your wonderful work on the CPDRC page, I dedicate to you the recent 2012 hit by Khaled (musician) who captured the importance of singing and dancing in everybody's life, including these wonderful souls in the Cebu prison. Called "C'est la vie", it says in French "On va s'aimer / On va danser / C'est la vie" meaning "We shall love/ We shall dance / This is life"... Of course it is not true... but yet it is true in so many ways as CPDRC has proven. Here is the video just for your pleasure and a token of my thanks. After further checking, I found that the most used name and that is what they call themselves in their videos is CPDRC Dancing Inmates or The Dancing Inmates... So I moved the page into CPDRC Dancing Inmates and amended the links. I also added a web series to the "In popular culture" done by a Filipino Canadian this year. As a matter of interest, is Garcia still a warden or has been replaced? the last I heard was that he was involved with a group of ex-convicts now outside Cebu prison and was arranging public performances for them. Byron Garcia has not posted any videos from CPDRC since the Travis Payne one in 2010. He might be touring the different prisons and installing programs there though. You can change the title if it's not accurate. No worries. I'm just trying to make sure the statements are what was supported by the sources. It's likely the facility is classified as a megachurch. I also agree that he is reaching out to more than just two languages, and hope that is stated properly in the article. Thanks for the heads up on the citations format! The article's been rejected on notability grounds; but I have added citations from more internationally renowned magazines (such as TIME and SPIN) which have mentioned 2YOON.

In addition, I figured that news.nate.com simply re posts news articles; I've changed the various bibliographies to reflect the original authors and publishers.

Skit

I think the Wiggles' first concert videotape called "Wiggledance!" had skits such as the preceding one of "Vini, Vini". What's a preceding skit? Dcelano 22:00, (UTC)

Your thoughts

I'd like to ask you about how hentai is shaping up. It was this and now it is now this. As you can probably see, I've not fixed or addressed numerous other issues further down the page, but the content matter is not so bad as it was in the first sections. I was wondering if you feel that the etymology and term origins are defined adequately. I keep finding things to tweak and fix, but the majority of content on these sections are filled out now. I tweaked the definition section and removed "famously" (WP:PEACOCK). The Cheech Marin section could use some clarification; I'm not sure who said what. Did Marin coin that term, and was he referring specifically to that anime title? Also feel free to be specific on reference "John of animenation.net speculates that ....." and "a sex book" I'm not sure how to handle quotes vs. italics when visiting the terminologies. I think the first time a term is used it can be in quote marks or italics and then de-quoted after that. However, in the tsundere article they use italics throughout. Sorry, I didn't intend for a GA style review, but it is intriguing. The speculation point for the origin would be the Ask John case, but I haven't defined it yet. There are other sources to, but I do see the ambigious and NPOV concerns. I suppose doujins really need to be explained as well... they seem out of place in the term section, but I fully intend to discuss them further in. Forming a dilemma of sorts. Though you are wrong about the 'The Anime Movie Guide, does NOT have a definition for hentai, but it has a definition of Ecchi: "Ecchi: The Japanese pronuciation of the initial sound of hentai, or pervert, ecchi is a term used to describe lust-crazed teenage boys, panty fans or otherwise 'pervy' types. It's milder than hentai -- more disparaging then condemnatory in most circumstances." So while it does not define hentai as a term, but it introduces the word to English readers. So far this is the earliest and (just so happens to be) most popular source in English publication.

The Marin quote in full is a definition, and not his own:

'Japornimation': Take, for instance, a repellent piece of NC-17 "Japornimation" titled "Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Over-fiend." This nonstop murder-and-rape fantasy belongs to a subgenre of anime known, for reasons too disgusting to describe, as "naughty tentacles." Disdained in Japan, they're hot sellers here. At Anime Crash, a Manhattan video/clothing/toy emporium that opened in March, letter carrier Frank Koch, 36, spends $300 a month on these hard-core cartoons: "You can only take so much of Disney's cute, fuzzy animals," he explains. "This is about death, sex, love and war." The NOT FOR KIDS warning labels are guaranteed to make kids even more curious.

In all fairness, I am seriously considering removing it because while Marin does know what he is talking about, the term 'Japornimation' is a definite neologism which faded with the adoption of hentai. I have not yet found a source defining the evolution of the terminology, but the publication date was August 14, 1995, a full two years before the first mentions of hentai. But, and I can't believe I lost the source, probably an Ask John, a 1990 underground ALT.NET (forget the site) is probably the best thing to research and pull data from as it connected Americans directly to underground works prior to licensing. I'm certain the term hentai would have migrated as Urotsukidoji in Japan can quite be easily defined as hentai for its abnormal and perverse depictions of sex. I just can't read Japanese sources to PROVE it at this point. I do not want to get lost in hunting the origin of the term, but I do want to be as accurate as possible and the line obviously blurs somewhere.

As for the sex book one, I don't particularly like how the source it utilized, mainly because it feels tagged on, but it is the earliest usage of the term 'genre' to define hentai that I could find. Here's the google ebook snippet. [2]

As for NPOV, I've done my best to avoid having to many issues come up with the side-topic of gravure idols. I do not know if the 2-D complex is really worth mentioning as it is related more to lolicon. Though the actual popularity and this redefining has some really unusual topics which would require numerous articles to cover, most notably the concept of 'shoujo' as not a real woman, but as a third gender and abstract unrealistic perfection that simply cannot exist in physical form. This 2-d complex is well documented, but the weirdness factor goes off the charts. I really need someone who can read Japanese, or at least until I can read it myself. Which will be quite some time, as I just started self-study about three days ago.

I do like how you have used the term and its simple definition for eroge and I think it would be a great idea to use it for doujinshi. These complex terms are approachable to me, but most readers would have no understanding of it. I'll put some more work into it. I am tinkering with the idea of making a working table or list of the major sub-genres of hentai, but that means bringing up far more perverse, unusual and frankly sickening topics. I agree with you about just briefly introducing the side-terms (gravure idol, tentacle, lolicon) in the history sections and letting their individual articles take care of the detailed and critical analysis. Does Oxford Dictionary discuss the history or date of origin? That can be added to help explain its adoption into English. The ALT.NET (I'm guessing that was the Usenet forums that were popular around 1990, pre-world wide web? might be later though) is okay to prove existence of the underground works. I am thinking of creating a few articles to split off of hentai. At least one of them being major sub-genres of hentai and a list of subgenres. As the term hentai is really an english creation, the media in which the defined genre exists is well... broader and more diverse then other forms of pornography alone. I made the eroge section and filled it up to Kanon, which is probably the most iconic of eroge. The more I look at the manga section the more lackluster it seems to be, but sources on that material type is much harder to find, the lolicon matter is just easy because it is controversial as can be. Though I really need to start moving some images in, relevant covers and stuff. Not to be crude, but do we really need an actual hentai image in the hentai article? Perhaps, but I guess its a matter of taste with the image for me... it doesn't even define the term in a meaningful way, let alone encyclopedic other then 'hey look at this!' Seeing that picture show up first on a mobile phone before even the first words of the article was like 'oh great'... so the principle of least astonishment has me taking it out again. I added three early mentions of hentai on the boards. First mention 1990, first discussion of the terms meaning 1991 and usage in the Glossary for the board in 1995. The Wiggles article - re removal of photo dates

Just curious as to why you removed the date from the photo in the infobox? The edit summary notes that it has been removed, but not why. Your points are well-taken. I'd never heard of "overlink", and the use of the most definitive terminology, such as minimizing pronoun use when there is any possibility for misunderstanding as to the thing or individual to which the pronoun refers, is a standard technical-writing technique. That said, I suppose it can be deemed to be overuse where the potential for such ambiguity is not fully appreciated, or simply need not be considered.

The use of the word "obviously", in this context, does suggest the undertaking of editorial content arising in interpretation, but then again, a conclusory statement that such "is not needed" is, too. To this I can only say that (among other things) because of South Korea's proximity in so many ways to North Korea, I believe K-pop in general, and Psy in particular, may be seeking to make political statements, although certainly to the extent they are intended, they are couched in pop-culture whimsy. There is of course, no proof--especially to non-Koreans unfamiliar with South Korean politico-cultural and socio-cultural concerns (which I am). It certainly is possible that they are not Psy's shopping bags his entourage are seen to be carrying. It is, of course, entirely possible that Psy magnanimously purchased the items contained in the bags for his entourage, and that this is the artistic intention--he is later seen obviously about to eat, or in the process of eating, breakfast with his entourage, while the woman writhes in the background. At any rate, I agree all that need be said are words to the effect that "Psy's entourage are shown carrying shopping bags".

For a very long time as to Wikipedia, in response to something such as this, I would simply receive a message that would state, in essence, "You're blocked for being an asshole", instead of a considered, explanatory, response to concerns such has this, as to good-faith contributions, time and again, (perhaps) maliciously, unfairly and inaccurately referred to as "vandalism", which these are not. The New 52 Indigo Tribe

I removed three of the clarification tags that I felt were not warranted. However, I agree that the phrase "Indigo-induced Sinestro" is unclear. I furthermore felt I had to add my own commented-out note asking which planet the passage is referring to, since the phrase "which span over half of the planet they are currently on" is not very clear. Some exposition needs to be given as to what planet that is.

What I would suggest is that you look through the article's edit history, find out who originally added that information, and ask them to clarify the requested portions. If you don't get a response from that editor, then you may consider getting a copy of the issue issue in question (which is Green Lantern v5, 8 [April 2012]) in order to fix it yourself. It's probably only a few dollars, and while I don't go out and buy books just to fix Wikipedia articles often, I'll do it once in a while. Sorry if that's not as helpful as you were hoping.

One other thing: Be careful when you change the name tag on a ref name citation, as you did here. You didn't change the name tag with the subsequent two citations of that source, and this resulted in a citation error. I fixed it though, so no biggie. :-) Nightscream (talk) 00:55, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

There's the issue of WP:COPYLINK where the fan translation or website may be a copyright violation. If the company has approved the unofficial translations of its work in multiple languages (example: Cyanide & Happiness), then cite that article. The other concern is notability. Whether or not it's a copyright violation is irrelevant. Pretty much EVERY Japanese exclusive game article on Wikipedia has a mention of a fan translation if one exists. Some examples include Policenauts, Mother 3, etc. There's also even actual links to translations themselves.

Secondly, it's already mentioned that the main Steins;Gate game has a fan translation. If that's mentioned, shouldn't the 8-bit one be mentioned regardless of popularity?

If you notice on the Policenauts and Mother 3 articles, there is extensive coverage of the fan translations from multiple computer game media sources that attempt to demonstrate that the version is notable in that industry. Mother 3 involved Clyde Mandelin, who translates officially for many of Funimation's anime works. Hi, many thanks for putting so much effort into the Miyazawa article. You mentioned, that you are about to remove nicknames from the infobox, which i think is a good idea for streamlining. Do you think then nicknames should be mentioned in the article? Many members' nicknames are widely known within japanese audience and also used by japanese media. The nicknames can be listed in the body of the article, like with Miyazawa's reception section. No, they did not format Wiggle Time or Yummy Yummy for the TV series. There is no Captain Feathersword segment, or puppet Henry the Octopus or kindergarten/Kaz the Cat in those two videos. Nevermind, this is going in circles again. They did not re-sequence the videos for the TV series. They produced songs and skits that could easily fit into any of their TV series episodes or standalone trailers they were making. That's rather normal activity. If you're concerned about what they filmed the 1993 and 1994 videos on, go research it. I refer to this edit of yours. Please be informed that it is not a requirement that the dmy date format is used only for British articles. In fact, it is the most widely used format by English-speakers except for North Americans. In the case of this article, our convention is to continue using the date format adopted by the "first major contributor" to the article. capu2 is the strangest phrase I have ever heard in English in my life and deserves an explanation as to why "season 2" is not just called "season 2". How else should it be explained? Cimarron Strip

Any reason the music credit has been removed from the episode list. The series was unique in being one of the first feature length TV westerns and having individually scored episodes hence the number of composers. I am sure they could/should be included. Hi, I commented out the music composer per episode because there was nothing in the article's main section or the development section that indicated it was a music-based series where that credit needs to be noted on the same level as the episode director and story. If it's one of the first of its kind to rotate music duties for episodes, that can be added to the development/production. It can be retained as long as the references are there so it doesn't seem out of place. It'll be good to cite the original references, but it's difficult to find out exactly what sources the article is referring to. The allkpop site says that articles are 'translated' from Korean articles, but the original articles sourced are too unclear to search for the original ones. I've asked about allkpop on WP:RSN, but I received exactly zero replies and the issue was archived. I've mostly supported the facts with Korean sources. Should I change all the allkpop/other-kpop-blog references to Korean news articles?

Ender's Game (film)

I haven't watched the film, but I have read the novel. It says on the film's page that Rackam sacrifices himself to destroy the queen's ship, but he obviously doesn't die, because he comes back to train Ender. Hi, the movie has the stock video footage of Mazer blowing up the queen ship as the first scene (one of those film director choices), and then explains later when Ender meets Mazer, that he survived the attack by bailing out at the last second, but with the queen ship knocked out the rest of the ships just fall from the sky. Fair use of first line lyrics

Hi, re this removal of lyrics. As I understand it the purpose of giving the first line of a song - as shown by first line indexes in reference books - is partly to help identification of a song, both where title and lyrics depart. The words are a significant part of most songs, and to remove content related to the words - particularly when we can't give mp3 examples for most songs due to much tighter copyright on recordings than words - doesn't improve articles. As I understand it the first line of songs may be included as I've had this discussion with other editors before, and WP:LYRICS is open on the subject. Cheers. Thank you for the timely response. According to the article you linked it may not be necessary to add her. I felt it relevant as she was an instructor of the students, and she is listed above Admiral Chjamrajnager in the credits. Also, Corvoe's comment on his revert should be edited or deleted. Unfortunately I don't have the DVD at the moment so I can't check the listing, but I would check that, and order the rest of the cast (besides the top 6 because there Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield get flip flopped depending on the poster or the credit listings) appropriately. I have seen unofficial cast lists where she is listed as Professor IMDB and ones where she isn't: endersansible.com and Entertainment Weekly, the last of which is an acceptable source that groups her as not as important as the other 16. Nisekoi episodes

Hey I was wondering about whether or not we should leave the List of Nisekoi episodes as its own article of merge it back to the parent article. I think if the summary sizes remain the length they are now and are consistent until the final episode, it should be okay in the main. But I'll leave that for you to decide so as not to hinder the good progress you've made on the main. After some thought, it can stay separate too. I would be more inclined to merge it if it were just 12-13. Anyway, the Plot section can be beefed up with more highlights from the manga series, generally 1-2 sentences per volume. I agree the character list should stay. There's an edit warring board; you can go there if desired. I would suggest adding sources like I did with the Toon Disney announcements. OK, I made more comments regarding the programming. The premiere dates should be commented out from the listings until properly verified. Proving existence of programming on the network should be easily referenced with the television guide archives already mentioned, so please populate them from the webarchive or by programming announcements made by sources like AWN or Business Wire. Yeah, sorry. I was focused on making the Toon Disney list useful; it's actually quite informative now by tracking what they have launched each season! I've also raised an issue on whether a "final programming" list is useful there. Thanks. I made a copy of the last version I worked on in my sandbox which still has the block lineups; I didn't think my re-org of those schedules was that bad. [6] I agree the Notes section should be simplified. I think the lineup histories should go away. The main Toonami article talks about adding "program X" replacing program Y fine and time schedule changes. It might be tough as a lot of the series depends on the light novels, but given that the character list is overly detailed, it should be easy to add Ref label style references like with Haganai and List of Rosario + Vampire characters. In case your watchlist blew up with my gnoming today, as you might have discerned, I went through a ton of anime articles and removed all the unnecessary boldface. It's way easier to do this stuff with AWB. If you seen any more of these articles, send 'em my way and I'll be happy to zap them. I basically did a Wikipedia search for (not in quotes) 'Leading roles in bold'. It's possible I missed some. The good thing is that at WikiProject Anime & Manga, editor Calathan pointed me in the direction of a previous MOS discussion specifically about leading role bolding at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Archive 134#Bolding of major roles. Regarding Karneval (manga)

Hey can you double check the English air dates for the anime list? Being listed 5 days apart from the original Japanese air date has me in doubt as to whether or not they are the dates for English dubbed versions, which would be preferred. Thanks. —KirtZ^Message 09:36, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

WP:BURDEN

Thanks for the note! There is WP:BURDEN of course. If the source isn't added, and especially is not found by a search, undo it and tell the author to add a source. Unfortunately, removal seems to be the only way to get them to do so. I do this often, and do get flack about it. You can add a subst:welcome-t or a subst:welcome-anon-t to their talk page. Cafetran Espresso

Thanks for reviewing my nascent page on Cafetran Espresson. I am not quite certain to understand why this page causes so much problem. To be honest, I did not want to create it in the first place. However, an editor kept removing all mention of the software from the CAT software comparison, for lack of notability (while the said page list software with a lower user-base than Espresso). I will keep trying to include more external references and get the page accepted (BTW, I am not a developer of the software. Just a user, who was very grateful to find it, in a domain where there is an almost monopoly of tools under Windows, with a few under Mac, and almost nothing under Linux. Certainly not of the quality and versatility of Espresso). NB: while I appreciated your nice message on my talk page, I am actually not a new contributor. I edited WP way before you.
