Appearance counts edit

I was just wondering how this worked? I assume the main source is the BBC website but what about cast members who haven't been credited or oppositely credited despite not actually appearing? Is it all checked? — RachelRice (talk, contribs) — 21:51, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

@RachelRice: Yes I check it all. When the BBC releases credits, I add it to an Excel spreadsheet which automatically works out the number of appearances for each character, and I use formulas to generate the entire text of the section which I just copy and paste in one go. When I watch the episodes, I check my list of each episode, marking off characters as they appear, and adding in those that weren't credited, even if they weren't credited on screen (if they are not credited on screen I will note this). If I cannot see a character who was credited, I will then look closer for them, and if that fails, I ask others if they can see them, here. If I didn't do that, then Jack and Michelle wouldn't have as many appearances listed, or DS Kye would have none, or Keegan, or Glenda or Danny - as none of them were credited online. If you look at the 2016 list, you'll see notes all over the place saying that uncredited appearances have been included and hidden comments that credited appearances have been removed where a character was cut from an episode. PS probably best to use User talk:AnemoneProjectors/List of EastEnders episodes for all discussions relating to this. anemoneprojectors 12:51, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
However, note that I only do it when I watch the episodes so it might currently be 3 episodes behind, due to my hectic real life schedule at the moment and the fact that I'm catching up at weekends. anemoneprojectors 12:53, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Voice only appearances edit

Is it worth noting that Sharon and Linda did not appear in person but voice only on 14 March 2017? Also Harry Beckett (uncredited) 27 February 2017. Thanks Kelvin 101 (talk) 16:21, 17 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Kelvin 101: I was going to add notes for them being voice only but then as I didn't do the same for Heather in 2016 I didn't see the point. Harry Beckett had an uncredited voiceover? anemoneprojectors 20:01, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@AnemoneProjectors and Kelvin 101: I would agree with notes that Bright and Dean did not appear in person on 14 March, but made a voice only credit. Soaper1234 (talk) 17:19, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Soaper1234 and Kelvin 101: I don't see the point. We haven't done it for any other characters. A voice appearance is no different to any other. anemoneprojectors 17:22, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@AnemoneProjectors: I'd argue that a voice over appearance is different to an on-screen appearance because the character is not featured in the episode in person and is only heard. Depsite not referencing Heather's voice appearance, you have mentioned Peggy's? Soaper1234 (talk) 17:25, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Soaper1234: I've only mentioned Peggy's because it was uncredited, which is a different situation. It's only different in that you don't see the person's face - it's still acting and they still most likely go into the studio for it. There's an episode where we don't see Billy's face and he's credited... anemoneprojectors 17:33, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@AnemoneProjectors: My apologies, I didn't recognise that. Well, fair enough then. It just a different point of view and thought it might have been noting. Soaper1234 (talk) 17:38, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Soaper1234: That's ok. I've also reworded Peggy's note, because I realised I hadn't counted her uncredited voiceover but I should have done. Some characters have been voice only, like the tube driver when Tina, Shirley and Sylvie were trapped on the tube, or the school tannoy announcer also during Disaster Week. If they were included I don't think I'd note that they were voice only. If they credits were to say "voice of..." then I might reconsider as then EastEnders would be treating it differently. anemoneprojectors 17:41, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@AnemoneProjectors: I completely forgot about occurrences like that where there was guest cast in voice appearances. Glad we could come to a conclusion. Soaper1234 (talk) 17:43, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
I found Harry Beckett's voiceover, I did sort of remember it but I checked, he also appeared in the next episode. I'll mark it as an uncredited appearance, I'm going to note that it's voice because that sort of explains it being uncredited, it's similar to Peggy's uncredited voiceover and also when only Paul Coker's hand was seen and Jonny Labey wasn't credited for it. anemoneprojectors 18:23, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Kelvin 101 and Soaper1234: On 30 May 2017, Amy and Ricky can clearly be heard in Jack's house though they are not seen in the episode and are uncredited. Should I count that as a voice appearance? Also, do we know who Jack was on the phone to? As that was also an uncredited voice appearance. —anemoneprojectors— 07:27, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

I've done Amy and Ricky anyway. —anemoneprojectors— 08:24, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
