Who wrote this rubbish? It is incoherent nonsense:

The sea ice demolition is defined here as an intentional purpose, distinctive from the ice breaking operations to facilitate the trespassing of marine vessels over thick ice covered sea areas, with a specific purpose to induce a loss of sea ice cover. The sea ice demolition engineering operations are carried out by the “Primorsky regional office of Russian Federation Ministry of Emergency Situations (RF MES) in order to break ice and hasten its carry-over from the bay by streams in the shortest possible time.”[1]

where [1] is http://www.fesco.ru/en/press-center/news/2006-03-21-00406/, a perfectly harmless article about an icebreaker going about its normal business.

And Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) is using ice breakers suck as Krasin to break ice off to let it go to the warm part of ocean to destroy itself.[2]. where ref 2 is a picture of an incbreaker. Is this a deliberate joke? William M. Connolley (talk) 23:46, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi critic!

The ordinary ice-breaking operations are made for the trespassing of ships across ice-covered areas across oceans to facilitate trespassing of the sea by the ships, not for the sea ice cover to be removed on its entierety itself which is what the Primorsky regional office of Russian Federation has been commissioning for the Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) to carry out in order to hasten the sea ice loss from the Armurskya Bay. The sea ice demolition is carried out specifically with the purpose to collapse the ice so that the ocean becomes ice-free and this also has favourable micloclimatic benefits as the local temperatures go up.

We also do the reverse engineering to do the opposite, in frosty conditions when there are strong winds to take broaken ice out to the open sea, we can extend more rapidly the sea ice cover. The demolition is workable concept in the spring, whereas creation is for the autumn. Both of these induce earlier onset of marine surface and weather conditions.

You are using particularly rude language which I am not pleased of. Note that the budegted funds for purchase of new ice breaker this year by Atmosmare substantial, may well exceed the British Antartic Surveys normal annual operating budget. So who you are to nag like this? We may be in position to put the sea ice creation by ice chipping into operation by winter 2009-2010, this winter has advanced too far for it to start this season.

Your need to address your complaint to the Primorsky Regional Office if you have any issues. Do you need photocopies of the contracts and invoices on sea ice removal? The idea is specifically to demolish the sea ice cover by loosening "ice chipping" it to warm waters where it melts away.

“Primorsky regional office of Russian Federation Ministry of Emergency Situations (RF MES) in order to break ice and hasten its carry-over from the bay by streams in the shortest possible time.”

If you have any problem, please contact me: albert_kallio@hotmail.com or +44-7794-981238.

Before posting, I also did check out with Esko Pettay the details, I will re-check again out on the ice creation activities in case there are any change in ice breaker scheduling timetables.

Kind regards,

Albert Kallio

William - the text was obviously written by someone who's not a native English speaker. Why not try and help clean up the text? I think it's probably best to accept you're dealing with an expert here, who probably won't be that tolerant of being told he's an idiot in various ways.Andrewjlockley (talk) 22:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Some anon fouled up the link to the AFD page [1] probably attempting to change this pages name William M. Connolley (talk) 16:26, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Here's the reasoning on the article move I got by email from Albert Kallio: The correct title for Ice Sheet Demolition should be:

Sea Ice Manipulation by Ice Chipping (comprised of two activities:)

Sea Ice Demolition by Ice Chipping (to decrease ice cover in spring time by breaking it to drift warm water what FESCO has been doing for years in the Amurskaya Bay area and the reference of this was included, you still need the copies invoices and contracts for your folks?!?)

Sea Ice Creation by Ice Chipping (to increases ice cover in autumn/winter time by breaking it to drift freely in cold autumn weather and build the ice edge much faster and further like occurs naturally in Antarctica, which Atmosmare is doing from next autumn onwards)

I think it is nasty to criticise operational Russian schemes when hardly any of the others have left the table top. I was specificially using the original, existing term "ice-chipping" as this is the term the inventors of the procedure have given it in English at FESCO.Andrewjlockley (talk) 00:37, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Help me understand here. You so totally lack understanding of this subject that you didn't know that "ice sheet demolition" was completely wrong, and the text you pasted in was supposed to be about sea ice? William M. Connolley (talk) 12:44, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Why don't you just move it and quit the snidey remarks?Andrewjlockley (talk) 19:16, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I suppose I was forlornly hoping that you might actually admit ignorance, rather than merely demonstrating it, this being generally recognised as the first step on the path to knowledge. Alas William M. Connolley (talk) 21:55, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
The title was incorrect. That doesn't mean I can't tell the difference between land and ocean. If you want to improve the article, move it. If you just want to abuse me, please do it on my TP so you don't continue to waste everyone's time here.Andrewjlockley (talk) 02:06, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
