If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard

I have recently posted to the Draft section a proposed new article of a living person, Mary Lynne Gasaway Hill, and I am requesting review of the article

because I have a Conflict of interest (COI)- I am related to the subject of the article.

I will also put up a request for review of the article in the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard.

Thank you. Best wishes, Andrewincowtown (talk) 20:19, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I have declined your request edit because it does not outline what the concerns with the article are. It takes a lot of time and energy for someone to review an article; it is easier if you open a new request on the article's talk page that 1) outlines the problem areas, 2) suggests the exact wording you would like placed in the article, and 3) includes the sources that will be cited. If you have any questions please go to the WP:TEAHOUSE or the WP:HELPDESK. Z1720 (talk) 16:19, 18 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

COI on Draft:Mary Lynne Gasaway Hill edit

Thanks for mentioning your COI on the above article. I'll leave a note next on how to properly declare it on your user page, but basically at minimum you need a sentence saying "I have a COI with respect to Draft:Mary Lynne Gasaway Hill." --- Possibly 02:17, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

AH, I see you left a COI template on the article talk page. Thanks, that is enough for disclosure. I published the article since she meets WP:NPROF as a member of the Royal Society of Arts. Some details have been trimmed, since we try to avoid having too many sources that are written and published by someone's employer (there are/were many). Since you have COI, the appropriate thing is to leave a talk page edit request if you want to change something in the article. Thanks for your contributions. --- Possibly 02:28, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your time and attention to the article. I completely understand the edits, and will make sure to follow the COI guidelines.

Again, thanks! Andrewincowtown (talk) 23:01, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Andrewincowtown. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --- Possibly 02:17, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

As per your notice, I have edited my User page.

By way of explanation, I can only offer that when I set up the page years ago, I thought of it as a traditional "Bio" page, and have not thought about it much since.

However, I completely agree that it was not inline with Wikipedia guidelines. I hope it is now.

Best wishes, Andrewincowtown (talk) 17:10, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion edit

This page should not be speedily deleted because I will promptly address the issue.

Thank you for notifying me of the issue.

you can recreate your user page; it just needs to be about you as a Wikipedia editor, and not a sort of personal profile page. See WP:USERPAGES for more info. --- Possibly 22:14, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
