Feedback on declined page for David Jones (Havas)?

Hi Andrew,

I'm just checking in on your comment on my new page for David Jones (Global CEO, Havas): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/David_Jones_(Global_CEO,_Havas)

The page was declined as it was marked as a "non-notable person"; but I do think it deserves to be a page based on extensive media coverage and visibility of the subject. What are your guidelines for review?

I would love any advice you have as I'm something of a Wiki newbie--this is the first page I've tried to create! What should I do differently? I was trying (but I think failed) to write a "stub" post and would then go through and fill in more details, some more links to press coverage, etc. Should I attempt to post that longer version to prove the subject's "notability" now? Is it best to do that by just editing the content on the page that's been declined?

Also, the subject, David Jones, was already added to a list of other people with that name (the page that comes up if you search Wikipedia for "David Jones"). If the entry passes the test for notable subjects on that page, will it help my case for getting this page posted?

Thanks so much for your advice, it's really appreciated!

Thinkingignornace, thanks for contacting me. I'll take a look at the page and give you more detail here in a little bit. We're in the process of clearing a backlog (over 300 submissions, more than 10x our normal load), so I may have swept it up by accident. Can you give me a synopsis of what you believe makes him notable enough to be included in Wikipedia? Thanks! AndrewN talk 19:22, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Andrew, thanks so much for the very quick response! I'm going to lay out my case for the subject's importance/notability, but I know I'll be walking a fine line to still seem objective. In 2011 David Jones was named global CEO of Havas, one of the world's largest networks of marketing and communications agencies--here is third-party media "proof" from the WSJ, let me know if you need a non-paywalled link instead: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703410604576216761649266024.html
His peer CEOs in that category of businesses include Martin Sorrell and Maurice Lévy, who do have their own pages.
David Jones also founded/runs the One Young World summit, which brings in speakers like Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan, Bob Geldof, Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway, and Jamie Oliver --all very notable/recognizable names themselves, and altogether the summit's generated a lot of media coverage as well. Here's a video of CNBC interviewing him at the summit http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000043102.

Is this along the lines of what you were looking for? I can also submit the full-text version of the page I'd prepared, maybe that would be better?
Thanks again! Thinkinginorange (talk) 19:59, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll take a look at this and the article. If you wouldn't mind creating a userspace draft of the page, say at: User:Thinkinginorange/David Jones (Full), and letting me know when it's up, I'll be glad to take a look at it. I do have to ask: are you closely associated with the subject (David Jones), i.e. as a paid editor, publicist, family, friend, etc.? AndrewN talk 20:04, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Inveiss Group

Hi Andrew,

I'd like to know why is my subject not a notable company and therefore was not approved? If you can let me know what makes it not notable or what can I add more to it then I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Joannamdc (talk) 00:32, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

The article appears to be written like an advertisement for an law firm. I see no assertion as to why the company should be included in Wikipedia. If you can re-write so the article is written from a neutral point of view, and if you can show some assertion on why the company is notable, then the article could possibly be approved. My proposed new page on David Chaloner

I see that you have reviewed and declined my proposed new page on the English poet David Chaloner and I am invited to read the comments and amend the page. I'd be happy to improve the page. However, I cannot find any comments posted on the page. I am therefore not clear how to proceed. I suppose it means that I do not see how to navigate to your comments. I'm new to this and expert in poetry, not WP. 2bttrn (talk) 10:07, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Feedback on my page about Jack Tang - an Internet entrepreneur very much talked about in London

Dear Andrew,

Just like Thinkingignornace my page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Jack_Tang) about Jack Tang an Internet Entrepreneur Founder and CEO of thestudentjob.com which is the most talked about by major universities in London and by celebrities with the likes of Jim Eastwood (BBC Apprentice) as well as Amber Atherton from (Made in Chelsea) was marked as non-notable person. I strongly believe that it deserves to be a wikipedia page based on his regular appearance in talks about entrepreneurship at various universities, business start up talks as well as extensive media coverage in his arena which is the student union / market.

Jack's other business associates such as Rajeeb Dey from Enternship, Arjun_Rajyagor (BBC Junior Apprentice), Rich Martel from Floxx Media Group and many others have wikipedia pages as well. Please verify this from his linkedin network http://uk.linkedin.com/in/jtang92

Jack is a very much an up and coming internet entrepreneur who currently is widely known in London by all major universities and beyond.

Just to note that I am not a close associate of Jack nor a paid editor / copywriter - however, I am writing in the interest of providing information for other people who have met him and would like to research more about him and let other writers to collaborate information about his latest movements etc.

Kind regards,

Mark — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.20.58.34 (talk) 23:57, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

The company itself appears to be notable, but not necessarily the person. There are also a lot of external links, and there appear to be some issues with a neutral point of view. I'll be glad to look further soon. AndrewN talk 07:00, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your message and please do strongly consider it as thestudentjob.com is a notable website and company please google and also I will digg up more 'neutral point of view' articles if necessary however, the links are all written by external writers writing in a neutral P.O.V

Ecke Bonk

Dear Andrew N,

Re : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Ecke_Bonk Thank you for reviewing the article on Ecke Bonk. I do have two points to make, which perhaps you could kindly help me with when you have a moment ? 1. Articles on Ecke Bonk already exist on Wikipedia (in German) and Wikipedia (in French). Neither of these appears to meet the criteria which you imply in your comment. How might it be that an English language article requires stricter criteria ? 2. Ecke Bonk’s inclusion, twice, in the most prestigious art exhibition in the world (Documenta in Kassel, Germany, which is held every five years) would imply a certain importance on the part of his work, without further elaboration, as far as the international art world is concerned. How might it be that such a presence in the art world would fail to meet the criteria laid down by Wikipedia ? Best wishes, Instruosophy2 Instruosophy2 (talk) 21:00, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Cenotes_(album)

I was just curious as a casual observer why Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Cenotes_(album) was non-notable, after being mentioned and confirmed in three large international publications, and while the group's other albums have their own pages. Thanks! (Oh, by the way, the Click Here link at the top of your talk page to add a post goes to the wrong username, and any posts you make are eaten and you're shown a redirect) nprice (talk) 16:34, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Edits/feedback for created page "David Jones (Havas)"?

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for not replying in a more timely fashion--got busy for the past few days but I'm back on WP now. We were talking about the best way to edit the page I'd attempted to create, for "David Jones (Havas)", and I think you said I could show you a draft for review before posting, so you can take a look at the neutrality, references, etc? Is your talk page the best place to do that? The talk page for the article itself? (Sorry if these are really dumb questions, I'm still figuring my way around the wiki editing process!)

To answer your question from last time: I'm not a personal friend or a publicist of the subject of the page; I do know him on a professional basis (does this compromise my neutrality? I'm being very careful to watch for any bias) but decided to put this page up because I searched for him on wikipedia and found out he wasn't on here, though his company is.

Thanks for all your help so far,

My proposed page on David Chaloner

I have not managed to find your comments on my proposed page on David Chaloner, so I don't know what the problem was with the page. Chaloner is a significant British poet and it seems strange to me that an entry on him is blocked. Your review notice says that the comments are in the hold -- but I can't find the label "hold" anywhere on the page, nor on my talk page. So I can't read the comments. Is this some kind of code? I would like to improve the page and get it on Wikipedia -- I have been expanding and improving the entry on my user page. I'd be most grateful if you would give me the comments here so I can fix the page. Best wishes, 2bttrn (talk) 22:59, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
