Welcome

edit

Hello, Andreasirota, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! tedder (talk) 03:10, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Caruso Affiliated. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. tedder (talk) 14:16, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK, see what you are saying. I am removing my own commentary and linking references. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andreasirota (talkcontribs) 14:36, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, "personal analysis" is another term for not adhering to a neutral point of view. In other words, information about Caruso needs to be cited from reliable sources. Uploading a biography that reads like a press release is not encyclopedic. tedder (talk) 15:11, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

COI

edit

Hi Andrea! I'm here to try and help with the situation a bit. As you're affiliated with the subject of the article that you're editing, there's a strong possibility of a conflict of interest. WP strongly discourages editing articles with which you may be closely affiliated or in short, adding information that's unecyclopedic in nature (advertorial, peacocking, etc.) that actively counters WP's goals. this link will tell you more about how to go about getting the page changed so that there isn't a COI that shows in the article. It will basically ask that you use the talk page to suggest edits but I suggest reading more so that you have a better understanding of how to go about having the article changed. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here. OlYellerTalktome 15:26, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Andreasirota (talk) 15:38, 10 August 2011 (UTC) Thank you for the info - will review your sites. Removed biased information, including only information that is factual with references. Will continue to add references to the information online now. Again, thanks for all the help all!Reply

Caruso Affiliated

edit

Please stop adding stuff about Rick Caruso's political aspirations to this article, which is about the company. If and when he meets the guidelines at WP:POLITICIAN, he can have his own article. – ukexpat (talk) 20:55, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Andreasirota (talk) 22:30, 11 August 2011 (UTC)OK, point taken, although I've noticed another user editing Rick Caruso's bio on this page today. How can I create a page for him, even if it isn't WP:POLITICIAN? Just with correct information. The true reason I am updating is because there was incorrect information on the Caruso Affiliated bio (that his father started the company, which is incorrect).Reply
If he doesn't meet the WP:POLITICIAN guidelines but otherwise meets the WP:BIO guidelines, then yes he may qualify for an article but only if written from a neutral point of view, is non-spammy and , preferably, written by someone without an conflict of interest. – ukexpat (talk) 19:03, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:RJC wiki thumb.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mlpearc Public (Talk) 19:42, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Neutral sources . . .

edit

Get some articles printed in newspapers or magazine, or on websites, that are neutral and have no affiliation with Caruso. Then you can use these as a source. Normally PR Wire does not count. We are talking business journals, the L.A. Times, whatever. Also, using your real name enables a reader to find out exactly who you are, which most of us—although not all— like to keep deep, dark secrets. Sincerely, your friend, GeorgeLouis (talk) 23:28, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
