A tag has been placed on Maria Gheorghiu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Proposed deletion of Maria Gheorghiu edit

Speedy deletion nomination of Maria Gheorghiu edit

Hello AndaVeronica29,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Maria Gheorghiu for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ita140188 (talk) 09:36, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:15, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your article edit

I've moved it here: Draft:Maria Gheorghiu. You can work on it and provide sources to show notability before you submit it. --NeilN talk to me 14:20, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I see you have submitted your draft for review. It will probably be rejected as you've provided no sources to show notability. --NeilN talk to me 15:00, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I made a mistake... How can I add sources, please? Please, help me, I don't want a new rejection... I am tired of this and I don't know what to do...

Find newspaper articles, magazine articles, etc. that cover the subject. They don't have to be in English. Look at WP:MUSICBIO. Does the subject meet any of the 12 conditions? --NeilN talk to me 15:14, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

THANK YOU!!! It is ok now? I really hope so...— Preceding unsigned comment added by AndaVeronica29 (talkcontribs) 15:36, 29 October 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

Anda, some of the sourcing was ok, and I have tried to help expand on it some. Some, however, did not support the article and I removed them. I have filled out some of the cite templates for you and moved them into the body. Even with sources though, one of the problems you face is that the article makes no real claim about why Maria is important/notable. It simply states that she is a Romanian folk singer, with no claims. If you want the article to be promoted from draft, it will need a lot of expansion, such as a few details of her personal life, awards she has won, charities she may have been involved in, etc. Remember that any details you add need to be sourced. You may want to check this source for details you can include... It's the best source in the article and has a lot of details. -- ferret (talk) 16:18, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks so much for all your help! I wrote some information from that article, but I don't know if the translation is ok... I put the name in [[ ]], it is ok? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndaVeronica29 (talkcontribs) 16:40, 29 October 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

I see you are still making some edits. When you are ready let me know, and I will copyedit for any translation issues, and help integrate the sources into the right places. -- ferret (talk) 17:02, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I am ready now. Thank you again! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndaVeronica29 (talkcontribs) 17:13, 29 October 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

Anda, I am still copyediting the article, but I wanted to caution you about copyright. It looks like some of the text you added was copied straight from the google translation of this source. I am not sure copyright really applies to a Google translation, but wanted to make sure you knew not to copy websites directly into Wikipedia. Doing so would be a copyright violation and the text would have to be removed immediately. -- ferret (talk) 17:33, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I got the information from the site [this source]. But I thought it was ok, since I've been making bibliographic sources ... I should rephrase some text?

You cannot copy text from other sites (even Google Translate) into Wikipedia articles. See WP:CV for more info. --NeilN talk to me 17:41, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I understand now and I'll try to rephrase the text, as possible...— Preceding unsigned comment added by AndaVeronica29 (talkcontribs) 17:45, 29 October 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

Anda, I have already rephrased most of it, it should be ok. My copyedit is complete for now. Here is another source, which I used to add the fact that she has a daughter. The google translation was very rough, perhaps you can get some other details from it. The article is in decent shape right now, but it could still use some more sources. Because many of the sources are in Romanian, it is difficult for me to locate them. I recommend you spend some time looking for other good sources that have detail, like Jurnalul.ro and Agerpres.ro do, and add them to the article. Try to avoid sources that simply list her songs, albums or lyrics. -- ferret (talk) 17:59, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'll do this. I wrote an information about Maria Gheorghiu and Dulce Pontes, in "Influences" section (I don't know if I choose right this section).— Preceding unsigned comment added by AndaVeronica29 (talkcontribs) 18:01, 29 October 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

Influences is a good place for that. I updated the source to the original, which was from Jurnalul.ro. Also, you may eventually want to see if you can improve the Romanian article with these details and sources as well. -- ferret (talk) 18:07, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you!!! This part is ok? "Maria Gheorghiu and the Queen Marie of Romania". Here is the song:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vub694na14o Today is the 140th birthday of the Queen Marie.

Hi! I wrote something new in Influences, about Maria Gheorghiu and Ave Marie, the Romanian version. Can you check if I spelled correctly, plus the reference, please? Thank you very much! Here is 'Ave Maria' in Romanian, if you wish to listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGTfXSIqKBs I really hope that this page will be accepted! Thanks for all your help!— Preceding unsigned comment added by AndaVeronica29 (talkcontribs) 08:19, 31 October 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

Anda, I wanted to let you know that your edits today were well done. I'm happy to see that you show a good understanding of the cite template now. Keep up the good work. -- ferret (talk) 14:17, 31 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for help! You learn me to write the references. But it's ok the text? My English is poor... Thanks again!— Preceding unsigned comment added by AndaVeronica29 (talkcontribs) 15:37, 31 October 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

There is no issue with the text in your latest edits. I think the article is in a good place right now. The most important improvement I think it could use now would be to find a non-Romania source, something in English or another European language such as French or Dutch. -- ferret (talk) 16:08, 31 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'll try to found a non-Romania source...

I don't find foreign languages pages with Maria Gheorghiu... Although he had concerts in Canada, Ukraine, France, Belgium, Spain, Serbia, Hungary, Moldova ... I don't find anything. I hope not to be problems and because this the page could be rejected ...

Hi! I found an English site: http://romanianleaders.phorlanx.com/leaders-round-romania/#/maria-gheorghiu. But my references 2 and 8 are the same. Could you fix this, please? Thank you!

Thanks! I think now it's ok.

Adding references can be easy edit

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello! Here's how to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain the Wikipedia policy of verifiability.

Adding well formatted references is actually quite easy:

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "Cite". Click on it.
  2. Then click on "Templates".
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill in as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that is helpful in case the web URL (or "website link") becomes inactive in the future.
  4. Click on Preview when you're done filling out the 'Cite (web/news/book/journal)' to make sure that the reference is correct.
  5. Click on Insert to insert the reference into your editing window content.
  6. Click on Show preview to Preview all your editing changes.
  • Before clicking on Save page, check that a References header   ==References==   is near the end of the article.
  • And check that   {{Reflist}}    is directly underneath that header.
7.  Click on Save page. ...and you've just added a complete reference to a Wikipedia article.

You can read more about this on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv.
Hope this helps, --NeilN talk to me 15:14, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
