Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Amy Greenacre. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page World of Books, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. I'm taking this opportunity to point out to you that you are this close to being indefinitely blocked for spamming. You now have a chance to read up on our guidelines, and to consider what it is that an encyclopedia does. Advertising is not what we do. Drmies (talk) 15:10, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Drmies (talk) 17:07, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I would like to appeal the block please - it is no longer necessary because I understand what I was blocked for. I have referred to the conrtibuters guide in regards to providing content. The page which I am attempting to update is out of date in its information, links to existing citations are broken or no longer live, the company which I am referring to has undergone many changes and there is relevant information pertaining to this that should be updated as a matter of interest to those who wish to look up said information. I am more than happy to edit further and will do so to the best of my ability. I appreciate editors with a COI are sometimes unaware of whether or how much editions are influenced, and having also read the COI documentation, would fully take this into careful consideration upon any further edit; should I be allowed.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficiently convincing for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Yamla (talk) 14:00, 28 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Yes, they are my employer. I have been tasked with updating the information displayed about the company. Amy Greenacre (talk) 13:37, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

OK, you will need to read WP:COI and WP:PAID and make it clear that you will comply with those policies. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:39, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you User:Boing! said Zebedee for linking to those very useful articles. I have just read both and will ensure that I comply in future. I shall use full disclosure and request edit moving forwards.Amy Greenacre (talk) 13:50, 6 July 2018 (UTC) {unblock|Please could I request the block be lifted. As per my comment 6.7.2018, I have read all recommendations on editing and will comply moving forwards.Amy Greenacre (talk) 14:22, 26 July 2018 (UTC)} (talk)Reply

As you have read WP:COI and WP:PAID you probably understand that you may not edit about your employer, though you may suggest changes. Also, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so it would be best that all information be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking. The subject's web page is very limited in terms of sourcing as it does not meet this requirement. If unblocked, you would be ale to discuss and sugest on the subject's talk page. Your employer might want to consider some other venue for telling the world about itself. As your only purpose is updating your employer's article, I feel little inclination to unblock you, though others may see things differently.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 14:59, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
