Disambiguation link notification for February 26

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited History of Kashmir, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nizam Uddin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Further views? Indeed you can go ahead and make some changes in the article. Of course, if we do not agree with the edits, we would discuss the rationale (but that seems unlikely).--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:44, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
I can only make minor contributions to the article if at all. Reviewers have to be dispassionate about the articles they review. If I start contributing there, I'll lose the ability to spot problems with it. Do you remember editor's block? Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 15:02, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Indeed. Your review of the theme section was extra-ordinary, and linking to appropriate books was so helpful. Moreover, we used your words/language in the article as those seemed exceptionally well-written and nicely paraphrased.

If no one does that over the next week or so, I'll support it regardless. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 16:14, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for letting us know. Do you see any problem with new "Themes" prose or other sentences in particular. We could address it or request the article's chief copyeditor Rothorpe to take a look. --Redtigerxyz Talk 17:31, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

No problem if you do that. You can either change the prose yourself, or suggest improvement in the talk page or in FAC. We, the main three contributors, are probably suffering from editor's block :p--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:59, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Mythological content in historical section

The information added in the Date, Place and Context section of the Manusmṛti page was replaced during this edit and the factual information was replaced with mythological dates and content. These do not belong to a historical section. Please remove it and replace it with its original content which was

The text shows the obvious influence of previous Dharmasutras and Arthasastric work. These eighteen Titles of Law or Grounds for Litigation make up more than one fifth of the work and deal primarily with matters of the king, state, and judicial procedure.
Though most scholars had previously considered the text a composite put together over a long period of time, Olivelle has recently argued that the complex and consistent structure of the text suggests a single author. However, no details of this eponymous author's life are known, though it is likely that he belonged to a conservative Brahmin caste somewhere in Northern India.

The reasons given by the user who did this edit for replacing the information in that section are ideologically/politically biased, not supported by any archaeological and historical evidence, and are either completely unproven or any conclusive evidence supporting these claims is absent.

This user has also done many similar edits on pages relating to Indian mythology and history by adding mythological content and dates to historical content, and by adding unproven archaeological/historical contents to pages relating to Indian mythology, especially to pages relating to Bhrigu and Dhosi Hill, as can be seen from this user's contributions. Most of the information added is either directly cited from mythological texts or is politically biased, non-factual and contrary to any information obtained from archaeological, geological and historical evidence.

Something must be done to remove the misleading non-factual information from all these pages and to prevent this user from non-factual information to more pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.225.253.207 (talk) 01:13, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

I please request for the Manusmṛti page to be reviewed to remove non-factual and misleading content presenting mythological content as being factual, and for other misleading content with the intention of presenting it as reality and glorifying it using unproven claims.

The user User:Sudhirkbhargava has made many misleading edits to that page that present mythological events unproven by archaeology as real historical events, and also provides other misleading information presenting the mythological figure Manu as a historical person whose laws were followed in South-East Asia before the rise of Buddhism in India, although no credible evidence for all these claims exist that are accepted by mainstream archaeology and historical sources.

Here is a compilation of all the misleading edits made to this page.

Please do something to remove these edits which are very misleading and also make people lose faith in Wikipedia's reliability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.224.81.231 (talkcontribs) 01:06, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. I came here to find reliable references to use for academic research and I was so deeply offended by these misleading edits that I had to correct them in the pages that are not blocked although I have never edited or contacted anyone on Wikipedia before.
Wikipedia is meant to be an unbiased and reliable source of factual information and publishing such unreliable and biased information is unacceptable. The said user who did these edits has been doing similar edits to the articles for Bhrigu, Manu and Bhargava and to pages relating to them, his username is sudhirkbhargava and he cited a person by the name of Sudhir Bhargava in his edits. Because Bhargava means descendant of Bhrigu I suspect he might be doing these edits to prove his own personal ancestry as being real and to glorify it. This is completely unacceptable for a reliable and unbiased source of information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.224.91.49 (talkcontribs) 01:56, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
ARE you joking??? Wikipedia is incredibly biased. See for example this link
facepalm Sudhirkbhargava has been asked not to add very early dates, such as 10,000 years old, as reliable historical information by many uninvolved editors at RSN because of WP:Redflag and Fringe theory concerns. It looks like someone needs to supervise his edits and maybe even adopt the user. Thank you for bringing this up here. I'll take this up with other editors. Article Feedback Tool update

Hey Correct Knowledge. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:58, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Ultras of Eastern Himalayas

Hello. Regarding this edit. Agree of course that they are not by any stretch part of the Himalayas. The thing is, every one of the 1,515 ultra prominent peaks in the world was listed among the collection of ultras lists, but not now. So we should either put the peaks you have removed into another ultra list, or put them back where they were and rename the page to something that makes more sense. --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 22:29, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

I have reverted my edit. We could rename it List of Ultras in India, but then we'd have to include other ultras within the geographical boundaries of India as well. For some reason prominence of peaks doesn't figure a great deal in references dealing with mountains in India. So it'll be a lot more work. :) Amitrochates (talk) 22:40, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
Yes, true. But we are really only talking about four peaks. The prominences of those four are sourced here. Could we just move List of Ultras of the Eastern Himalayas to List of Ultras of the Eastern Himalayas and southern India? --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 22:50, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
Or maybe move the four peaks into the list List of Ultras of Tibet, East Asia and neighbouring areas, which is already sort of a catch-all anyway. --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 22:59, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
Moving the four peaks into List of Ultras of Tibet, East Asia and neighbouring areas makes more sense to me. Eastern Himalayas and Southern India are seldom grouped together without including the other ranges between them. Maybe someday those four peaks will make their way into a List of Ultras in India article. For now including them in Ultras of Tibet, East Asia and neighbouring areas seems to be the simple and elegant solution. Amitrochates (talk) 23:14, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
Ok, sounds good. I wouldn't mind taking a stab a creating List of Ultras in India in the near future. Another problem I see though would be the large overlap with the Himalayan ultra lists, which could only be avoided by dividing the ultras up by country, and that would be work.   Done, with our temporary solution. --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 23:49, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

I prefer to list mountains by range than by country - especially in the Himalaya where borders are disputed. Viewfinder (talk) 11:28, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
We don't necessarily have to choose between them. Listing mountains by range and country can go on side by side. Besides, the information on where exactly the borders are is out there even if it is hard to find. In fact, many lists, such as this one (pdf), have already done a decent job of figuring that out. Amitrochates (talk) 13:20, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Ok, well then we could just create a page called List of most prominent mountain peaks of India where we would list, at minimum, all of India's ultras, plus however more we want of the next most prominence ranked peaks in India; or just only list India's ultras, much like the article List of most prominent mountain peaks of Alaska. I don't think we should tinker much more with the ultras lists. I like how, as a group, they accurately give a comprehensive list of all the world's ultras, without overlap.--RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 23:50, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
List of most prominent mountain peaks of India won't solve our problem. In fact, if listing the most prominent Indian peaks was the only issue here, we could just have added them as a separate section in List of mountains in India. The problem here is that the non-Himalayan Indian/Sri–Lankan peaks right now sit uncomfortably in List of Ultras of Tibet, East Asia and neighbouring areas. And I suspect there could be more ultras in South Asia (maybe Guru Shikhar for instance). Something like a List of non–Himalayan Ultras in South Asia would serve our purpose. It certainly wouldn't disturb or overlap with any of the existing lists. Of course, if there are only four non–Himalayan ultras in South Asia creating a separate article for them would be excessive. In that case, we might have to rename the Tibet list. Amitrochates (talk) 00:26, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, you're right. I don't know what I was hoping to accomplish with that one. Indeed there seems to be no ideal fit for these four peaks.

And because they do not neatly fit, I think creating the separate ultra list article for them is a better idea than you give yourself credit for. We already have List of ultras of the Caribbean which contains only 7 peaks. I think it would be better than what we have now, and it wouldn't be much work at all. Title not bad, List of non–Himalayan Ultras in South Asia, but can it be improved? What do you think? --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 01:07, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Also, I forgot, there is overlap among the ultras lists: The Papua, Indonesia peaks on both List of Ultras of Malay Archipelago and List of Ultras of Oceania. So for the moment anyway, I drop my objection to creating overlap. --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 01:22, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Nah, let's not create overlapping lists if we can help it. I can't think of a simpler title right now. Ideally, List of Ultras in South Asia would have been enough, but we have to add "non–Himalayan" to prevent an overlap. Amitrochates (talk) 01:29, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Agree. I pasted the basic contents into my sandbox here to see how it would look. You're free to use/add to/change any of it, if or when you would like to create the list (and I wouldn't mind creating it myself) but I suggest waiting to give VF and others a chance to weigh in before doing anything right now. --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 02:31, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Enthiran PR

Hi, I am Ssven2. I had recently taken this film article starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai to GA status and nominated it for FAC, but it was withdrwan due to WP:PUNC and MOS:LQ issues, most of which have been resolved. Do let me know if you are interested in leaving additional comments at the article's 2nd PR. Thanks. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 01:14, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Dnyaneshwar

Interesting: "Shri Chakradhar Swami propagated a religious movement, as well as social movement, in which all members were accepted irrespective of their castes, and the traditional ritualistic religion was rejected." I'll read the Dnyaneshwar-article; thanks for your work there. Best regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 06:04, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

You'll probably think I reminisce too much but this conversation happened more than two years ago. Yes, it's been that long since I thought of working on the article. Better late than never I guess. Amitrochates (talk) 06:16, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
