Gay athletes

I notice that you have added Category:LGBT sportspeople at the 2016 Summer Olympics to a substantial number of articles on living people. Some of these articles do not mention the sexual orientation of the subject, and therefore the inclusion of the category is unsourced. Per our policy on biographies of living people, any controversial material in these articles must be supported. Please add suitable sources to these articles immediately.-gadfium 20:29, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

I have removed the category from those articles where there was no content to support it. You are welcome to restore it if you add suitable content including a reliable source. I noticed an existing source in Amini Fonua covered his sexuality, so I added a very brief mention to that article and restored the categories.-gadfium 21:56, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the corrections. I am now adding proper citations under "Personal Life" where applicable. I do, however, find someone's sexuality being "controversial" quite disturbing.--AmitLev (talk) 09:04, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

It would be a problem if the category was added in error to someone who is not GLBT, or who is not out. For living people, we err on the side of caution.-gadfium 20:38, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
