Portland Passenger Bridge? edit

Hi there! What was this bridge, and why did you add it to the Arrigoni Bridge article? It'd be helpful if you could edit the article to relate it to the subject, if, for instance, it was the previous bridge at that location which washed away in the 1936 flood or something. That's my guess, anyway. - Denimadept (talk) 07:05, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

All I'm seeing with a Google search is another instance of the postcard you've already got. I've bid on it so I can have it too. I have a similar collection of postcards, but my limits are: bridge must be missing, or I'd just take pictures of it myself, card must be old enough not to be a copyright issue, and I don't limit myself to a particular area.
One method I've found which helps is to look for a historical society in that local area. They'll likely know more. Examples of my use of this method are further up the river at Enfield-Suffield Covered Bridge and Suffield and Thompsonville Bridge, where one contact pointed out both of them. Woot.
Can we keep the discussion here on your Talk page? I'll be going off-line this weekend, but should be back some time on Monday. - Denimadept (talk) 21:55, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oooo, I see you've copied what was on that eBay page. I suppose it doesn't matter much, since the image is beyond copyright. Thing is, a scan of the image is more problematic. Once I get the card, I'll scan it and replace the existing scan if you don't mind. Still, we need information on this bridge. Let's see. Hm... found them: Portland Historical Society. Think I'll contact them. - Denimadept (talk) 22:00, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Okay, Google Books works too. :-D - Denimadept (talk) 22:10, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
