Sports Personality of the Year

edit

Hi there.

Thanks for sending me a message on my talk page about Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY).

I stand by my argument that the event is non notable, can't be verified (no Google hits) and until someone can provide me with some strong evidence that I still believe it is an hoax. I've no evidence (as I said to another person who sent me a similar message) from searching the Retford Times archive on-line for SPOTY.

As for 102.2 Smooth FM, you may have not heard of it, but a quick search on Google brings up a lot of hits from a number of sources, including the station itself, media websites and the Office of Communications, amongst others [1]. Therefore, we can safely assume that it has some notability value for inclusion in Wikipedia. Sadly there isn't anything of the kind for SPOTY that makes it notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. I stand by my comments in the original article for deletion nomination. All I can say is that if you are not happy with the decision, seek a deletion review. Whilst I am here, one more thing, as per WP:SD policy, I need to add this regarding your recreation of the SPOTY page:
Welcome to Wikipedia! We could really use your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as AMCO Sports Personality Of The Year) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. tgheretford (talk) 23:39, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
