Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Asacoontrophyzoom.jpg, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. As a copyright violation, Image:Asacoontrophyzoom.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Asacoontrophyzoom.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at [[Talk:Image:Asacoontrophyzoom.jpg]] and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at [[Talk:Image:Asacoontrophyzoom.jpg]] with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on [[Talk:Image:Asacoontrophyzoom.jpg]].

However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Thanks for uploading an image for the SuccessTech Academy shooting, however, at the very least you need to add a fair use rationale since the image is copyrighted to The Plain Dealer newspaper. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Asacoontrophy.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Asacoontrophy.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:41, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Serial killers

edit

Hi, thanks for your recent contributions to Most prolific murderers by number of victims. Do you have any references for all the murderers you added, particularly regarding their victim totals? I've gone to pretty great pains to reference all the information on there, partly in response to the poor state of List of serial killers by number of victims, which I am planning imminently to merge in (when I have a bit of time). As such, I think we should endeavour to provide at least one reference for each of the individuals listed, and I was wondering if you could add some? If you are busy or don't have any, then I will have a look myself when I am less busy, but any help you could give in this matter would be great. Cheers, Jdcooper 22:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Inlovingmemory.png

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Inlovingmemory.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:07, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from University of Toronto Scarborough. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as the text has been restored from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. It is not recommended to remove references, as references are required for debatable contents. OhanaUnitedTalk page 05:46, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bellaire stabbing

I noticed that you removed an entry in the school attack list [1]

Please do not do it again without a rationale. I had a source, so we know it happened. WhisperToMe 23:59, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also noticed that the entry about Jonathan Caveman Williams disappeared - that was a notable shooting too, and it should not have been removed. WhisperToMe 00:02, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
