Conflict of interest edit

Hi! It appears that you have some close connection to the Global Schools Foundation, and so have a conflict of interest. Please note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. If you are receiving, or expect to receive, monetary or other benefits or considerations from editing Wikipedia as a representative of an organization (as an employee or contractor; as an employee or contractor of a firm hired by that organization for public-relations purposes; as owner, officer or other stakeholder; or by having some other form of close financial relationship with a topic you wish to write about), then you must disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:All10yards. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=All10yards|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please say so, here on this page. Otherwise, please make the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you have answered this message. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:38, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you editor for your review. I definitely appreciate Wikipedia and will work hard to understand what Wikipedia expects of contributors. I am not affiliated with any organisation and would love to contribute to Wikipedia. All10yards (talk) 11:11, 23 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

  Hello All10yards, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Global Indian International School have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:40, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

  Hello, All10yards. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara 21:25, 23 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

Request to unblock as I understand what I am blocked for, I will not do it again, and I will make productive contributions instead. I have prepared edits for other pages not relating to this particular topic. I would love to contribute to Wikipedia and will observe all the rules. I would appreciate it if I could be unblocked please. I truly appreciate the depth and value of Wikipedia. Please give me another chance. Thank you so much!

Accept reason:

I will unblock you per your pledge below. 331dot (talk) 16:31, 24 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • I have some comments and questions. You state above that you are not affiliated with "any organization", but that is difficult to reconcile with the nature of your edits, which suggest some sort of connection to the school you attempted to write about. If you have any connection at all to the school, you must disclose it per the conflict of interest policy. If you are an employee of the school, Wikipedia's Terms of use require compliance with the paid editing policy as well. Whether you are connected to the school or not, you will also need to indicate that you understand what a copyright violation is.
Is this the only account you have operated?
You state you have other pages you are interested in editing, what might those be? 331dot (talk) 09:44, 24 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@331dot: If you're considering unblocking All10yards, I've no objection. – Athaenara 16:24, 24 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

I definitely understand why I'm seen to be affiliated with the organisation I was appearing to write for. I have no connection to that organisation and am committed to safeguarding the integrity of Wikipedia. I am generally passionate about the education industry. Previously, I used the account "globalschoolsfoundation" as I thought I could create an account to focus on each school. However, I will now stick to a generic username "All10Yards" since I realised the hassle of logging in from different accounts. Regarding the other pages I am interested in editing, firstly it would be this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHIJ_Saint_Theresa's_Convent. It bugs me that the piece isn't cited. This is an example of a source I have found and would like to cite accordingly: https://catholicnews.sg/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11661:st-theresa-s-convent-celebrates-85th-year-aids-charities&catid=647:april-29-2018-vol-68-no-09&Itemid=207&lang=en. If you'll give me a chance to be a dedicated Wikipedia editor, I would love very much to contribute in a more systematic and productive way. Thank you for hearing me out and giving me a chance!— Preceding unsigned comment added by All10yards (talkcontribs) .

Just to add, I will be sure not to repeat the behaviour that got me blocked in the past. I will adhere to all community rules and expectations on Wikipedia. Thank you for your kind assistance! All10yards (talk) 14:19, 24 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
