The two articles that were cited in the aurora advocate where articles about and specific to Ronald A. Carson. It seems to me that the hang-up is the notability of Ronald A. Carson and the lack of a third party confirming his notability, but these two articles in a third party neutral source do just that. His article should remain. This seems to be an injustice of large proportions. Alinob77 15:33, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Look at the bottom of the page for Ronald A. Carson you will see that a third party reference, The Aurora Advocate, is a published entity that has vouched for Ronald A. Carson's notability. He deserves to have a page Alinob77 22:28, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sources have been cited. The Aurora Advocate is a neutral publication that has spoken to and vouched for the validity and notability of Ronald A. Carson. This is noted in the reference section of his page. His story on Wikipedia serves as an inspiration to thousands upon thousands of yound African-Americans across the country and the world. It would be a severe injustice if his page is deleted

Changes have been made. Carson is a political wonderkid in the mode of George Stephanopolous. He is extremely notable and there are articles in well respected newspapers across the country that speak to this point. Including The Aurora Advocate. Thousands upon thousands of African-Americans look to Carson for inspiration and guidance, that alone should be enough for his page to exist on a permanent basis. He has great notability in Ohio, the country and abroad. There are other far less notable individuals on wikipedia. Carson's page and his story deserve to be told and made permanent. Please assist with this, rather than speedily deleting a worthwhile contribution to wikipedia. Thanks!

Carson is notable and this has been proven through his recognition from Cleveland City Council. He was given a proclamation signed by the entire body of Cleveland City Council. An honor that is only bestowed upon notable individuals. He has also been recognized by the Mayor of His hometown city of Aurora. He has been recognized as a wonderkid by who's who among american high school students, circa 1995, he has walked lockstep with President's, Senators and Governor's, as well as, Academy Award winning actors. He has been written about in newspaper's including The Aurora Advocate and The Cleveland Plain Dealer. He is notable from Hollywood, to New York City and Washington, DC. Carson's story deserves to be told Alinob77 19:13, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • If this is the case (and I'm not disputing it), you need to edit the article such that it meets Wikipedia:Notability (people). in particular linking to independent reliable sources. Stating here, and in other talk pages that he is notable doesn't assert notability, you need to show notability, not just tell us he is notable. Improbcat 20:10, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Ronald A. Carson edit

A tag has been placed on Ronald A. Carson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Ronald A. Carson is a well respected American political operative. He has worked for some of the most famouse polticians in American history, such as, but not limited to, American President, Bill Clinton, Vice-President Gore and Senators John Kerry and Joe Lieberman. Carson is a wonderkid, he is of the mold of a James Carville, or a Paul Begala, he is well known and well regarded in the highest of political circles in the United States of America, he will be a well known politician in his own right one day and his story deserves to be told. He serves as a role model to countless African-Americans throughout this country and it is important that his page remain so that said individuals can look to it for inspiration and guidance. It is imperative that this page remain. -Alison Bibb

License tagging for Image:Carson.pdf edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Carson.pdf. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:09, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

October 2007 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with Ronald A. Carson. If you do not believe the article should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Diff Rjd0060 19:08, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You only need to add 1 hangon tag to articles. I have removed the other 2 you added to Ronald A. Carson. Please stop it. - Rjd0060 19:16, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ronald A. Carson edit

See Wikipedia:Notability (people) and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Basically, Wikipedia articles need to include some citations to published sources by people independent of the subject that speak to the subject's significance, and the facts in the article similarly need to be sourced. (I'm copying the answer here and in my talk page. PS: Please do not edit my user page. My talk page is the appropriate place for queries like this to go.) —David Eppstein 15:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

What are the sources you have? I haven't seen them. Can you provide links to the specific articles about him that prove notability? You can post the URLs here. Improbcat 17:02, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The only advice I would be able to give you is that the article failed to show his notability using Reliable sources. The article didn't show his importance (as it just stated that he worked on a couple presidential campaigns). That isn't very notable, as there are hundreds or thousands of people who do that. If you haven't already, read WP:N and WP:BIO, which should offer insight on whether or not Ronald A. Carson is notable enough for his own article on Wikipedia. - Rjd0060 17:29, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question regarding your connection Robert Carson edit

I was doing some googling on Mr. Carson, and out of curiosity put your username here in google. I noticed here that this appears to be you. And furthermore here that your last name appears to be Bibb-Carson. Which makes me curious, are you directly connected to Robert Carson by family/birth/marriage? If so you you may be violating the Conflict of Interest guidelines, in particular the "Close relationship" COI. If you are connected to Mr. Carson, please review that page before making any further edits. Improbcat 19:08, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the last name on the first site is listed as "Bibb", however the link to your portfolio is "www.newimagemedia.com/carson/". And the pictures on the two sites are extremely similar. Also on this site (hit stop, then back to display, the page, it autoloads a player otherwise and obscures the relevant part) it shows demo videos tagged with both "Alison Bibb-Carson" and "Alison Bibb", and appear to be of a reporter at the Cleveland Indians Stadium. Which is interesting since you list on the above page that you are/where "Cleveland Indians -- In Park Host and Reporter".
So I ask again, are you directly connected to Robert Carson by family/birth/marriage? Improbcat 19:43, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I do not believe that I like your tone. Also, I have reviewed your biography and it does not once mention that you are a judge, nor a member of any particuar jury, therefore, when you state, "I ask again" it in some way implies that I am required to illicit a response to you, of which, I am not! I suggest that you put your obvious knowledge of wikipedia guidelines to good use and leave this worthwhile article alone. Your efforts would be much more appreciated elsewhere. Alinob77 21:01, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but you are out of line here. Conflict of Interest is a serious thing on Wikipedia. User:Improbcat did nothing wrong by informing you of this, and had I noticed before, I would have done the same thing. Relax. Also, there is no reason you cannot answer the question, unless you have something to hide. Are you directly connected to Ronald Carson? - Rjd0060 21:05, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, you are not required to do anything. However the as Rjd0060 stated COI is a big deal, and as such my question is valid. You can chose not to answer it, as you thus far have. However that then adds the question of what you have to hide that you are unwilling to answer a straightforward question. Improbcat 21:23, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

RJD0060/Improbcat: The two of you are out of line and your motives are again called into question, please revert to my above post about respect and integrity, of which, not one of you is exhibiting at this current time.

"COI is a indication for scrutiny and editing, not rejection. The tone of the current article is unfortunate, but that can be changed. I'm prepared to remove some of the fluff." DGG (talk) 20:45, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

  • I at no point suggested it as a reason for deletion. I noted it as a possible relevant factor in the article, and a possible reason for your strong defense of it.
COI is a very real and relevant issue. Allow me to quote from the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest page:
COI edits are strongly discouraged. When they cause disruption to the encyclopedia
in the opinion of an uninvolved administrator, they may lead to accounts being
blocked and embarrassment for the individuals and groups who were being promoted.
My motives are excruciatingly clear. I want to find out if there is a COI issue regarding your edits, defense of and promotion of the Ronald A. Carson article. As COI is a major issue, such inquires are completely in line with the mission of purpose of Wikipedia to produce a neutral, verifiable encyclopedia.
Your continued reticence on the subject is much more out of line, and continues to have me call into question your intentions with regard to your edits to wikipedia. Improbcat 21:54, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Multiple sockpuppet accounts pretending to be other people in an effort to fool people into thinking there is support for the Robert Carson article. And a continued refusal to be forthcoming about your connection to the article subject. I would suggest that you try acting with respect and integrity yourself before attempting to lecture other people on it.
Also, so that you are aware, whether the Robert Carson article is kept (which looks very unlikely now), this talk page, and all the other talk pages you've left messages on, the page about your sock puppet accounts, and the deletion review page with your use of fake accounts will all stay in the wikipedia servers. Which means that now if someone searches google for Robert Carson, there is a good chance that those pages will come up. This means that your less than honest behaviour, refusal to answer your connection to him, etc. will be what they see attached to his name. And I doubt that will do anything good for anyone's impression of him, and the people who support him. Perhaps you should ponder that during your two week block.
