Articles for deletion nomination of Danger Angel band

I have nominated Danger Angel band, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Danger Angel band. First, please read WP:DELETE and WP:AFD to get a better understanding of the process, and how to reply. You have to understand that Wikipedia deletes hundreds of articles about bands every day because they are non-notable. One of the reasons I AfD'd this one, rather than speedy delete is that because of the quality of how it was written, I was assuming good faith. The AfD reasoning was because the band was not notable - FIX the notability. This has nothing to do with playlists, or even questions about the existence of the band - it's about why is the band important? What makes it worth being included in an encyclopedia. In fact, I first asked you this question on User talk:Josh Parris, but saw no response for days before I AfD'd. it. For example, a-ah would not typically deserve any article if they hadn't hit it big internationally first ... much of their domestic success came after the international single. They meet music because of both "Take on Me", and the later domestic success - either themself could have been used to establish notability. Playlists, minor airplay, minor tours, visits from more notable singers do not give notability (notability is WP:NOTINHERITED). Tell me, really, what makes them truly notable?? • Thanks. I did not even see that you posted on John Parris so that's why I did not answer back. To the point: If it will it help make it clear, then here are some points worth mentioning.

First of all, the article was indeed written in good faith and out of the need to include this band along with other equally or less notable Greek rock bands that are already in wikipedia. The Greek rock scene is one that a lot of people find intriguing and there are several bands of all genres and idioms that given they were located more centrally, they would be international or world acts. However, their local importance is of quite some significance by itself. Even more because of the Greek music industry being inadequately organized to say the least.

1. Danger Angel are the first non-greek speaking, hard rock (or general rock to my knowledge)band to be signed by an established American label. There is no precedence to this with any other Greek band. 2. Danger Angel are the first Greek rock band to be able to officially include a singer of this magnitude to one of its albums (Jeff Scott Soto). 3. Danger Angel is one of the top-3 hot bands in Greece right now and the reason why they are not in any local chart yet is that the CD was poorly distributed in Greece and was "officially released" last week. I could not start to explain the reasons it was late but there is no point here. The CD was released through the American Label as announced, January 12. With the distributor absent here (because of their own reasons) they had to distribute the CD themselves and since they are not a certified label, they cannot give feedback on sales to any authority. The CD has sold over 2,500 copies locally already, so it could be certified as "gold" in Greece, however it is not, because of what I mentioned before. Another point is that there is actually no dedicated indie chart in Greece to record such sales, even if declared and registered and especially for indie labels from abroad. 4. All Danger Angel shows are sold out, all around Greece and the fanbase is loyal and growing. 5. Airplay is continuous in stations from Greece to Europe to the US and Latin America. No major networks, though, however constant, daily airplay from January 12 till today. 6. All Danger Angel musicians are notable in Greece, having recorded and performed with Greek rock or other bands for the past 20 years. This is not a kid band, but a band consisted of experienced, seasoned musicians. All of them already have at least one full release (some have three or more)in their past and they are all seasoned session musicians. 7. I made sure I waited until there where enough independent articles for the band, coming from media all around the world that would constitute that this specific band has even minor interest to people globally. The fact that there are already 2,500 people that paid to have them, while not having a clue what the sales are internationally, IMO, gives the band substance, notability and credibility. 8. I also made sure that this article is as unbiased as possible and did not include any band press releases, any opinions or statements coming from the band. I also did not include any forum talk or comments to any of the publications referenced, even if unattached to the band. 9. There are also several printed publications of and for the band in several magazines, mainly like the one that I have referenced already in the article and the band is referenced in a monthly basis in prints like that. Having the press interested in the band is a credit of notability itself since there are several thousands of readers interested in these publications, enough to keep the press interested.

Not counting the band value at all, this article complies fully with WP:MUSIC's criteria for musicians and ensembles

I quote from WP:MUSIC --> A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria:

Has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician or ensemble itself and reliable.[note 1] This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following: Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.[note 3] Works comprising merely trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories. Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar) would generally be considered trivial but should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis

I don't know if this is enough for you, there are several things you cannot evaluate from a distance. Anyway, i would welcome your opinion on what I put down. Let's talk about this further. Thanks Alexpts (talk) 12:05, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

If the band is actually the first EVER Greek rock band to get a worldwide contract, and you have a valid reliable source then that might actually be a claim of notability - I see nothing about that in the article, and too much "promotion" in it. A statement of notability must be supported and supportable.

Is the band named "Danger Angel" or "Danger Angel Band" .. this affects the title of the article, as it currently does not meet the manual of style the way it's titled.

• I cannot provide specific evidence that this is the first Greek band with a worldwide contract, mainly because every record deal is, in essense, a worldwide deal, especially since these days distribution via the internet is easy. However, this is an album that was produced in USA by a Greek band and is distributed in physical form worldwide. On the other hand what does "the first Greek band" mean? What is the difference between a Greek band or a US band or a French band for that matter. The band is a band and its origin is of no real consequence to the listener. By that you mean that a Greek band with a worldwide deal is somehow more notable than a French one or vice versa? I cannot understand the point. Moreover Greece has produced enough worldwide acts since the 30s for its musicians to be considered notable no matter where they release their albums, if you prefer to put it that way. Any other way it sounds discriminating.

Your first response to the article was that the information relies on the band's web site. This time you say it is promotional. Where does it say go buy the cd, or this is a great band or even check the band out or that this is a better band than another or maybe the cd is on sale here or there. This article is presented the exact same way as any other band in wikipedia and it just states what happened through the course of events from the beginning of the band till this day. Please, define promotion. If you consider the outside links as promotion, they can be crossed out since they are of no consequence anyway.

The band's name is Danger Angel. I wanted to name the article plainly Danger Angel, however a previous article that was named that way and was deleted, somehow still exists and I just don't know how to work around it..

I'm new to this and I didn't know where to post so...I'll stick to my talk page from now on.

I cannot tell why Billboard has removed the article that was used for the reference in the first place, in any case I will remove it as a reference. However, since this is not the only reference to the article's notability, I can direct you to all the other references that prove notability. You can read the arguments on a previous deletion suggestion that resulted as "non consensus" to see how notability on this article is argumented. If you still need clarification, please follow up.
