Deletion Review for Rick Mofina.

Hello, I had just started an article on the author Rick Mofina, and it was speedily deleted. I am sure he should meet the guidelines for inclusion as he has already had 8 novels published and has another due out soon. He has twice won an Arthur Ellis Awards for his writing. This clearly establishes notabliliy. Ironically the reason my article was so short was that I was getting information from various sources so as not to upset the copyright requirements of other sources. Can you please restore this article and I will be adding more to it in the next few days. ( I do not have any personal or commercial connection with this author, merely like his work.) Thanks. WVOX

Why was WVOX deleted (with the talk page/logs), when there doesn't seem to be any duplication (reason was "Wrong title - duplicate article")? Pages point to it, and now it's gone. As of this moment, there is no such deletion review page yet for me to comment on, so I'll do it here. It was a speedy deletion as R3. It was only a redirect from "House clean" to "House work" which is indeed a typo or misnomer in a redirect. I doubt somebody would type house clean (which is bad English BTW as it would be more appropriately house cleaning) to mean house work. -- Alexf^(talk) 12:38, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

An AIV question

Hi, Alexf. Thanks for placing the block on User talk:205.125.19.88 and tagging User talk:205.125.19.14 yesterday. It makes my time on WP easier and more productive -- at least, for a couple of weeks. My question is how this occurred. I placed an AIV report two days ago on these IPs. The report was dismiissed a few minutes later because the IPs weren't online at that moment. I felt this response was a mistake considering the persistent nature of the vandalism and the recent block on the one IP. But I decided to wait and file another report when the vandalism would continue the next day -- which I am certain it would. However, you intervened with a prescient block. How did you determine on placing this block? And was my original report faulty in some way? I am really just trying to get a grasp on the procedures at AIV. I simply considered the blocked IP needed to get a cool-off period from vandalism (had been blocked a few times before and had enough warnings). The other IP from the same school was not tagged as a school IP and had not had enough vandalism and warnings. Admins carefully consider that many IP addresses are shared by different users when considering a block. Also the warnings have to be very recent for the same reason. School IPs are generally treated with less leniency as they are particularly bothersome (unfortunately they do not seem to be giving their kids any ethics classes). Category:Bevagna

I have had to recreate this category again, having spotted that it had been (again) deleted subsequent to being de-populated (again) by an anonymous vandal with an obscure grudge against the admirably knowledgable (sadly former) editor user:Bill Thayer. See User talk:87.6.194.103, and in particular the anon editor’s threat: ‘Or i smash your face’.

Its members (currently (Bevagna, Cantalupo di Bevagna, Limigiano and Mevania)) are small places, but ones with historic and artistic importance. It is standard practice when an Italian municipality (comune) has articles on several of its so-called frazioni to group them in a municipal category.

Unfortunately when the admins (user:Kimchi.sg, user: Anthony Appleyard, user: Wizardman and user:Alexf) have previously deleted this category, they have been unwittingly perpetuating these acts of vandalism by the anon bully.

The article did not assert notability under WP:WEB and was deleted under CSD article A7. It had been previously deleted (the week before) under Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WIX.com. Just a comment . . . I've been reading the Articles for Deletion pages for the last few weeks, trying to get a better sense of how the process works. I noticed that this article got speedy deleted, but the entry at Articles for Deletion didn't list any reason for the speedy deletion. I'm assuming that the speedy deletion was because the article didn't make a claim of notability (i.e. A7), but that isn't stated in the Articles for Deletion entry (the discussion said the person wasn't notable, but not that there was no claim of notability). I think it would helpful for users less familiar with the deletion process if the reason something is deleted is clearly stated, especially if it is speedy deleted. It does point to the proper pages containing the speedy deletion guidelines. I think you misunderstood somewhat. I have no interest in that particular article, and never clicked on the link to it. I've just been reading the listings at Articles for Deletion (e.g. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2009_January_28 and find them to regularly be very obtuse. I'm guessing that the people who actually wrote the articles that are being deleted will click on the red links and get more information, but I still think that the listings at Articles for Deletion should be more user friendly. It was not deleted unfairly. It was deleted following the rules and regulations of Wikipedia. Specifically under Criteria A7 of the speedy deletion rules. What makes this subject notable? Do you have any reliable sources to support your claim? Please note that Wikipedia strives for verifiability not perceived importance or fame. Also note that just because other stuff exists is not a valid reason to keep an article, and please remember to always sign your posts in Talk pages with four tildes (~~~~) at the end.
