Welcome! edit

Hello, Alekvuozzo, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Response edit

Hi! It looks like Ian (Wiki Ed) is your content expert, but finding pages is definitely something I can help with. I looked to see if I could find your pages. I did find your article evaluation and where you did a practice citation, but I couldn't find the list of sources. I did, however, find that on the citation page you'd had a list of articles (see this). If this is the list of citations, I must warn you - Wikipedia cannot be used to source itself, as anyone can edit its articles. The sources used in the articles should be OK to use, however this depends on the topic area as some sources like popular press sources aren't good to use with scientific topics because they're often less focused on accuracy and more on sensationalizing something to increase readership. In any case, I listed these pages on your user page so you can find them more easily.

On a side note, I would recommend that you discuss your topic with Ian or clarify it somehow. Your topic is listed as human interaction with surf culture, however the issue here is that surf culture is a very human thing - as is any type of culture - since it's human created. Given the theme of your class, I would instead recommend that you focus on surfing and environmentalism - this is something that's in the surf culture article here. You could see how this could be expanded by looking to see what's lacking or needs to be expanded. An example of how you could expand this is to make a larger section that covers the impact of surf culture on the environment, as the main section looks to be more focused on the sport rather the overall culture's impact via things like tourism. Ian can help you more on this end, though. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:06, 4 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
