Request for edit summary

edit

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

wikization

edit

Good job with adding wikilinks to Leonhard Euler. However, please do not overdo it. Generally, only the first intance of a term in an article should be linked; repeated links (especially for general terms like mathematics) is highly distracting to the reader.--ragesoss 19:32, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely, the first instance of those math terms should be wikilinked, just not the word "mathematics" over and over. You weren't the only one overlinking the Euler article. It was already problematic before you started editing, so it didn't set too good of an example. But in the end, it's not too big of a deal, just a style thing (and since most of the article will hopefully be turned from bullet points to prose eventually, it hardly matters in the long run). You seem to have the right idea; part of what I was reacting to was what was already there. Anyhoo, happy editing.--ragesoss 04:34, 28 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are welcome. I spotted you when you expanded KVN—great job, by the way—and noticed that you are fairly new. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions—I'm always happy to help, and so are other Russian editors.—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) • (yo?); 20:30, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
