Jannik Sinner edit

Hi, please stop removing sourced content regarding Jannik Sinner. Apart from the fact that you didn't bother to explain your edits, there is literally no reason to exchange Innichen with San Candido, or to remove facts about his linguistic background (also present in the Italian wikipedia article, by the way). Anyway, if you suggest changes, please discuss your proposals first on Talk:Jannik Sinner. Your next unexplained removal will be met by a block proposal for your account. February 2024 edit

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Jannik Sinner—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks.   Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Jannik Sinner. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 22:00, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Jannik Sinner, you may be blocked from editing. Materialscientist (talk) 22:06, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for disruptive editing and edit warring with failure to discuss on talk pages.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Daniel (talk) 22:22, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Jannik Sinner. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Online) 22:42, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

In the end they blocked me but it’s wrong Italian names always have precedence in the Italian republic and his mother tongue is not German but a particular dolomitic dialect Alebir (talk) 23:07, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You blocked yourself. You had to state your case on that article's talk page yet you chose to ignore the warnings that you were going to get blocked if you didn't stop making edits that kept getting deleted. City of Silver 23:10, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I’m not familiar with this stuff, lack of experience I guess. But how can I get the administrators to unblock me? Alebir (talk) 23:36, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
The place to go in this situation is WP:GAB but if you don't want to go through that page, here you go: In your own words, explain what you did wrong, apologize for doing it, and explain how you'll comply with the rules from now on. Type this:
{{unblock | reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
and replace the words "Your reason here" with your unblock request. City of Silver 23:41, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I request to be unblocked because everything that I changed was not disruptive editing or vandalism but simply replacing wrong facts with true ones; for example his native language is not German but an austro-Bavarian sub dialect with enormous Italian influence and then using German names for towns situated in Italy( although in a bilingual area)also doesn’t seem to have sense. I hope that you understand that all my changes have been made with good intentions.

Decline reason:

I'm sorry, but I cannot unblock you at this time. You have not adequately addressed the reason for your block.

Please see our policy on edit warring. In the event of a content dispute, editors are required to stop reverting, discuss, and seek consensus among editors on the relevant talk page. If discussions reach an impasse, editors can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution.

Points to ponder:

Edit warring is wrong even if one is right.
Any arguments in favor of one's preferred version should be made on the relevant talk page and not in an unblock appeal.
Calling attention to the faults of others is never a successful strategy; one must address one's own behavior.

To be unblocked, you must affirm an understanding of all of this, and what not to do, and what to do when in a content dispute. Please tell us, in your own words, what it all means. Thanks, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 00:16, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I know I have made unreasoned and partially wrong edits on the Jannik Sinner page and I am deeply sorry for what I did also due to inexperience. I recognize my guilt but I also want to contribute to the spread of knowledge that Wikipedia represents, so I kindly request to be unblocked to be able to help in this regard. Alebir (talk) 09:12, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

We need you to tell what exactly was wrong with your actions so that we know you understand, and to tell what edits you will make instead. Please do so in a new request placed below. 331dot (talk) 09:44, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I changed town names from one language to another without discussing it with the other editors and modified the fact that German was his mother tongue editing that was only one of the languages he spoke instead, and for all this I apologize. The edits I intend to make if I will be unblocked are adding the fact that Sinner met with the Italian president who congratulated him for the Davis Cup and Ao victories and changing the town names from German to Italian if I get the permission from the other editors

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 07:30, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

(DFO giggles madly) Welp, block evasion and WP:LOUTSOCK were not the answers I was looking for. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:38, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
How come I didn’t understand I said everything correctly Alebir (talk) 15:25, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
If I squint hard enough. @Daniel: This not ideal, but is it enough? (If we overlook the block evasion.) -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:23, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You left out a great deal. You might reread my block notice above. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:24, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not for me. I quite simply do not believe the statement "changing the town names from German to Italian if I get the permission from the other editors" (the second half) given previous evidence. This is not doing that, despite claiming on 12 February (five days prior) that they would go about their editing differently. I would suggest this should be declined and TPA revoked, but up to others. Daniel (talk) 03:51, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
